Your shots are as always fantastic! 😍 sorry you didn't try that seafood at the first place but glad you caught up later! Can't imagine how much you enjoyed that drive, the landscapes are incredible! And of course, the Highland cattles are super cute. Awesome video, guys!

Thanks for the blast from the past. I was lucky enough to live and work in Stornoway for two years just over twenty years ago. I spent some of the happiest times on Luskintyre beach and fishing the numerous lochs on the North Harris Estate run out of the Estate office at Amhuinnsuidhe Castle. I only ever drove the Golden Road once but I think I drove every inch of tarmac on the whole island in the two years there. I really need to go back and take my wife who has never been. I was inundated with friends during my time there who wanted to see the islands and I was able to put them up in the four bedroom house that came with my job. The highlight of my time there was getting a trip round the island in the Coastguard Helicopter and being roped out from 100 feet back at the heliport instead of a conventional landing. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to watch Black Hawk Down the night before our trip but we were in good hands.

To really enjoy Scottish or Hebridean views, having a small boat is ideal. I had an inflatable Bombard B1 with a Honda 5 hp outboard on my Scottish tour in 1995. Once I inflated it, I drove around with it on the roof.
I visited Harris and Lewis in the Hebrides, but not the Uists. Harris especially was fabulous. 1995 was a very hot summer and the sandy beaches were more like the Caribbean than misty rainy Scotland. On Harris there's a place called Seilebost beach where I launched the boat. Just offshore there's a sizeable uninhabited island called Taransay where there are ruined remains of crofts, so people did once live there. I wanted to go ashore there, but decided not to, because I was afraid I might not be able to restart the outboard, in which case I'd be in big trouble. It was very desolate and isolated. I think they filmed one of those TV "survival " shows on Taransay a few years back. The contestants had to "survive" on an uninhabited island with nothing but television film crews, technicians, medical teams, production staff, as many fully equipped boats as required etc etc etc. I don't know how they got out alive..🤔🤔🙄

What a great video, thanks you guys. I'm in the early stages of planning a trip to Scotland either spring or early fall, 2023. My father's great grand dad, James Wilson came to America in 1862. There were 16 generations of James Wilson's before him, all from the Bathgate / Fife area, just west of Edinburgh. Happy travels, Donald Wilson, Tacoma, Washington.

Thanks for watching. Of course Harris and Tweed are synonymous, but we were there for a very short time and wanted to capture what we could. There are definitely others who can present the famous Harris Tweed much better than we could. Thanks for the feedback though 👍
