- Al Davis: The Complete Story Behind the Legend of the Raiders
Al Davis is an extremely iconic figure, not just for the Raiders or the National Football League, but also in the history of the United States. He was responsible for transforming the Raiders into one of the most renowned franchises in sports. During his tenure, which ended with his death in 2011, the Raiders won three Super Bowls, claimed the 1967 Football League championship before losing to the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl II, and competed in nine other championship games.
Davis was named AFL Coach of the Year in 1963, NFL Executive of the Year in 1976 and 2002, and served as AFL Commissioner for a few months in 1966, during which he played a crucial role in the AFL's merger with the National Football League. He was immortalized in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1992.

We want to know your opinion: if Al Davis were still alive, would today's Raiders be the same as in the '70s?

Yes RNFL
No and that was the problem. Al never adapted to the times and was stuck in the 70s while the game was evolving.
Mark has proven to be a worthy successor to his father. Under his guidance the Raiders have gone from playing in the most decrepit stadium in the league, to now playing in the greatest stadium in NFL history, along with having the the best team facilities in the league. Mark is also smart enough to know what he doesn't know, and to hire the right people for the right job. Hiring AP will be the final piece of the puzzle that returns the Raiders to prominence!! So they will be different than the 70's Raiders, but they will be the modern version!! I'm here for it!!
@@bobyost42 Mark is nowhere near a businessman or owner that Al was. Al declined dramatically, but if Al were alive when the deal to share an Inglewood stadium was proposed. Al would've rammed that deal down Stan Kroenke's throat and we'd be sharing that stadium with the Dolts today...
The greatest raider of them all Al Davis
Al changed the AFL-NFL like no other person in their histories. There will never be another Owner-Coach like him. Never forget that his greatest accomplishment was forcing the NFL into merging with the AFL.
Loving this Praying Always GO Raiders and Thank you All GO Raiders I believe Raiders Raiders Raiders
Al was a down to earth man.
He would have his booths or tables in certain restaurants in Oakland and meet with coaches or friends and dine.
I knew a man owned one of those restaurants…
Al will ALWAYS be an Oakland Raider!
love to watch the Judge play.
Greatest Owner in History.
RIP AL

Crazy how he was born almost 100 years ago !!!!! July 4 2029 😵💫
I think al son is trying to keep the raiders tradition going
Should’ve mentioned epic coaching hires and fires!
smart business man.
Rrraiders
Darth Vader Raider.
I just wish Al left the Raiders better off in which he found them. Unfortunately towards his end he did a lot of damage that the organization is still trying to recover from.
@sinoverlord• You fool, he left us way better than he found them. The Oakland Seniores were pitiful and never hardly won. He left with 4 super bowl games and many, many hall of fame players and a legacy untouched by any other owner in the history of football 🏈. You have no idea what you are talking about, you idiot. ⚔️🏴☠️⚔️
Mark Davis his wife and Mark Mom and the Raiders will win.
Al Davis was a pioneer in pro football. He was a real force early on. However, he seemed to lose touch with reality in his later years .He made some of the worst signings in football history IE Jamarcus Russell. His management of the team became unhinged. A great football genius that simply over stayed his time. His son is completely clueless and I've been a fan since the Madden days.
I agree he lost touch and was terrible at drafting
