This was a little family and friends adventure and made a video in the process. Shot mainly with the Fujifilm GW690, a 6x9 format film camera that is compact and easy to travel or hike with.
A Yashica t4Super point and shoot gets mixed in there as well but the main film being shot on the GW690 is a mix between Ektar and Ektachrome. Both films are 100 speed. Ektar is color negative while Ektachrome is color positive - or slide film.
Let us know what you think, which you like and would you want to shoot 6x9 format?
Absolutely love the Ultra photos. I didn’t expect that, thanks for sharing!
best combo!! that fuji its awesome
I shot slide film for the first time last year. Kodak E100 expired 2004, 6x7 frame. It was a wonderful experience. For development, it costed me $8 for dev-only at a local photo lab near me. Great scans, even with my cheap Epson V600. I was blown away that there was zero grain!
Loved it! Great job Braedon and more hiking!
The slide film is quite vivid. Great detail...
very nice landscape all around you...and , so nice to see your son in backpack 😉👍💛
Back in the day I shot lots of slide film. Ektachrome and KodaChrome. After coming back to film I love the look of Ektar and ImagePro100 and that Ultramax 400 are nice too.
Man
Kodak Gold would have been great up there. The light looks amazing
I Just bought a fuji 690, i Just tested an foma 400 B&w film. I love the camera.
I love slide film. Just recently shot four rolls of Agfa Ct Precisa. I would not say that slide film /in general/ has more accurate color representation, it really depends on WHAT slide film it is.
As a tip for slide film: meter for the highlights in your scene and compose for negative space with the shadows. Don't shoot slide film on a dull day.
I have shot both film, I prefer Ektar, it gives you more way to work around when the light conditions are difficult. Ektachrome gives better colors but in high contrast situation I am not able to get good results with Ektachrome and I find it frustrating when I large overexposed or underexposed area of the photo.
With color negative already painfully expensive, I'm not sure I could justify shooting Ektachrome frequently (18-20USD for a 35mm roll as of 14MAR2022). It looks like an amazing film for mid-day landscapes.
No hate on your photos but I'm realizing that back in the day the selling point of Ektachrome was the reliability of the true to color that it offers/ed. Nowadays we just call that digital so it seems like Ektachrome seems almost pointless... But, theres still something so cool about shooting slide film and gettting back positives instead of negatives.
And no one said that the beard and mustache are gorgeous!
How long it took to get that size and shape? Im still growing mine since last 10-15 years, but one f%ckin time I shaved them because of covid…
And to stay in topic I have to say that I’m currently looking for the gw690, almost decided that this one will be my first middle frame camera!
What song is playing in the backround?
Modern aquatic- Edgar Allan Poe was a hardcore dancer

With slide film you definitely need to be more switched on with exposures. Slight under exposure on landscapes will boost your colour saturation. We have a box of E100 sat in our fridge at work that no one will buy, prob due to the price! Cupboard is nearly bare re Fuji and rumour has it they might be ceasing film production. Let’s hope not.
