I got this in a crate some time back, and only recently played it. Struggled at first so checked your video for tips. Its all about ship placement and map awareness like you said, when playing these battlecruiser types.I now run L11 Legend 1 Guepratte with L11 Cunningham and L10 Jaujard which helps with some accuracy and punch
Just got the x5 Big Crates for 2,000 dubloons. Only big crates I've ever purchased on this game. On the 5th crate I got the Dunkerque. Played one game just now (my first and only so far.. did 98k damage and 4 kills and still had half my HP left ! I love this ship!

I have played the french BBs up to tier 8 (Richelou) on PC. What i have found is that they have fairly high dpm, good speed (excellent speed with speedboost) and unconsistent guns.
Yeah that's what it seems like having played a couple on this version
you can effective front ships with a caliber less than 380mm from the front
If you are a collector, you can buy it but if you want to play as normal ship and turn in a match beware!

It's pretty unique compared to what's out there now. Might not be the strongest in all situations
Hope you get the Tier 7 Richelieu soon with JarJar as the commander to give us a review on. Though similar to the Dunkirque, it at least has 380 guns. And the hull upgrade shows giving 4 more secondary turrets, so wonder what that gives us?
I'm still only on the tier 5, havemt had much time this week, but hopefully I can knock it out next week sometime

After your games in it so far, do you think it was necessary for WG to add 2 seconds to the reload and take 1km off the secondary range?

Tough to say. Still has a relatively quick reload, but I haven't noticed it really being a an issue
@@TbullGaming On the contrary, his facial grooming is rather impressive!
Jaujard does have the "Megalomania" skill which cuts down reload quite significantly, but you'd have to choose it over further reducing the dispersion with "Marksman". Not sure how that would play out.
You should review this ship again now that you have a good commander for it

Dunkerque plays the same as the Richelieu , but the Richelieu gets a speed booster so it should be a an interesting tier 7 BB

There's not a TON of mention of these 2 ships in the literature, but they're nearly always referred to as "battlecruisers", or "small battleships"...
They were a response to the Graf Spee class, and the Scharnhorst class were a response to them...
13inch guns are a bit small at tier 5, but you can bow tank and keep 100% of your main battery on target, so...hmm...

I think the ship lacks caliber. But aside that, its a great ship! Try using HE more often I think. Im grinding with the Normandie now, and it is way worse than Dunkerque. Cause Normandie has no good HE and neighter AP. But maybe with a BB commander, the french line can shine. Im really looking for Richelieu and Jean Bart!!!

Are these French cruisers buffed or something? Hit a lot of them broad side and seems to hardly do any damage at all
They are very lightly armored, so they are subject to the shells over-penetrating and doing very little damage. You could consider using HE shells against them when they are fully broadside
Just FYI if you're in another Cruiser you kind of get the luck of the draw on a broadside French Cruiser but if you're in a battleship and you shoot a French Cruiser broadside you're probably not going to get a citadel because they're light Cruisers they have paper thin armor and most of your shells are just going to over pain so what you're going to want to do with French Cruisers is wait till they're at a slight angle which then will allow your shells to penetrate enough armor to then arm and make them go bye-bye and drink their sweet tears of Sorrow
I got jaujard out of the weekly crate lol but considering I have all the us ijn and uk and need 2 more for Germany plus have lemon man cause I bought the de grasse it's nice to get a commander for free

Ive been playing since day 1 and haven't achieved a Kraken, ever. I'm never top three, I walk my rounds from end to end, and never seem to pass 20 k damage. A citadel with a kill is an extreme rarity.

I am about to buy my first premium in this game and i need to know what ship is the best for consistant and high silver income my budget is 12 660 gold so dunkerque, warspite, mutsu Or even indianapolis
If you like battleships, then Warspite is very good...de Grasse is a good cruiser, Indianapolis is also good, but temperamental...I'd stick with a tier 5...

@@emonhunter8384 all tier 5 & 6 premiums make a lot of money, Scharnhorst and De Grasse being on the top of the available premiums. I like warspite and de Grasse the best out of the ones listed

When players go chasing after one ship to the edge of the map, I call it 'arty hunting'. They are taking themselves out of the game for minimal return, maybe 1 kill.

Dunkerque class in real life were a beautiful ship, my fav battlewagon appearance wise. But the depiction in legends is garbo

What don't you like about it?
Cant take a shot at damage is awful. The French lines do not impress me. The one ship I wanted to come out that should have been out is not.
It's actually pretty good, but it has a rather one dimensional playstyle. If the enemy cooperates, it can be a huge pain in their third point of contact. If not, then things get exciting. Keep in mind this thing is a very small battleship. It was entirely designed around countering the German Panzerschiffe--even down to shell design. That's why you see weird AP performance. It didn't really have AP shells; they were SAP shells. It never deployed with HE at all. The HE shell was designed and tested, but never produced. In game, you treat it like a cruiser. You fight cruisers by preference and only attack BBs that aren't paying attention to you. Keep the bow pointed at them no matter what. The armor belt is only 9"; it's easily penetrated by anything above 12". The deck and turret armor are reasonably tough, but keep that belt heavily angled or completely hidden. Interestingly enough, Strasbourg was substantially more heavily armored than Dunkerque. Go figure; it's the French.
