    For me, one of the worst things about sticker decals is that the way you have to pick them off the sheet.
    This is fine for larger decals, but the countless tiny ones will inevitability get flung off into the great unknown and lost forever.
    Then again, maybe that's not such a bad thing, because it's what convinced me to bite the bullet and buy some waterslides.

    I will DEFINITELY be trying this technique on my upcoming kits. In the past I tried using an extra-sharp hobby knife to basically slice the border of the sticker that stuck out. Bandai, why you make stickers that have backing parts that stick out over edges?! Anyway, I have a feeling this method will be MUCH easier than what I was doing. Can't wait to give it a whirl!

    I've only built two kits with these kinds of decals so far, but halfway through the first one (rg unicorn) I got annoyed and got a pair of tiny precision scissors that I think were intended for eyebrow or eyelash trimming. I'll take the decal I'm applying off the sheet with my tweezers and trim the edges with the scissors before applying them, which has worked pretty well so far. Currently doing this for the rg crossbones, but I ordered some waterslides for most of my backlog

    I despise waterslide decals now, especially after applying them all on my MG Wing Gundam Zero ver.Ka. The whole process took me 5 heckin' days (5hours each), not only because there were over 150 of them but also the decals ALWAYS PEEL OFF after i stick them on. I kept on sticking them back on with the hope that the top coat will keep them in place, but it didn't. Now my kit becomes untouchable since it has those cursed decals all over ít body and if i hold my kit in the wrong place, the decals end up sticking on my fingers. Also, if i can't touch my gunpla, what is the meaning of the dynamic articulation, the hatch opening or the transforming gimmick ? I'm pissed as the item that comes in the box, doesn't work on the kit itself. This experience really helps me appreciate sticker decals and dry transfer is the best option to me now. Reply if you have the same problem with me. Thanks 😃

    • @xephanza7330
      @xephanza7330 Před 3 lety +4

      I agree dude! Water slide decals are better for blending in and looking nice, but if you actually want to play with and TOUCH your gundam then they're the worst. I got them on my MG Astray Turn Red, and they're such a hassle just for them to fall off later. Dry transfers are my favorites since theyre tougher than waterslides, and much easier and more convenient to apply. Contrary to everyone else, I actually like the sticker decals since theyre easy to place, even if they do have a tendency to peel off after a while

    • @EcnoTheNeato
      @EcnoTheNeato Před 3 lety +5

      I agree! Waterslides are cool, and I'll usually try them over standard sticker-style. But I personally believe they're more effort than they're worth. Dry Transfers are my jam, personally. Look just as good, much smaller learning curve, and no extra tools needed!

    A question… Why perforate the stickers instead of just trimming the edges of the stickers down to the design as closely as possible before putting it on the kit? That’s essentially what you’re doing when you remove the perforated section after applying the sticker. This cutting the stickers down beforehand just saves a step or two. Or is there another reason for the perforation that I’m not understanding?

    • @YouSeeGundam
      @YouSeeGundam  Před 3 lety +2

      i wouldnt recommend glue, what you should do to seal in your decals is give your kit a nice topcoat. this can be achieved with either an airbrush and clear coat paint (there are many types that work well so you can pick what one you want with a little research) or rattle cans work well too. tamiya makes official branded topcoat cans but i've gotten satisfactory topcoat results with a rattle can of Rustoleum 2x clear
