    GUYS BE AWARE ‼️
    Don’t buy cheap canbus decoders. These unbranded decoders got dangerously hot, and one of them melted.
    Changed to Philips decoders and they work flawless and not nearly as hot, you could se buy links in description or in comment section below. Really pleased with this setup osram led working really good 👊

      I don't think they meant to sit insode the same compartment as the light fitting. Best keep them outside the fitting for they can have airflow.

      Not sure which models but pretty sure you could find some, if you have the halogen option for W212 you could still change them without removing anything but is kinda hard in the driver side. I know Volvo had a really simple solution in the V70 models around 2012, you had a retainer you pulled out and the complete headlight come out in seconds.

    I have alredy installed some China LED but the Light was going off after some minutes.
    Now i found your Video.
    Why you installed an Phillips adapter?
    Why not the Adapter from Osram.
    Or should i Install an HDI Xenon Kit.
    What can you recommend to me.
    Thank you very much for your Time.
    PS: Your Videos are great

      Hi this install was on my old car and when I sold the car I removed the led lights and we put them on a friends cars and they still working flawlessly.
      But I changed to led mainly because I wanted to have the same look with white lamps as the other ones in the car, the actual light performance did not increase to much as you probably hope it would.
      And as you say the China led don’t bother about them they not last for long.
      I bought the philips adapter because I actually never found the ones from Osram to buy, but no worries they work as good anyway.
      Don’t have any experience about the HID but I guess they probably give you better light then original and led.

    These adapter clips are a nightmare. My hands are all chewed up. Plus it fell apart and the clip and ring dropped in the headlight. So I'm aborting mission on the LED's.. Took me an hour to get the clip and ring out of the headlight housing- nightmare since the magnet wouldn't grab either. I bought these regular bulbs on Amazon called Biolight KM superlight H7 for like 30.00 a set. they come in various versions and i only used the superlight thus far and they are very good. I tried them in the high beams also and they perform wonderful. You know what? They are great. At least as good as Sylvania Ultra's (which I have) but much whiter. Not quite LED white but really good and easy to replace. I thought I'd throw it out there as an option for W212 guys. Thanks so much for these super informative videos.!!

    I'm ordering the parts to do the conversion soon, what would you say the best place/position for the canbus decoders to avoid any heat damage? as in my country, the heat from the weather alone is really high, especially in the summer. Also, what would be the best option for the high beam conversion to be white as well?

    • @MB212
      @MB212  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi best place for canbus decoder it’s definitely outside housing you could find plenty of space to mount them but then you need to drill holes because you need the housing cover to be pretty sealed. The unbranded decoders I used in video was really bad got extreme hot and one melted, but when changed to these Philips decoders it’s way better it’s not near as hot. First zip tie them outside and after driving for a while I did feel that decoders not got that hot that they could melt plastic inside housing. Stuffed them below light bulb. High beam you could use same lamp but because it’s reflector I should not change it because you not going to get good light pattern.

    2 questions.
    -These lights get really hot, but you forced the adapter in that tiny space as well, without even fastening it. Doesn't that cause that adapter to move around in there and isn't that a fire hazard? I don't think that's safe. Anyway to keep the adapter out? Or attach them somewhere stable??
    -doesn't the headlamps just loosen up from the top without getting a whole wheel out and playing with the trim? I think that would be more comfortable to install as well.

    • @MB212
      @MB212  Před 3 měsíci

    Certain!y the choice is anyone's to make but I much prefer HID over LED. The focus and cutoff in the stock halogen projectors works perfectly with the HID bulbs. Problem with LED is that the heat sink/ fan is inside the assembly and creates too much heat.
    I used a Morimoto 35w HID with CANBUS connectors that's worked great for 5 years so far. Everything except the bulb is outside of the headlight assembly.
