    I like the way Tony just gave the facts and didn't try to "pretty it up" with superlatives. With that last unit you could get both a tow vehicle and fifth wheel for under 100k.

    I really appreciate this video. I've been "researching" RVs for a few years and I've been watching the Grand Design models closely. I always assumed there was a lot taken out of the 150s from the full Reflection 5th wheels. I'm amazed that I was wrong. I had no idea there was so little difference outside of floor plans and slides. And the new 100 is even more mind blowing.

      I caution you to read the complaints filled with the BBB, FTC and others. Thermofoil is garbage that if water penetrated would swell up. Both sides agree not wrapped allowing water to penetrate from below as it drips over the counter. Also a hot item from the stove can melt right through it requiring you buy a new countertop. We all work too hard for our money to waste it away.

    3 yrs going on ours and love it, few issues but well taken care of by dealer and Grand Design. Nothing is perfect but you can touch greatness, and they have.

    On the last RV -
    I wish the bed lifted to reveal drawers and a seat to do makeup A mirror could be fixed under the bed frame with lighting for me.
    Mat and Andrea have seen this feature and it is amazingly helpful. The drawers can hide all my private stuff.

    Tony is a great product manager. Knows his stuff and states facts about product so informed decisions can be made. Well done.

    Appreciate the video and all the features that Grand Design have left in the 100 series but if you are going to feature the differences, why not cover them all? Having just walked through a 22RK, there are a few more features that are missing, but not mentioned in the video. The hitch is a standard 5th wheel, not the 'turning point' hitch, there is no magic fan (or even vent) in the main living area, the hallway window (opposite the bathroom) has been eliminated, no outdoor speakers. But don't get me wrong, still lots of features included for the price point.

    This is a fantastic comparison - very clear and straightforward. Thanks Tony and Matt. Loving our 2021 260RD - we only have 2 ongoing issues - our Norcold 12 cubic foot fridge has an excessive amount of condensation, and I mean excessive! And our rear jacks are way too low. Unfortunately, Grand Design is not helping us get a solution with either issue so I really have a hard time hearing it’s all about the customer and their service. Otherwise, it’s the best rv we have owned - 8 in 40 years. Thanks.

    Most people love floorplans with a residential look and feel👍so please give them the “option” of a residential sofa or theater seating whenever possible to replace all of the 1950’s diner booth dinettes😩

    • @EarlBalentine
      @EarlBalentine Před 7 měsíci

      I personally prefer the booth because you get a lot of extra storage under the bench seat.

      @stevez340 Před 7 měsíci

      @@EarlBalentine That’s why I always say “option”, so everyone gets their preferred choice👍but personally, my back is pretty upset with me over the fact that I’ve actually had decades worth of dinettes in my RVs😂

    We have a 2018 337RLS. I Just saw the 2024 at a local RV show and was shocked at the downgrades all across the camper. Plastic sink in the master bath? Get real. The bedroom is smaller, less overhead cabinets, the dresser is at least 1/3 smaller, the closet is literally 1/2 the size as ours. Too much room was taken up for a dedicated closet for the washer and dryer stack. The dinette had a half seat, and two chairs. We have 4 chairs, 2 foldable to put away when we're traveling as a couple. Just downgrades and bad bad decisions all the way around this camper. Just a shame.

    I still don't understand the 100 series. The 150 series 280RS is now the 100 series 28RL. According to the website, they seem to be identical yet the MSRP on the 28RL is $15,000 less than the 280RS.

    • @silverhorse98
      @silverhorse98 Před 9 měsíci +1

      I noticed that the 280RS has an outdoor kitchen and TV, but not on the 28RL.

    At 8:10, Tony says ABS is removed for the 100 series, but the Grand Design website lists ABS as included for the 100 series. Which is true?

    You get what you pay for. 1" thick walls, 5 lug wheels, thermofoil counters, super thin dinette cushions are all short term products. These 100 series are only good for the buyer thats glamping next to a power pole in moderate temps a short distance from home 20 nights a year. Cheap entry level 5th wheel. Not true 1/2 ton towable either. 1200 lb dry pin and 6900 lb UVW will equate to nearly 8000 lbs loaded and @20% the pin will be 1600 lbs. Add in a 5th hitch @ 150 lbs and you got 1750 lbs on the rear axles. Throw in two adults at 350 lbs and you just added 2100 lbs to the trucks CCC. Very few 1/2 tons can accommodate 2100 lbs. Also the excuse about not needing TPMS cause it's a light weight 5th wheel is bogus. They include TPMS on their Imagine XLS travel trailer lineup. It's a costcutter period.
    This is what happens when RV companies raise the prices and buyers can't afford an entry level RV in their line up.
    Pro tip. Don't move the camera back and forth so much. It's like we're watching a tennis match.

    In the 22K I would get rid of the useless oven and replace with a convection/microwave. This 5th wheel is almost perfect.

    • @dzw4826
      @dzw4826 Před 6 měsíci

      My 2018 337RLS has both. Convection oven, and a Micro/Convection combo. We tend to just use the upper Microwave as an over and do all the cooking there instead of burning propane.

    Most of these "half ton" towable units aren't half ton towable whatsoever! You can't advertise a unit as half ton towable, based on its unloaded weight. Once one of these units is full of gear, water, etc, the pin weight will be well over 2000 lbs! These need to be geared towards 3/4 tons.

    • @dzw4826
      @dzw4826 Před 6 měsíci

      Pin weight only goes up by a fraction when you load the units. You're assuming 1000 lb of junk added, equals 1000 lbs of pin weight. That's just incorrect. Typically you're adding a hundred pounds of clothes in the front of the camper and all of your junk farther back. Only a % of that junk will affect the pin.

    NO THANKS, I will put my 2011 Montana High Country 323RL against any thing in the last 3-4 years. I have full perimeter inside storage, tons of storage outside, 65 fresh water, 2 x 45 grey tanks, 55 black and at 36', weighs less than 10K lbs ....... and much better cabinetry, this new stuff is a damn joke for the money...

    Look at the reports. Listen to the complaints. Go look at the "quality" that's coming out of Grand Design, and all RV's for that matter. The way you talk them up, you lost your credibility with me.

      95% of all manufactures use the same cheap material and parts. It's like the airlines they are all bad, just pick the better of the bad.

  • @DAVIDTATLITUG
    @DAVIDTATLITUG Před 10 měsíci

    C'mon Matt. Thermofoil is garbage. Almost every RV inspector will tell you this. A hot pot from the stove can melt it and then you must replace the whole counter. Grand Design
    It's not the company it was before being bought. It's not a reliable product according to reviews and experts. As long as you are tied to a dealer of RVs and not independent, you are always going to hype these products. You are being paid to do this by General RV who is yet another company reviewed poorly for warranty work and customer follow up. Camping World Jr.... RV builders need to be forced to build better units that aren't money pits and have to be as responsible as car builders. Like Trump if you lie enough times the uninformed will start to believe you. Not me!
