  • Yoruba is BIGGER than NIGERIA. Who are the yorubas? What were they like during the pre colonial era? What is Oyo Empire? Here are some of the questions i answered in the 30 min long video. Yoruba is truly bigger than Nigeria and Africa at large. The video is what anybody that want to know more about yoruba history to watch. The difference between oyo ile and oyo alaafin. The history of Yoruba clothing can be traced back to the pre-colonial period, when the Yoruba people had a thriving textile industry. The Yoruba are known for their cloth weaving, and in the past, women would weave cloth to clothe their households. Before the arrival of Europeans, the Yoruba wore only hand-woven clothing. Ebonite was a thick, hand-woven cloth used to cover the private parts of both men and women

When I was a kid, I asked my mother what happened, and she said we were busy fighting each other before we were invaded, divided and beaten. Instead of us working together to fend off our enemies. I also read how the british even brought thugs from different tribes across west africa to come fight the egbas back then too (and i am guessing they promised them weapons or some stupid manufactured product like iphone or some shit). Anyways, that's the lesson moving forward. Africa wide co-operatiion, no more allowing these guys to use us against each other.

There is nothing like Nigerian ancestors, Nigerian culture!!!! It's yoruba culture, ibo, culture ect. We were striving nations before we were thrown together by British colonial thugs who created Nigeria to benefit themselves. Yoruba Nation is the only awnser to have a future for us yorubas!!!

The white man uses both money and gifts to buy eru. And I would like to mention that the Yorubas were already using cowries as a form of money, but is not enough or common in the communities. They use trade by barter and cowries.
If you say we don’t use money, then you don’t know the meaning of aje.
Aje olokun was our female ancestor who discovered cowries to be used as a form of money.

czcams.com/video/GoR88Hm1ZuI/video.html this was the most important part. The video shows how an external observation of foreigners on the Yoruba culture thought the Yoruba mythology was arranged in a hieratic system reminiscent of Pharaonic Egypt (Kemet). This is the most important part of this whole video. Thank you.

Slavery has part of yorubas before the arival of the whites. That is why there are many proverbs ladened with word slave (eru and iwofa) in yoruba language. Yoruba land only serviced as breeding ground for transatlantic slave trade.

It is more complicated than your comment.
European Enslavement was chattled. And generational.
Yoruba slavery was based on spoils of war. It is limited, based on certain conditions.
Beautiful captured women are often married off to the members of nobilities.

Yoruba -----Yar--uda -----Soh--Udah ----Judah. The migration of the Jews from Egypt to Etiopia to Sudan . Before they finally broke away to the interior of Africa due to war and slavery. The yorubas were formally Normad who are gravely attacked by the natives of the land until they got to where they are presently.
