everybody complains about opie, but the show is still great. He's just playing his role: sidekick. While anthony and jimmy are being funny, opie does the other stuff bc he's not funny. He's a role player. You need role players. The only complaint i have is that the show is called "The Opie and Anthony Show". That'd be like calling the early 2000 lakers "The Derek (Fisher) and Kobe years": it'd be pretty weird not to include Shaq in there, but if that was the name that stuck, what are you gonna do? Can't change it once it's been established. Opie had his own show (somehow) and was the one who gave Ant his start, so i think it's justified. If anybody's to blame, its anthony for not moving on, but i understand why he didn't want to bail on the guy who basically gave him the shot that he needed. Personally, i don't think Opie ruins the show. I think he's a role player and that's fine. Opie's pretty god damn lucky to have stumbled upon a talent like anthony cumia, bc i think we can all agree he wouldn't have gone far if theyd never met, and anthony (who was 35, working as a fucking construction worker and living a shit life) was lucky to be invited onto Opie's show and get his chance bc most never do.

And its clear thay he did it because sometimes he would say a word for almost 30-40 minutes. Ant and CK had an amazing conversation which he stopped, forcefully, here. And the fact that he used to snap at people, bring anger into the show, stop the ehole thing just to make a bad point. Nobody talks to him, from the old show. And not one guest thought that he was adding to the show. He was infact a gatekeeper for great comics, not letting them on because he didn't think they were funny. If you eould mention Opie on serius, you might get fired, was the rumor. I agree that you need someone to go to the calls and take breaks. But then look to someone like Sam Roberts, who is unlikable and an ass, but professional, doesn't kill the flow, and guests dont hate him.
