    I'm not new to guinea pigs but I have no knowledge about sewing and even less skill. Your instructions in this video are so clear and easy to follow, I'm quite sure that even I can create pads for my guinea pig cage! Thanks so much for sharing. I'm a senior on a tight budget and it's your time and effort, your generosity that makes a difference to people like me! Your parents must be proud! I truly appreciate your videos.

    Do you think it would be feasible to have a liner with one layer of uhaul and the pads with two layers of uhaul? I'm on a budget and I do have a cage that is 28 x 42 so it's a little larger than a regular cage.

    • @GuineaPiggiesDesigns
      @GuineaPiggiesDesigns  Před 4 lety

      You can use one layer, not a problem, only issue is that it would get soiled quicker so if you have 1-4 pigs I recommend you wash your liner every single day to keep your piggies dry... If you have two layers of u haul you would have to wash every three days... If you use pads in high traffic areas that can cut down the amount of times you wash, you would just have to wash the pads everyday... but up to you. :)

    On solid color fleece, how do you know which side is the good/bad side?

    • @GuineaPiggiesDesigns
      @GuineaPiggiesDesigns  Před 3 lety +1

      One side is usually more vibrant which is the good side, the bad side is usually more blurry, If it's a solid color, the fuzzier side is usually the good side. Sometimes its really hard to tell especially with blizzard solid color fleece, I just would use my judgment and use the better looking side as the good side. Sometimes fleece could be reversible so sometimes it doesn't matter which side you use. Hope this helps. :)

      I know right!! I was able to order several 72”x56”(?) UNA bundle through Amazon. I forget the price per blanket, between $2.50 & $3, but yes, we probably need to stock up while we find a replacement . Bummer!

    Do you only recommend cotton thread?? Is all purpose okay??

    • @GuineaPiggiesDesigns
      @GuineaPiggiesDesigns  Před 5 lety

      You can use whatever thread you wish.... But for me I only recommend Aurifil Thread, all other threads I have used have lots of breakage, and I sew a lot so I only use Aurifil thread..... There is Guterman thread too which is a more affordable option... But I still had breakage with it. But anyhow use whatever thread works for you... :D

      @@maryzaccone5923 I have it linked in the description in this video. :) And yes its the best! I have had no breakage with it, so for me its worth it, but it is expensive.

      Same, its atleast 50+ for good ones. I did find some on Amazon for $32 I think but that's still alot when u need atleast 2 of them, but I went to Walmart and bought some fleece wicked it and just put 2 nice towels underneath. It was only like $30 and so far is really nice.

    What kind of foot is that on your machine?

    • @GuineaPiggiesDesigns
      @GuineaPiggiesDesigns  Před 4 lety

      To be honest im not sure, its the original foot that came with my machine so I guess its a standard foot... Now my machine has a double feeder, my foot will only work on a janome 6600 because its a double feeder foot that is standard for my machine, so if you do not have a janome 6600 it will not work on your machine.

      Silver Fen It is called a walking foot. It is usually sold as an accessory for most machines, unless as she said you buy a machine intended for heavy duty sewing. I quilt a lot, so I bought a walking foot to attach the quilt binding. I have also found it useful for making purses, bags, and iPad cases.

    Is the 3.5 the tension setting?

    • @GuineaPiggiesDesigns
      @GuineaPiggiesDesigns  Před 3 lety +1

      No... Its the stitch setting... In this video my thread tension is a knob and I usually leave it between 3 and 4... But keep in mind every machine is different so just because I use my tension on those settings does not mean it will work on your machine.. You just gotta experiment with what works for you. :)
