Glenn Gould had a penchant for recurring dreams. At least he didn’t ask Stokowski to analyse this one just to imagine he was in it. Stokowski was the most unpompous musician but very perceptive and not overawed by anyone. Gould would never have dared to script his answers as he did with other collaborators.
Extraordinarily. Of course, I always knew about the radio portrait, but not of any footage?! Muito obrigado. Btw. At 3:31, they speak about MacLuhan, not "McLewyn".
The back story and a full transcript of this interview is in Glenn Gould's book "Let's ban applause". GG spent a LOT of time figuring that question out, and he did totally nail it... Too bad the rest wasn't included in this video, I recall it was all really good. (I had the book once, will see if I find it, my version was translated to swedish though.)
Very good, I didn't know. This clip is from a documentary about Stokowski that I've translated to portuguese some years ago. Thank you DimWayaa. Onegayshimasu
Even though Stokowski is talking nonsense and completely unprofessional, Glenn Gould has a lot of respect and never interrupts him. He could easily put him away. Glenn Gould was a great guy. Real artist.
Complicated questions... Hehehe even more complicated answers.. Hehehe just saying that's what's classical music is all about ain't for faint hearted one needs time of it's life to grow into to understand... Hehehe today I'm here & I do... Hehehe thx gentleman...
Glenn was exactly right, the border between artist and public will be extinguished... CZcams, the pre Renaissance attitude :)
Maestro, how hard can you troll me?
Stokowski- Endlessly!!
Two difficult people talking to each other

Does someone have the link to the longer interview footage?
At the beginning of the Interview, Glenn strips off his Shoes xD

Muito legal esses videos do Glenn Gould. Tem poucos videos dele legandados no youtube. Valeu pelo trabalho de legendá-los!
Obrigado. Achei que valeria a pena. Abraço.

I wish somebody would have asked him about his Mahler 8 premiere experience in Munich in 1910. I don't believe he left us with any recollections....
merveilleux Stokovski, qui accepte de jouer le jeu !
What’s ridiculous question. And what a ridiculous answer 😂 ya maybe I wouldn’t want to be their friend, but boy I’d love to be in their audience.
I'm so glad that Glenn Gould hung on to his day job and never tried to make it as an interviewer.
Agreed... totaly.
Stokowski tries to introduce Glenn to the world of common sense .
Where can we find the full interview please?
This is the full interview on a Leopold Stokowski documentary.
@@HARDSUBSeoutrascoisas tem online?
please read my comment above. (i would suspect the filmed interview is buried deep in the CBC archives though) @@rodrigoblaudt4405 @leonardovmusic
A meeting of the minds (LOL)! Stick to the music guys.

Wasn't he married to the wealthiest women in the world at the time ?Vanderbilt ?
Stokowski has nothing special to say.
Ah, but he says it in an extremely artistic manner...
Stoky was an impressive bullshitter, but Gouldvis better.
