Destiny 2 - The Final Shape Dialogue Differences

- Based on what I've seen playing on a completely new character, it looks like Bungie doesn't really differentiate between new characters and Veteran characters (Example: during the Visitation, Ghost talks about entering the Pyramid during Shadowkeep even though the character never completed Shadowkeep's campaign).
All footage was recorded and edited by myself.

0:55 I believe “You’re still my favorite” is for non-Hunter veteran characters (i got it on my Titan), “Good job dodging the Vanguard gig” is for veteran Hunters, and “You’re not so bad” is for new players (regardless of class)
So hunters got better treatment overall and more fun bits. You forget the crow scene where crow even says he three best hunters but if you play warlock or titan you only get the normal ol 2 best hunters. Not once does it mention are classes or make a fun connection between the other vanguards and their classes. And that’s counting countless seasons of Osiris, ikora, saint, shax, Saladin, and so on. Yet you hunters get this type of shit. Actually favoritism being shown by the devs who main hunters themselves. They aren’t even hiding it at this point lmao
@@SamFagundesCayde has always been more of a “close pal” type character, different to Zavala and Ikora who follow more the “leader” type character, so it makes sense that Cayde’s the one doing hunter comments and jokes. It’d be odd if they made the “best hunters” joke with two instead of three with the player being a hunter.
@@SamFagundesORRRRR… hear me out… the two most important and dialogue heavy characters in this story are hunters so they say things relating to hunters. Shocking and far fetched, I know.
Like what do you want them to do, insert random lines from Zavala or Ikora just to point out your class?
You are crying over a piece of dialogue? Grow up please
@@SamFagundes
I think it’s probably pretty cannon that a hunter entered the pail heart considering veteran hunter gets the most unique lines
“You can fly”. Yeah, in lore. In gameplay it’s just a slowfall death.
well you can fly in gameplay just only with some abilities and mostly on solar lol
I mean any form of Flying is a slowfall. Birds just take a reaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllyyyyyy long time to land
"Come on, come on, make it to the platfor- why didn't I mantle?! Noooooooooooooo...... crud"
*"GUARDIAN DOWN!"*
They cast Featherfall.
It's like falling slowly with style maybe
2:34 - this is a funny reference to the old Lake of Shadows strike dialogue in which Zavala gets confused that the strike was named “Operation: Babydog” by the strike name generator. Devrim couldn’t control his laughter on the comms for calling it that which makes it rare funny strike dialogue in the community.
Gideon Emery and Lance couldn't even keep it together.
They added the corpsing to the game
two fast, two furious
Two Baby Two Dog was a deep cut
I can’t believe they actually put that in the game. Sad I didn’t get it my first time through.
Wait I don't get the reference, please enlighten me
Is it just a reference to operation baby dog back in the old lake of shadow? (And the live action trailer)
@@MoonCatYT Yes, and it’s also making fun of the second Fast and Furious movie, which was called 2 Fast 2 Furious.
The 'You're still my favorite' line from Still Hunt is likely veteran dialogue. I got it, but when someone else who was newer to the game played through it, they got the 'addition to favorites' line.
I remember "You're still my favorite' as well, it'd be strange to include that dialogue for a new player, so I assumed it was veteran.
Similarly, in 2020 prior to Arrivals, I remember Calus in his trophy room reminding us of when we beat Leviathan, said "Three years ago".
I got “You’re still my Favorite” and I started during Beyond Light. Although, I did go back and do the Forsaken campaign
@@yadeel8281 then that likely triggered it.
@@cry1pticzer773 It’s funny tho, cause the earliest campaign I did was Forsaken, so I barely knew him before he died
@@yadeel8281 it does make sense, since you and him both went together, so it establishes some relationship l
Two Baby, Two Dog? Someone must've forgotten to reboot the strike name generator...
I got "Fingerguns", "boom pop wow", and "popscorn" during the Still Hunt mission
"WE'RE SHOOTIN SHANKS!"
i got the same combo!
I got screeb-magedon, boom-pop-wow and pop-scorn
I got those too
It seems the cut Transmigration line and Cayde's "You're still my favorite" and "Good job dodging the Vanguard gig" lines are veteran dialogue. Man. Thinking about how Red War Guardians are veterans now makes me feel old...
Red war is more than twice as old as base d1 was when d2 launched. Weird to think about lol.
red war was in the game for less time than beyond light has been.
The red war dialogue one is definitely still in. I've gotten it many times
I got the Ghaul line and the "You're still my favorite" line too, and i was here since Red War, so yeah, 100% veteran dislogue.
I never got the ghaul line and i played through red war back in D2 launch.
Christ, I got really lucky with Crow saying Screebhole the first time, the others are so painful 😅
I got Pop-scorn. Which isn't half bad
I got Screebhole too 😁
nah popscorn is peak, i was happy to get that
Sounds like something Krieg would say in Borderlands. Like “stab them right in the screebhole!”
I think the dialogue randomizes after a second or so play through I got the same thing too :0
Shame Cayde has no line when you completed Deep Stone Crypt. I was hoping for him to thank you for finally killing Taniks for good and avenging Andal Brask.
I feel like he'd be more relieved to hear the Crypt was destroyed.
@@perrycarters3113it wasn’t destroyed that was the space station no?
either or, still a big ass crater in tgs ground.
@@Bitter765yeah, it’s destroyed, we literally crash it down in a giant fiery explosion, that’s why there’s always scrap falling into parts of Europa
"Finally killing Taniks for good"
Yep. That sure was a thing that definitely happened. We absolutely will not get a "Somehow, Taniks has returned" sometime in the future.
2:34 Operation Babydog mentioned
I was genuinely expecting there to be a voice line involving the "godslayer" title since the witness had a line involving it in a trailer.
Same.
It was definitely way to close development wise to add that lol
One of the coolest cut lines in gaming.
Yeah it’s a real shame we don’t hear that line.
That being said, it’s likely still hidden somewhere, like the “Memories”
the "god-killer" line was used
Randomly off topic but I'm pretty sure in Dsc if you're an exo Clovis bray will say "Exo lifeforms present. Welcome home"
Sam asking a Warlock if they can fly. I wish. Heck, I’d even settle if we could float instead of run.
If you can't fly, just keep practicing. You'll be a real warlock yet :P *-floats away aggressively-*
I present to you Heat Rises, it's only for a few seconds but lets you cheese jumping puzzles.
The baby dog reference made me smile with joy I can’t lie
I really love these sorts of things, especially with being a awoken and hearing different dialogue
Please Bungie, make Wild Hunt replayable 🥺 I want to hear Cayde call me his favorite a few more times
It’s a crime that every other post-campaign mission is replayable
That first line "the our tower" one plays when you first approach the tower from the outside, right before you fight the enemies outside the Vanguard command room section. However the voiceline ONLY plays if you leave from that encounter checkpoint and then come back into the mission. Idk why but it's a broken trigger otherwise (and frankly a super important one that really should be fixed).
I know this because I got error coded out at that section on day one in the middle of fighting the enemies, launched back in and got the dialogue. Until that point I hadn't even realized that I was looking at the back half of the vanguard command center window, but sure enough.
Thanks for doing this each expansion!
I think the first time in the pale heart tower dialogue gets triggered if you have a character did the red war campaign but i could be wrong
i have a character from d2 launch and that didnt matter. I think its more likely a veteran dialogue for players that imported d1 characters. id note the player in the video is on console, whereas i came into destiny when d2 launched on pc.
Honestly, it may just be bugged; I've always had trouble getting Red War vet dialogue to play
@@clain4671my warlock's been around since d1, i have the stats to prove it.
no dialogue. might just have been cut.
I did and I have only gotten once when playing with my dad who is on an account that also did red war. It just seems to be bugged. I think I had the same issue with the grim dialogue about them being a conquered species.
@vithederg it does play it's just really inconsistent for some reason
ive been waiting for this video :D
I think I’m going to start defining cannon guardians by special dialogue they get in campaigns and seasons. Like Forsaken & Final Shape feel very much like Hunter expansions, in Forsaken you spend it avenging a fallen hunter doing gunslinger shenanigans, and in Final Shape you spend a lot of it with Cayde and Crow, scouting and pushing ahead.
Wonder if there’s Awoken dialogue with Crow. He did mention a conflict between light and dark in all awoken in the same mission with the three hunters. Though, I’ve yet to test and see if there is a difference in that as I was either Human or Exo…
I tested it myself and the line was exactly the same for Awoken and Human characters
@@Gunax332 Damn.
I was waiting for this
This was THE hunter expansion, and no one can tell me otherse
Aw that sucks I didnt get the Tower line. Weird because I have a imported character from D1.
Doing the New Light questline messes up your character's history, overwriting participation in D2 Vanilla all the way to Arrivals. The game at that point only remembers what triumphs you've achieved post Beyond Light sunsetting. Every triumph pre Beyond Light (minus some Leviathan and Forsaken stuff) has been removed, thus the game can't tell.
So moral is NEVER touch New Light.
That’s actually not true. I deleted one of my characters a while back when the new light stuff got added and I’ve also done the new light quests on my main but I still get veteran dialogue all the way back to d1. An easy way to see if you are considered a veteran is by doing the first shadow keep mission on the moon and the dialogue will be different when you get to the nightmare of crota part.
@jojak0512 D1 achievements are linked to your Legacy tab (the icon that starts the slideshow on the character select screen) and not triumphs. That's safe from being overwritten afaik. I'm referring to D2 achievements pre-Beyond Light.
The tower line in the TFS specifically mentions Ghaul/Red War, which, if you did New Light post-Sunsetting, wouldn't be in your character's history even if you imported from D1 because the game thinks you started D2 at Beyond Light.
Example, that same Shadowkeep mission has veteran dialogue if you played Season of the Drifter's "story" to its conclusion. When Ghost sees the Pyramid for the first time, he says something like "that shouldn't be here," which is what I got initially and on subsequent replays until I did New Light post-sunset. Now, every time I play that mission, Ghost says, "What is that, I've never seen it before," as if I'm a newbie while still acknowledging that I killed Crota.
Another test I advise is to go to the Exo Memory Bank on Europa (in the Eternity location), and if Ghost talks about "Cayde being in there but not the same" then your D2 Vet status is probably safe.
@@KrazyK785 ty 4 letting me know. ill have 2 check that stuff later
@jojak0512 Yeah sure np. Hopefully your acct is fine. I've given up for a fix at this point for D2, but D3 (if it happens) might a have sophisticated import system for players in my situation.
nope, they changed it after complaints so doing the quest as a vet no longer affects anything, i only did it on one character but all 3 of my vets did not get a line about ghaul
i had the ghaul one upon first seeing the tower in the first mission, don't know about anyone else.
For the first Lost City Tower voice line, I randomly got it too!
It's odd because I only played a few hours from a free Demo back in the Red War campaign and still got it.
Getting called one of the 3 greatest Hunters on my initial playthrough was a diffetent feeling.
any chance you could compile all Witness voice lines? 🥺
Especially raid ones
I would climb my Monolith into Finality if we got a BIG compilation of Witness lines
cayde saying somethign about the three sharpest hunters in the system caught me so off guard and i thought it was a 10/10 moment
im pretty sure the you are still my favorite dialog from cayde is for veteran players that at least played the red war
Ghost mentioning old tower only triggers for those who have D1 character transferred to D2
Yeah, I don't know why Bungie got rid of that, especially if D1 veterans coming into D2 after the release of the game tbh
@@bradwhite5884 its not, it may have just been random
So The Guardian being a hunter might actually be cannon
The canonical gaurdian seems to be a female titan based on a few cutscenes that the player character was in.
@@legendofacriuswithornament2019 yeah that’s stupid, the male voice actor is ten times better and a hunter is shown as the guardian in many promotions for final shape
I don't think there's any real evidence that could point towards one class.
But.
I've personally always felt like the main character would either be a Hunter or, specifically, Male Titan.
Hunter because lots of story beats and themes seem to fit the Hunter best(like Forsaken).
Titan because of the raw power fantasy. Also because the Titan was the "Slayer of Crota" in the Taken King live-action trailer.
Ultimately, YOU are the main character. No canon class as of yet.
bruh "two baby two dog" is insane.
"Babydog?"
hearing Charles Shaugnessy's brother roast you as Immaru is always funny
Definitely heard the first line about the tower on my first playthrough.
In the final mission where we kill the witness, if you completed the rise of iron campaign in D1, theres a random voice line where Saladin will refer to you as "Young Wolf." That is the only veteran voice line i could find in final shape that wasnt mentioned here.
Honestly I was expecting another bridge scene from witch queen with the dialogue
If there's any new players around, could someone confirm that Ghost says "We've seen these statues before. On the moon, Europa, the Black Garden" in the mission Requiem, because I feel that this line should definitely change for someone who hasn't completed Shadowkeep, beyond light and Garden.
The Final Shape really made the story feel like a hunter's story, and as a hunter I loved it
I bet nathan fillion had a fun time making up all those names
Reading the script?
@@eranronen573 and you don't think he made some of those?
I'm just happy there's so many Crow variations. Like yeah, in another life, Uldren or not, he and Cayde would've totally been besties.
I got the Tower Ghaul line when I played the campaign on my hunter next, was solo but I doubt that was it
I played Final Shape Campaign on my Warlock first. The second Crow said "Two sharpest hunters in the system" I thought, "They better have made him say three when you play hunter." and immediately went to check after I finished the campaign.
I’m pretty sure the “our tower” is a dialogue for new players. If you’re a veteran player he would comment about recognizing streets and areas
Thanks; I was wondering if there would be an alternate hunter line in that campaign mission.
I guess its more of a point in time story. Something they've been building the concept of since the first raid reprisals
0:21 this dialogue does play in game, first time you see the tower in transmigration right before the rally flag
Youre my favorite is veteran dialogue :)
The fucking baby dog reference… That cut deep…
0:28 - that dialogue played for me
2:38 For a second I thought, Crow is going to say "two girls, one cup".
0:21 This text DOES play in the mission, but it appears to be slightly bugged. If you exit the mission right before arriving at the tower, loading that checkpoint causes Ghost to say that line as you load in and approach the rally flag. Meanwhile I don't remember hearing it when playing through normally from start to finish.
Edit: It seems @TheRavingLobster noticed as well and commented the same thing earlier
Hunters eating good with this one
It’s kind of weird for Cayde and the Guardian to have this heartfelt reunion when New Lights would have never met them before.
i got you're still my favourite on all 3 even though i remade my titan multiple times post beyond light so i guess you have to be a really new light to be added to favourites
I think it's tied to if you have an account that played D1. Even if you delete and remake a character, so lo g as you imported your account from D1 just before D2 launched, you'll get a sizable amount of veteran dialogue. The only things you might miss out on are stuff from Red War up to Arrivals when things got sunset. But even then I feel like I've still gotten early D2 vet dialogue even when playing a remade character.
It's kinda confusing how some dialogue is account based and others are character based. In my opinion they should just make it all account based so people who did play all that older content can still be treated as they did regardless of if they make new characters or not. We players know what we've done throughout the game's history, and if our accounts themselves go back as far as D1 and D2's first three years they should just be considered veteran for everything, but that's just my opinion.
I genuinely was not expecting 'popscorn' as that was the reddit name for skorn. I like how Cayde, Crow and Failsafe break the 4th wall often.
Not too sure but i think if you have completed the GOS raid your ghost mentions the black garden when talking about where you've seen the veiled statues before.
"I dont see YOUR glitterbugs ever using a well, immaru"
Saw on Reddit that apparently Lubrae's Ruin gives you voicelines from Rhulk?
I managed to get the ghaul old tower dialogue Yesterday playing with a friend, he only played beyond light and nothing else, not the red war campaign either, so i'm thinking that it can be triggered by: a) didn't played the red war campaign b) didn't played season of the haunted c) didn't played shadowkeep, and as such, didn't fought Ghaul
hmm but he says ghaul as if you know him so it would make more sense to be vet dialogue even if no vet has actually gotten it
Kind of a shame seeing there isn't a lot of alt dialogue for vets and people with triumphs, especially seeing how many alt dialogue lightfall had
on my titan (i believe made around when they revamped the new light experience with the cosmodrome) i got the first ghaul dialogue
It's weird that wild card has randomized dialogue seeing how you can only play it once per account.
Its good to see Bungie adding detail to the game
The red war one is still in, ive gotten it many times
I had the "that's our tower" line proc for me the first time I ran through with my veteran warlock, then I went back and did it again on the same character but didn't hear it that run. Watched my sis do it too who's also a vet but she didn't get the line. No clue what's up with it. Guessing it's maybe glitched or something?
it has to be, i've made sure to avoid remaking my warlock until they added recustomisation just so i could always get vet dialogue and i still didn't get it
I think the first line is either random chance, or you need to be playing in a full fireteam to trigger it. Atleast thats how i heard it for the first time on my second playthrough of TFS story
0:25 weird this is a hunter exclusive line? I got it
i hoped we'd get special dialogue for having ace equipped
Canonically, Warlocks can fly. Not float or hover, actually fly. Indefinitely (See Osiris flying around Panoptes in the CoO final battle) sinxe Warlocks are scholars of the light and have so much understanding to it that they can manipulate their powers to absurd levels unlike the other two subclasses. But obviously in game we can't do that since we'd be OP and platforming sections would be irrelevant. PS: Warlocks taught Hunters how to blink.
I got finger guns, I smiled at that.
Im honestly glad veteran dialogue is no longer a thing. It is so goddamn annoying that I can’t have veteran dialogue despite the fact I played in destiny 1 and the same Bungie account is linked between destiny 1 and 2. The only reason I don’t have veteran dialogue is because of a stupid technicality. I took a break from destiny after rise of iron, and returned to the series during season of the soldier on my pc. It would have been better to have an option to toggle on or off veteran dialogue but no longer having veteran dialogue is certainly better then characters acting like you didn’t do things like slay oryx or becoming an iron lord
It is a thing still but it’s just kinda buggy whether or not it will decide to play.
I miss veteran dialogue...its a nice touch
What does the Festival of the Lost event have do with The final Shape? 2:58
Actually what are we classifying as “Veteran” players now?
Are we still going from D1 players or has it been bumped to Forsaken/Pre-Beyond Light?
Vets are everything pre Beyond Light
They reference the operation babydog line?
what do you mean recycle? its a new line
Damn. You’re the only other comment referring to the Babydog reference and you somehow turned it into a negative
God people whine about everything
I got operation finger guns lol
can you even replay Wild Card?
Mmmyes, quite
I'm pretty glad theres no veteran dialogue. It really sucked i had no d1 vet dialogue because i switched to pc in warmind and not shadowkeep. They should honestly just give everyone d1 veteran dialogue and assume you played destiny 1. There is a big "2" in the game after all. Having dialogue for red war and vaulted content kinda sucked for witch queen.
I think there might be a few lines for some of Micah's lost ghost quests, for example in the devil's lair one ghost mentions it being like "old times"
Operation Boom Pop Wow was successful
I swear the Neomuna missions with Sam are the worst… hiding behind cover, getting pushed off the map or from away cover and getting killed instantly. This dude is annoying as fuck.
the first one is not special its the normal
So they lied...again... sigh...
