    Nicely done! I like that you always used the torque wrench and told us the values. And, you included the maintenance reset. My only comments would be to not use the paper towel, as it can leave fibers behind causing unnecessary contamination. A lint free microfiber towel/rag is the best. Also, you didn't mention if you shut the engine off to check the oil level. I hope you did, because that is how it's done, and usually after waiting 10-15 minutes to let the oil drain back to the pan. I only say this because to some uninitiated folks out there, they may think you check the oil with the engine running, which is a big no-no.

      congrats. you're going to love the lx. oil change becomes much easier after first time. it is a pain to deal with the skid plates, the filter element (vs a spin-on), and the relatively short intervals, but it's worth it.

    • @njsongwriter
      @njsongwriter Před 4 lety

      Only thing I noticed that seemed (emphasis on the word seemed cause I'm not sure) to need a little improvement is making sure the cut outs on your oil filter cap wrench are properly engaged to the tabs on the oil filter cap. Judging by the way the wrench was wobbling, I don't think it was all the way on. Happens a lot. When you put the oil filter on I could see that everything was good.
      Anyway, I would certainly trust you to change my oil and that earns you my thumbs up. 😉

    Just did my first diy oil change on my 2009 following this video…. Great diy instruction thanks a bunch! What I found, my filter housing is all busted up from someone probably not using the right tool…. Couldn’t remove the filter plug, way way stuck in there due to someone probably over tightening prolly to avoid using a gasket…. Also my drain plug didn’t have a washer, and finally all my bolts on the skid plate were outta place, big vs little washers etc. I guess I’ll be happy to do this job myself once I replace some of this stuff, maybe upgrade to ez drain etc.

      wsa76 hi. I did my homework and looked for almost 8 months before I found exactly what I wanted. ‘08 might be the best year for used. ‘14/‘15 not so great. Got it from a first time owner that only drove it around town, so less than 70K miles for an absolutely pristine 11 yr old car (got it last November). It’s been everything I was looking for...an suv with enough towing capacity (8500lbs max), for my horse trailer . Newer LX has less towing capability. Long road trips are the best. Super comfy, and very little to no soreness after 12 hours of driving. Minimum road noise. Cruising on freeway at 80+mph got around 320-330 mile range. In town it’s horrible. That’s my only complaint about it, range on a full tank is really low for how big the vehicle is. Should have at least a 25 gallon tank, IMO. One other complaint...they don’t make a Diesel engine available in the states. But the thing is a beast, you won’t feel safer driving anything else. Anyway, best purchase in a vehicle I’ve ever made. Well worth the wait. Hope that helps

    You DON’T need warm oil when changing oil. This is a regular car design that has one drain pan that almost all the oil sits in. The oil residue clinging to the inside of the engine is so small that it’s irrelevant during a drain(about half a cup out of 5qts)
    The only cars that benefit from a warm engine drain is exotics like lambos with their multiple 8 drain plugs at different parts under the engine. those don’t have one drain pan; they’re dry sump.
    Btw this is 0w20 oil. Thin as hell. Definitely don’t need warmed even if you’re draining in alaska winter. Rookies
