La Nuvola - Split-Flap Display: Making of a Kinetic Installation

La Nuvola is a site-specific, spatial installation fabricated for the Cirfood District - a visual feast made of hundred kinetic split flap modules delivering colorful content about food to educate and inspire professionals and young generations.
The entire system relies on mechanisms designed and fabricated ad hoc for the project, custom motion drivers, and proprietary firmware - all stress-tested way beyond their limits. La Nuvola showcases up to thirty-six canvases and vibrant animations that can be scheduled over time via proprietary software, allowing flexibility in the whole system setup.
Through this kinetic installation, viewers can experience the fascinating world of kinetic art and the great possibilities of a creative application of technologies.
