You forgot to mention that Alice's photos that she's burning in her cutscene are pictures of her and *Margaret* . Alice is going through the same grief and loss that Travis is going through with the death of Bishop, but instead of taking it out through vengeance, she's expressing it through her melancholic view on the ramifications of being an assassin.

@@shawklan27 dude I feel the same way I'm like she's not at least pissed off that Travis killed her sister I sense no Vengeance or you know she didn't have like a speech about it avenging her sister. Like it feels like she didn't really care or perhaps she was pissed off but she just didn't want to show her emotions and then go in a deep rage because that will probably throw her off and you know Travis would end her easily. But honestly though I never expected that Margaret and Alice would be siblings are no more Heroes 2. Despite the last name being Moonlight and Twilight it kind of makes sense but in a way they don't look alike so I wouldn't even tell if they're like actual sisters or they could be like what step sister. But yeah Margaret and Alice were like my two favorite bosses and no more Heroes 2.

I feel the exact same way about Henry in NMH3, he just... awoke, he's no longer the irish stereotype created by the Cooldowns, now I think he's in a similar state to Kamui, something beyond a human, that can inhabit multiple bodies. And man that fight is amazing, I love how he starts with a moveset really similar to the one in his fight in the first game but later on he goes full Vergil and starts teleporting, attacking with giant swords and summoning spikes from the ground.

    • @peanut3423

And yeah, Henry's definitely my favourite boss in 3; it really does feel like an evolution of his first boss fight.

The Top 25 No More Heroes list that you made was what originally got me into the franchise as a whole, and I am incredibly happy that it did, because both the first and second games are some of my favorite games at this point.
What makes this video even more crazy for me is that I just got No More Heroes 3 and have been playing through it, and this video feels so nostalgic for me.

Oh man, I can’t believe this video was made. I was in middle school when the first list came out and I was like “games can be like that? All this violence and swearing? This has gotta be the greatest series of all time and I swear I’ll play it some day” well flash forward to years later after I already watched multiple let’s plays and knew everything I could learn about the series I still wanted to play it. I ended up grabbing the last copy of no more heroes heroes paradise from my local GameStop in like 2014 and i still remember that being one of my favorite moments in my gaming life. I’ve since 100%ed every no more heroes game and played through the first two games 20 times each. They never get old for me for some reason. Flash forward to now when I’m sitting in a Walmart at the age of 21 still thinking of how that original list affected me and introduced me to one of the most important series ever. Basically what I want to say Alex is thank you and to everyone let’s kill the past together!

This brought back all of those feelings of the past, and even if I truly got into the series real recently, speeding through each game to 3, it was amazing. And NMH3 delivered too with a lot of their fights. The overall rankings were pretty standard and I agreed with a lot of them. Loved the little analyses in-between too.
Real sad you forgot the part where Travis and Juvenile summon a literal Deus Ex Machina against Damon though before the Smash Bros. clone.
Also fun fact, since Suda and Sakurai are pretty good friends, Sakurai has played through NMH3, and apparently laughed his ass off at that final boss fight.

Henry turning into an absolutely creepy edgelord was such a fucking whiplash. I always suspected he was the Mysterious Man and i was excited to see how Henry would fight this time around but NOTHING could've prepared me for what we got.
Initially, it did piss me off to see how insanely different he was now, like he is almost a different character entirely, but EVERYTHING AFTERWARDS was a total mindfuck. He apparently didnt die after killing him and then he "kills" Travis, then we play Deathman?
That was an insanely anxiety-inducing cutscene to be left on just to get thrown into a minigame that somehow results in Travis coming back to life. Travis then happens to meet Miike and Henry is just forgotten till after the credits just to tease No More Heroes 4 i guess? It was really insane and strange and i honestly dont know how to feel about it now.
I do like the new design though. He now looks like an edgier Travis, they DO look like brothers now, but the contrast between him before and him now is fucking nuts. Like wow.
No More Heroes in general is probably the most unpredictable game series i've played, which i've come to expect when going into 3, but even THEN i was caught offguard by so many things that i kinda love being whiplashed.

Thoughts on No More Heroes 3 specifically:
-FU is absolutely the best villain in No More Heroes thus far. notonly does he get the most screentime, but he feels like a dark mirror of travis' worst traits back in the first game without absolutely any of his positive traits, and is in general a fun villain who is REALLY satisifying to kill after EVERYTHING he does.
-I feel like if SOnic Juice didn't die he and Travis could've hung out and played video games together. Pour one out for a real one.
-The fanservice in this game is great. Getting to explore Santa Destory again (albeit a VERY changed version of it), seeing references to past games with certain bosses and other things...it's wonderful.
-The final boss against Damon isn't TOO difficult especially after the pain that was FU, but its a FUN final boss and the sheer ridiculouslness of ending No More Heroes with a direct reference to Super Smash Brothers is great.
-I was so confused by Henry's change I didn't even know it WAS Henry at first (the new voice didn't help). I'm...honestly not sure how to feel about it, but I would like an actual explanation for why Henry not only is so different but seemingly has SUpernatural powers like Chloe Walsh, Matt helms and Captain Vladimir. Here's hoping for DLC or a sequel!
-I miss Jeane's anime hair from the Visual Novel segments of TSA.

The reason for Henry’s personality change is because he watched the movie Thor and realized that Travis is the Loki to his Thor even if it’s the other way around and the movie also brought some of his past trauma to the surface so now he’s making like his half sister and just wants to kill the past

Spoilers... .... ... Henry would've been more fleshed out if suda didn't end up cutting out the character appearances from silver case and in particular killer7. He was supposed to have contact with Emir Parkreiner (someone who also once learning of thier secret past got a 3rd glowing green eye"the eyes of the devil" like Henry). I'm guessing the "adults" Henry tells travis about that took Henry travis and Jeane, were a similar/same group that did the experiments on children in killer7. But all we got was the catalyst of watching Thor in TSA, man what binge watching the MCU does to a man.

There is a semi-reliable way to get around Jasper's tornado punch using a mechanic I'm pretty sure the game never tells you about. Dodge the first one and then when the second is thrown, hit block within a few frames of it connecting to perfect guard it and then you have time to roll out of the way of the third. Sometimes. Honestly it's not even that consistent. But I just wanted to thank you in some way for the major influence you've had on my life through all these years. Burn on bright, Autarch. The smash bros fight must have been cathartic for Suda as well. He worked with EA for shadows of the damned, but his vision was gutted again and again. He’s come to terms with the project’s outcome and the game’s fate itself, but judging by how he made the final boss, it’s clear he’s putting the nail in the coffin of the grudge against the people who caused that fate by making a massive middle finger to the guy in charge at the time. Your videos introduced me to No More Heroes so many years ago. I can't remember which video it is (Top 25 Boss Battles w/ Josh Scorcher?) but there was one where for every number you'd play the clash at the end of NMH1 where 'No More No More Heroes' starts blaring during the Travis and Henry fight. That clip alone was burned into my memory and made me want to seek out the series
And to see you come back after all this time to talk about the series again? Absolutely priceless. Feel like I'm home from school at my parents' house sneaking onto their desktop computer to watch CZcams again

Man, it feels great to be back! Awesome, awesome video with great commentary and acute observation on what makes No More Heroes a legendary series. It's almost magical that even after all these years, you and many others are still so passionate about it and talking about it, feels reaaaaaally good man :D
NMH3 is a game it took a while for me to fully digest, but I totally agree with your takes on it -- not only with the whole culmination of Travis' evolution from a crappy antihero in a world where there are "no more heroes" into a genuine force for good in his own right, but also the assessments on the passage of time and how change isn't always for the better. As you said, 3 is a game that REALLY likes to play with its tone; it's simultaneously the darkest and also goofiest of the series, but in a way that's so "matured" since the first game that really helps make the series really feel so "complete".
Like, I did have A LOT of hesitation going into the game mostly because that hardened juxtaposition of wackiness and darkness kinda lost its edge since the first game (2 and TSA are still good but didn't quite strike the iron as hot in that regard imo), but Suda51 and co REALLY managed to nail it for what may very well be NMH's finale. It's weird that I feel "proud" of this auteur I've looked up to for over a decade in being able to make a sequel THIS resolute, satisfying, and honestly as smart as it was, but I'm really happy with it. I'm so glad that beyond all his eccentricities, Suda still really GETS the drama and messages and themes he wants to tell.
(side note: kinda disappointed we didn't get a proper boss fight with the real Mr. Doppelganger in 3 tho lol)

The biggest takeaway from reminiscing on all the bosses throughout the series for me, is that even though there are some truly forgettable ones out there, the music at least is always really good, with a couple of exceptions. • @uberlord983
    @uberlord983 Před rokem +1

So, I've done some thinking, & I've come to the conclusion of a somewhat flaming hot take.
Not only do I think that the "cringe" factor of Henry's fight in NMH3 was 100% intentional, I think it was also meant to serve as a wake-up call to us, the players.
What are we supposed to be woken up to? The idea that Henry's been that level of cringe since NMH1.
Because while we all adore every aspect of his fight in NMH1, his personality is... a lot more shallow than he(Henry) leads us to think.
The big thing that made me realize this was a certain part of the post-fight cutscene. Specifically, the part where Henry is referred to as Travis's "foil."
The issue? Henry refers to HIMSELF that way. That right there, leads me to believe that Henry's spent the entire series hinging his personality on being the antithesis, or "self-proclaimed rival", of Travis, someone he thought was cool.
This makes his "sudden" personality change in NMH3 make a lot more sense, beyond brainwashing theories. He's had the mentality of a kid the entire time, its just far more visible when the actions that come from him acting like a kid aren't what we think of as "cool."

But in the end she was way too far gone. I also feel bad because Travis genuinely didn't want to have to get to the point where he did kill her.
Even comparing the power bomb he gave her in No More Heroes 2 to a christening he basically gave her a chance to get out and instead of her taking it she just grew more bitter.
You could almost see the shift in his demeanor in comparison to the rap battle before the fight and when she still is being insisting on just killing him even after the second power when he gave her. He pretty much realises that at this point there is nothing else he could do killing her would just be a mercy

Jasper Batt Jr is.... I feel like the attempt at making the presentation a fun boss fight failed, but I like the theming of revenge being a twisted road that changes people for the worst. Note that I'm not saying that he's GOOD, but there is something there. It's just...Buried under being Jasper Batt Jr. I do think that his phases do have some meaning to them, since this is a Suda 51 final boss why the fuck would it not, but at the end of the day it's...hard to care how "taking vengeance can overinflate one's ego" or the like. He just sucks.
