In years past, I would probably have thought of a character like Godai as a bit ridiculous and hard to take seriously. But having watched the show for the first time this year(2020) his uplifting spirit was exactly what I needed to help make some of the days easier to get through.
The most hillarious is battle againts monster that tempting kuuga to jump high that leading to his blue form. He need to run from stairs to stairs and then pushed to fall again 4 times to the ground. Thats some dark souls annoying boss battle there...
apparently, they were still useless =)), but at least they were still there =)). To be honest, the police seem most useful is in Agito (building G3 system), Kabuto (Zektor system)

My favorite Kamen Rider, forever. I doubt there is another Tokusatsu show that i would love more than Kuuga. Story, character developing, the mysteries, power-up sequence, philosophy, fight scenes, life lessons... everything is kept as realistic as possible. And one the rare shows where police is actually helpful. Godai got the power to fight, but it's Ichijou who set Godai in his way and support him with everything he can. A second rider without ability to transform and even more than that. Ichijou taught Godai and myself a powerful lesson: Even without gifted power, you can still fight in your own way, and when doing so, never ever be haft-hearted and focus on what is the right thing to do. I admire Godai Yusuke as Kuuga, and Ichijou as a selfless and dutiful police officer. Kuuga true power is these two man combined.
The Grongi are probably the only villain group/organization in tokusatsu that actually terrifies me. Unlike past and most future villains in Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Power Rangers, etc., they didn't really have a motive for most of their rampages. Think about it: Shocker, from the original series, killed people in a quest for world domination. Gorgom, from Kamen Rider BLACK, killed people in a quest for world domination. The Roidmude, from Drive, were rebelling against mankind. The Grongi? They kill people for the LOLs. For sport. They kill en mass because they have power, and they're bored. They're a roving band of serial killers trying to one-up each other. They truly are, in every sense of the word, monsters.

Taking over the world would've been a "happy accident" for them. "Holy crap, we killed all the Linto! Now what?" "I dunno. I guess we're in charge now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯"

A lot of the early Heisei villains are terrifying just by their means of killing, from the Grongi, to the Lords, Mirror Monsters, Orphenoch and so on. While definitely became tamer, the Neo Heisei era (excluding Amazons) still kept the dark tone every now and then, like Kiyoto Maki, Helheim, Dan Kuroto before he became a meme god and Sento getting PTSD.
The ending was actually pretty good. The sways the scenes played out made you think that godai died in the final battle and that 3 months later its about the side characters moving past all the grongi news
I love how little kuuga gives away sometimes. You hear about yusuke's parents, ichijou's dad, etc. but you don't NEED to know exactly what happened to them to just get it. You know how these things have affected the characters but don't need to be explicitly explained
Kuuga's still my favorite heisei KR. It's a very pure show. It's just trying something new on the foundation of an established genre, so it had nothing to lose. On the other hand, it's trying to appeal to the most number of people, so it kept itself simple and accessible. But what I like the most about the show is that it's not even thinking about merchandising or a self-image that's relevant to the current audience. It just ran with it and did a good job with what it had. And I LOVE that it didn't give a fuck about Daguva. He just showed up for like 2 minutes for Kuuga to beat his ass.
For the bike fight, what I imagine the reason for staying on the bike rather than getting off is that if the monster attempts to speed away (which was the ability of this one) then Kuuga can easily chase after it.
When I first saw Kuuga, I was reeeeally pulling myself to continue watching it, but then I began to love the show's simplicity. Kuuga's first few transformations where awesome (ie he punches/kicks the enemy as his armor starts to form piece by piece), his bike fights during several episodes were amazing, and his armor is so cool because it captures the Kamen Rider feel without being too over-designed like the later Riders. Also I love the show's overall feel, where it becomes serious at times, and sometimes a little bit but not too cheesy. Edit: Now that you mention it, I also love the side characters. They're all relatable, and fleshed out.
I enjoyed a good amount of Kuuga, despite it’s age and slower pacing. I like the characters and how a decent amount of change occurs throughout the series. I will say that I feel the climax was a little too brief for my taste, but I do like the epilogue despite it’s length.
I tried watching this season awhile back, and couldn't make it past episode 3. Then I went back and finished others like wizard and drive. Then returning back to this season recently I haven't stopped watching it and having fell in love with it.
older heisei rider up to kiva used to called as "boring" because of its j-drama like structure. And people don't expect a tokusatsu show has drama like show where everything slowly moving along. From Ichigo to Black, they were all made in episodic format. But watching them continuously in one sitting or two actually works in their favor, and I must say old heisei rider is the best from all aspect compared to showa and phase 2 heisei. I hope reiwa will sometimes bring this kind of format back.

finished it just yesterday I'd like to say that the ending theme song is pretty good and the way how Daguva's colors contrast Kuuga's is pretty nice like it's already planned to happen where two mighty warriors will have to face off each other

Only watched kuuga a few months ago and in my opinion it might be the best kamen rider series. As far as toku goes it’s fairly weak but they nail the human drama (aside from the kid who just whines in episode 3 or something). It almost made me cry which is not something that happens often

Really, you have to review Agito along with Kuuga considering their two halves of the same story. It also explains how OP Kuuga (and Agito) are compared to latter riders, including Build.

At first I was iffy on kuuga. After about episode 12 I didn’t even watch another episode for a good month, but then a friend that told me to watch kuuga was talking about it more and more so i got back into it. I’m glad I did cause i blasted through the rest of it pretty fast. I’m glad i watched it, it was really enjoyable.
Just finished Kuuga. It was a fun trip. Yusuke is great and I loved all the side cast. The Grongi are terrifying antagonist and that final battle was so intense. I love it. A great start to my journey into Kamen Rider.

Still fingers crossed for Godai to return for Heisei Generations Forever. The trailer and the poster is building up for that. I won't be feel that bad if Takeru Satoh won't be able to return as Ryotaro since we always have the Taros (Still, please have him back too).

I have watched kuuga now two times fully, and I have to say that Yuske Godai is top 5 favorite main chars for Kamen Rider ... Ichijo's char would never, but imagine Ichijo in Agito's G3 ... Epic
So I've only just got into kamen rider in the last 5 years. I have to say that some of favorite seasons are thg these older and slower seasons. But where can I find Kuga. Its literally the only season that I cant find online. I can't even find DVDs under 300 bucks.
I just finished watching Kuuga, and it was a blast. However, was the Grongi dialogue suppose to have subtitles because the sub-version I watched didn't have any. At times it would sound like the grongi were speaking in gibberish.
There weren't meant to be any subtitles, and they discuss key spoilers anyway. It's part of the mystery surrounding them, but later releases of the series do subtitle them. They speak in a cipher of the Japanese language, so fan communities were able to translate them when it came out anyway.
kuuga was my first kamen rider when i started actually watching em with purpose. as a kid i saw a couple like kamen rider ryuki and what not (ik it came after kuuga, but that was what's airing during my time as a kid) and in my humble opinion it actually made the few next kamen rider hard to watch, as kuuga got the bar so high when it comes to story telling and world/character development on point. that made the early kamen riders kinda bland and staright up goofy or even feel too episodic for me. coz kuuga smoiled me with some good feels. i guess the next one i got into not because of the story is kamen rider blade (ik, im on the minority here) but i love the costumes and the card system. story is totally meh, but i like some of the fight scenes in it.
The positive attitude of Godai and all allies literally helped me to get through a quite difficult time. The show reminded me to be positive and keep trying when there's trouble.
My one complaint about Decade is not only getting the original actor for Kuuga's world.. he found a kuuga that maybe was a rider for a couple months? This version of the rider goes from a smiling and gentle person to a fierce warrior that protects the smiles of the world!
As for agito as well the lords I didn’t really get the show that much even after rewatching the series although the first show with multiple riders in the heisei era
Rewritten and re-edited to appease Toei, so you can consider this a remake.

I've only watched a dub where it's just the Grongi language... though I think TV-Nihon deciphered what they are saying... so I'll have to watch it eventually... this is my favorite series after all ;D

I have watched kuuga now two times fully, and I have to say that Yuske Godai is top 5 favorite main chars for Kamen Rider ... Ichijo's char would never, but imagine Ichijo in Agito's G3 ... Epic

This show was my true introduction to kamen rider.
So I've only just got into kamen rider in the last 5 years. I have to say that some of favorite seasons are thg these older and slower seasons. But where can I find Kuga. Its literally the only season that I cant find online. I can't even find DVDs under 300 bucks.

I just finished watching Kuuga, and it was a blast. However, was the Grongi dialogue suppose to have subtitles because the sub-version I watched didn't have any. At times it would sound like the grongi were speaking in gibberish.
There weren't meant to be any subtitles, and they discuss key spoilers anyway. It's part of the mystery surrounding them, but later releases of the series do subtitle them. They speak in a cipher of the Japanese language, so fan communities were able to translate them when it came out anyway.
Since Yusuke isn’t the first Kuuga, I wish Zi-O would date Another Kuuga all the way back to ancient times...(1000BC?)

kuuga was my first kamen rider when i started actually watching em with purpose. as a kid i saw a couple like kamen rider ryuki and what not (ik it came after kuuga, but that was what's airing during my time as a kid) and in my humble opinion it actually made the few next kamen rider hard to watch, as kuuga got the bar so high when it comes to story telling and world/character development on point. that made the early kamen riders kinda bland and staright up goofy or even feel too episodic for me. coz kuuga smoiled me with some good feels. i guess the next one i got into not because of the story is kamen rider blade (ik, im on the minority here) but i love the costumes and the card system. story is totally meh, but i like some of the fight scenes in it.
Kuuga is one of my favorite series as its simple, slow paced in the beginning unfortunately but... love it!
I always get Dragon and Pegasus mixed up. Dragon = Blue, Pegasus = green.

My one complaint about Decade is not only getting the original actor for Kuuga's world.. he found a kuuga that maybe was a rider for a couple months? This version of the rider goes from a smiling and gentle person to a fierce warrior that protects the smiles of the world!
As for agito as well the lords I didn’t really get the show that much even after rewatching the series although the first show with multiple riders in the heisei era
I grew up watching Kuuga, so Kuuga always my favourite, to me Kuuga is the best
