The fact that they named the Duchess in the Clone Wars series Satine had to have been a reference to this movie, right? There's seriously no way that was a coincidence.
something about Ewan McGregor's emotional acting just tears my heart to pieces. He was even better in The Impossible, he's such an unique and amazing actor!
Maddy Krebs Definitely, I hate when I watch this with my sisters and nieces and they always laugh at it I'm like watch when your loved one dies you would probably be uglier than him!
I remember watching this when I was younger and I always used to think it was kind of funny when Christian sobbed really loudly in the death scene.. I dunno why, I guess I just thought it was a bit overdramatic.. but watching it now knowing what being in love with someone feels like, it’s heartbreaking to watch. Brilliant performance by Ewan McGregor.
I hated this movie the first time I went to see it at a theater. All these years later, I bought a copy at Walgreen's yesterday because it's grown on me. There is a lot of silliness, true, but the love story is actually sad and beautiful.
Imagine in real life, your wife dying in your arms like that... because it happened to me, my wife was taken away from me by a drunk driver in san Antonio tx in 1999, if your going to drink please stay home, if you don't know how to drink alcohol or beer, don't drink at all...
Oh dear, I hope she rests in peace. Drinking and driving is the worst thing you can do, everyone. You may destroy your life or the life of someone else. Please think it through before doing it. Love to all of you :)
Cannot stop watching this. It moves me a lot, usually movies or tv shows only get me crying when they are nostalgic, but this movie got me the first time I watched it. It's truly touching and it's like their emotions fly right through the screen and become your own. It even hurt me to the point where I couldn't do anything for the rest of the day after watching it. The thing is, this movie could've ended very well with a happy ending and the story would still have added up, but for the message behind the movie the death of Satine was extremly important. Without her dying, it would've taken everything that the movie worked for until it's finale. The metaphor, the meaning. It wouldn't have had an impact on the viewer, that love is truly the greatest thing one can ever learn. Not only because it can bring so much joy and happiness, but most importantly because it can cut so deep into you that the scar will stay until your dying day.
The death of duchess Satine in The Clone Wars show looks a lot like this. PLEASE SOMEONE MAKE A SATINE/OBI-WAN TRIBUTE WITH THE "the woman I loved is dead" dialogue from Moulin Rouge!!!
Ewan Mcgregor as Obi Wan and Nicole Kidman as Satine The Duchess in Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 05 Episode 16 The Lawless Satine had to have been a reference to this movie.
The special features talks about how their acting was so powerful a lot of the crew had to leave the set during Satines death to keep from crying . Such a happy story to end with such tragic loss and acting on another level.
Well you only need the light when its burning low...only miss the sun when it starts to snow...only know you love her when you let her go...only know you've been high when your feeling low...only hate the road when your missing home...only know you love her when you let her go...and you let her go
I had no idea she died the first time I saw this and I don't think I shut up about it for days after. The ending was so shocking and so startling and so gorgeous.
This is inspired by a book, "La dame aux camélias" by Alexandre Dumas fils. It's a book that plays out in the 1800s and is just as tragic as this movie. It's very different, but very similar, if anyone would be interested in reading it, I suggest it, as it's inspired by the author's life.
I don't always cry on sth I see on TV but when I do.. the reason behind my tears is usually Ewan.. he's really an awesome actor.. the hell.. this scene looks real T-T y u do dis to meeeee??
This movie is my favorite romantic movie ❤🧡💛💚💙💜 This movie makes me cry and makes me feel so much love at the same time ❤🧡💛💚💙💜 I cried with this scene 😥😥😥😥😥😥 But this movie will always be in my heart as one of the greatest romantic movies of all times ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Actually I think Nicole Kidman looks her cutest when she is playing more evil characters( like in To Die For) when she looks more mischievous. In all the sappy films she does her looks don't impress me much.
Hollywood should have given Nicole Kidman (best actress) as well as Jim Broadbent (supporting actor) oscars for these performance. I don’t remember if Ewan McGregor was nom, but he deserved that. No one was beating Denzel for Training Day that year. I think they gave Nicole the Oscar, not to diminish her performance in The Hours, the next year because of this film.
@@alanashy3514 yeah I think that was the reason.. I mean she had a wonderful year idk if was before or the same year that she won an Emmy but an Oscar for THAT acting with all those strong competitors.. mmm the most woke decision by the academy probably (bcoz the Paltrow award was a plain joke) And for that reason Nicole won the next year probably when Julianne or Reene deserve it. Like one mistake inevitable follow another's
Obi Wan should stop loving girls named Satine. They always die.

Tom Cruise divorced NK after this movie.. he cannot see a good actor...
That movie was directed by J.A. Bayona, the director of the highly underrated Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and The Orphanage.
This gets my heart every time . No matter how much I c this scene c
*"Do we kill him now?"*
*"No, let him suffer."*

Oh God! After all these years, it still hurts the heart!
Same!!!
When she quietly sung "I'll love you til my dying day" in that sweet soft voice, I just lost it.

Darth Maul killed her.
This was very well made. I can see that you feel the same emotion that these characters do. Great work.
Ewan Mcgregor as Obi Wan and Nicole Kidman as Satine

Rich 88 I’m pretty sure Dave Filoni designed Satine with Cate Blanchett in mind.
Ewan’s sobbing and crying at the end is so emotional, it absolutely breaks my heart! 😭💔
The greatest thing you ever learn is dont watch the end of moulin rouge if you dont want to cry😉😉
The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and give love in return

Best film ever ❤️
Ewan McGregor cannot act for toffee.... but!!! I will grant him this scene, where he really sobs...that was an incredibly emotional cry.
If you think he can't act, you clearly haven't seen Trainspotting... He's also pretty good in this, I find.
