- Say hello to Nikon NOIR. The Nikon Z6 II with the 24-70 f4 kit lens and MONOCHROME. This is a great travel set up for quick photo/video switches.
I'm loving the Nikon monochrome setting. I found a +1 on the contrast is great. All the photos are jpegs with slight edits (slight shadow/highlight adjustments).

Beautiful work Omar! You make it look effortless. Coming from Fuji I've struggled getting the Nikon Z picture profiles to suit my liking. Then one day I figured it out. The midtones from the Nikon were so much brighter than what Fuji does, to the point of losing saturation. So I decreased the brightness -1 in the Nikon standard picture profile and now it looks beautiful with those rich colors that you talked about earlier.
That was fun, thanks for taking us along. Agree on the neat architecture, enjoyed the shots.
Great photos - love the tones on the B&W. Big thanks for the glimpse into the Thursday headquarters. I got my first pair a few years ago and I am hooked. Two pairs of Presidents and one pair of Captains. Now thinking about a pair of Cadets. Would love to be able to check them out in a showroom!

I love these kinds of videos of yours! Very entertaining and the Nikon NOIR is gorgeous! So are those boots. I kept hearing that Nancy Sinatra song in my head...... I was considering the Z fc as an EDC instead of the z6ii. Would love to see a video on this camera. I might buy it before then though 'cuz I'm just crazy like that.
BW looks clean and very suitable for winter . It reminded me of some shots I took the other evening on the phone of the village singing carols outside the church on the village green around the Christmas tree. With the right angle they looked as good as straight out of the camera . Only a few looked muted and that applied to some of the indoor shots later. But with no stray lights hitting the lens to cause flare , and with a touch of contrast in post processing , they processed the wow factor.

OH! I so totally suck at NYC building photos..I was actually over by MSK taking a friend for a treatment and strolled around York/69th area with my Fuji X-T20 "Omar" style... every photo I took sucked! LOL! Please Omar - hold a class for us local fans! I am a big Flation/Gramercy fan for the exact same reason - but Flatiron definitely has more older more grand buildings than Gramercy. Great shots and video - as always!

Nice video. Your photos are amazing. I hope you're not giving up on Fuji. I was a Nikon gal for years (still have my first "real" camera, a Nikormat) but when I wanted to upgrade to mirrorless I was lured by the XT-2. If I win the lottery I will have both Nikon and Fujifilm but for now, I can only justify one system. Love your laid back style and humor. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

The Nikon is so good. The monochrome looks a bit more silky than the fujifilm contrast look. I'm super excited about the Nikon 28 and 40 that came out this year. If they would make a Nikon body the size of the A7c, I'd get into Nikon immediately.
tou can easily tweak the fuji profiles in-camera to your liking… i don’t see the big difference on a screen as media, between the nikon amd any other modern camera
The new Nikon 28mm F2.8 and 40mm F2 compact primes look amazing. I am leaning towards the 40mm F2 which incidentally only has 6 glass elements. Reminds me of the older AI and AIS lens constructions of yesteryear. Classical rendering.

Adorama should have had a picture of you beside Joe McNally's. Also those were some very nice stills in the Thursday Boot Company that they could use in their advertising. I liked their boots and I'm a girlie (we tend to go by comfort not size!!!!). Merry Christmas and a successful New Year to you.

I'm a huge fan of the "Carbon" picture control for B&W especially for street work.
This is where Nikon's marketing fails. Fujifilm makes a huge fuss every time they add some film simulation to their new cameras, and Nikon just puts 20 of them plus all the detailed adjustments to it and then never talks about it except in the manual.
Nikon Engineering is amazing but I agree their marketing sucks!
This is too funny. I'm a Fuji shooter and *love* their film simulations. Looking at upgrading and wanted something similar from the FF choice I go with... sounds like that .. might be Nikon? I had no idea they had any.

@@balto3273 I rented a Z6II but didn't end up taking the plunge. The lens options didn't really work for me. I ended up going Sony, with a Fuji X-E4 and two pancake lenses for moderate travel, and Ricoh GRIII for pocket sized travel.

I have a pair of Thursday Boots super high qaulity! I sized down from 11 to 10 to get it to fit as I heard leather boots stretch. They fit now like a glove! (captain in Arizona)

Omar! I thought I was the only one that loved the Nikon black-and-white picture profile. I shoot mostly Fuji (and adore Acros), but my D850 pretty much lives on the Monochrome profile. Something about the way that generation of DSLRs render B&W is hard to replicate in post. Anyways, love your work. Cheers!

Nikon's new B/W Picture Controls are underrated but they are very, very good. Kinda like people who buy Lumix cameras may not know that it has one of the best B/W picture modes out there.

Very nice work, Omar. As I "always" shoot raw only, with my Z 7ii, Z 7 before, and D cameras before that, I guess you set your camera to shoot JPEG (too) and chose the [Monochrome] Picture Control. Then the question is, did you modify the "Picture Control Settings" for [Monochrome] or did you apply the alterations you mention in some app in post?
PS I know that Nikon's in camera raw processing is extremely good, by the way. I guess for event photography (I exclude weddings) actually the JPEGs these cameras produce might be what "we" only really need.

Excellent video, I liked a lot comparison between Adorama and BH, your face expression is unmatched...:) I'm struggling right now with conversation of some of my images to B&W, my sister wants them on her wall. I just can't get rid of colour cast after printing, they look good on calibrated screen, it drives me crazy. Any suggestion would help... thanks.
