    I really value customer service when I go shopping, particularly at higher end shops. It will never cease to amaze me why some people are willing to prostrate themselves at the threshold of Hermes just to be considered a purchaser of one of their bags. Where is your dignity folks?

    I think HermĂšs U.S.P is sustainability, owning goods for life and passing them down and quality. And I really admire that about the brand. You can observe other luxury brands launching trendy bags ( prada, Jaquemus, bottega, gucci) and they are easy to get as long as you have the money. But the following year when the Jaquemus mini bag and the Bottega casette with the thick gold chain are out of fashion they end up in being sold on and perhaps even thrown away after a few years. It's a bit like expensive fast fashion. Whereas if you spend 10k on a birkin, you know was hand made by a highly trained crafts person, employed in fabourable conditions, using the best quality materials and techniques you will keep that bag forever. I think HermĂšs manufacture so few bags and only offer them to long term customers, because they want their customers to be people who value sustainability and good quality.

    Plus all this drama is coming from one sided stories - customers who want to get a birkin / Kelly quickly and cheaply from the store. On the other end, SAs are bombarded by rude customers demanding a Birkin or Kelly immediately while they have long term customers who have been waiting for months. Are they really supposed to sell them to whoever walks in? Also there are literally hundreds of other products Hermes is happily willing to sell you with great service with no fuss. Why isn’t anyone complaining about not getting a silk scarf (beautiful signature products from Hermes’) or garden party (Hermes’ tote bag) for instance. It’s a case of wanting to get an exclusive item while not having the patience to wait for it. If demand outweighs supply, something’s gotta give!

    You are so right the Hermes game is insane!!! I do think their wealthier, well-known (i.e. celebrities, political figures, corporate CEOS) customers can get a Birkin on the spot without any of the games. However, I believe the 10k a month spend is a game being played to the thirsty, status-hungry customers. Hermes wants them to prove their loyalty to the brand and that they can spend 10k a month in Hermes goods.

    I think it’s that these bags are rare - they take a long time to make - so they want to offer them to their loyal patrons. Loyalty is defined by spending in various categories and over a period of time. If they offered them to everyone off the street with no history, there wouldn’t be enough for their loyal customers. Especially lately since social media has driven interest in them through the roof. I also think I’m the beginning they are trying to gauge who will be a long time customer vs those that are there to just buy the bag - or worse is a reseller just looking to make a quick buck. Don’t dress any other than you normally would. Be yourself. And if you start to buy the brand the bag will come organically. Though you’re right it may not be the color you initially asked for. Great video by the way. Really thoughtful.

    I did not stress with hermĂšs at all. Only bought what i always liked. Waited only 1 year without paying a premium. Might got very lucky, but happy about not stressing in Paris. My attitude visiting the store has been relaxed, happy and humble. Im always polite, i never asked for qouata bag, and kind of had the attitude if i really want i could buy these bags anytime i want. Think the last point there, kind of shined through with showing stuff the store could not get for me, asking for history prices, not asking for prices in a stingy matter, sometimes buying stuff without looking at prices at all. ..so...i donno... maybe two can play that game.

      I’m with you! I absolutely never ever got a bad treatment in Hermùs! I also never acted desperate because I never been desperate for a bag! I’ve got many offers by just buying what I love there. Social medias make us think that we will always be treated badly, that you have to play a hard game. Maybe the real lovers of the brand have a totally different experience, actually it’s what I think now. Or maybe I’m older too, so I don’t need or feel I have to prove anything and they see it right away. Who knows, but I will suggest to people to just go in Hermùs if they like the brand because your experience can be very pleasant, it’s not all horror stories!

      I was listening to super dacob, he mentioned that Hermés might collect data about where people live, they often ask what they work with ( this is a trick question because it reveals perhaps private information your not ready to share) . My point is that living in an expensive area might increase the chance of getting a bag offer.

    • @Bestlifemiddleage
      @Bestlifemiddleage Pƙed 5 měsĂci

      @@carrino15 Hermùs is known to prefer long term clients so living in the area where the boutique is helps tremendously for sure. Some boutiques around the world won’t even sell a bag to a tourist. That being said, my home boutique gets a lot of tourists, the whole mall does. In all the luxury boutiques around, they ask if you are local and I can tell they love when you say yes. It’s just logic, if they give you a good service, they know you are close by and you’ll come back , while a tourist might never be seen again. But Hermùs really push a relationship, that’s for sure, long term clients is a priority for them.

    I find it crazy sometimes this types of videos. In my Hermes store the people are super nice with me, sometimes I just come by to say hi just because the SAs are at the end of the day people and they enjoy more having a customer they can share more about their life that a boring entitled customer. I have gotten 2 Birkins 25 (noir GHW and gold PHW) with almost no history (2 scarfs for the 1st one and a scarf and a belt for the 2nd one) just by coming by and really connecting with them like friends.
    I feel the SAs will more likely sell you a bag if you are interested in the brand and in them, rather than just being an entitled person spending a LOT of money and expecting a bag back. I have heard a lot of RUDE customer coming by and demanding a bag, and the SAs are always just laughing of how so entitled some people are.

    The Hermes game is heavily exaggerated online. Hermes staff are very high caliber and nice. My city is a very competitive store and they’re still nice. They may be aloof to new customers initially because there are literally tons of resellers or one time customers trying to game the system and resell the bag. The cost price of the birkin is about 15k but it can be sold immediately for 30k. What Hermes is looking for are customers who enjoy their products as well as their bags. Their bags are handmade by artisans, and they can’t meet the demand. For those customers who enjoy Hermes products like me, it’s actually a real joy to shop! I get things I like and also a bag if I want to. For those who dislike Hermes product, they are free to go on the preloved market. In reality most customers are happily shopping at Hermes’ or they take their business elsewhere. All this drama is just talked about online ~ also! Chanel has started this as well where the prioritize their VIP customers (high spending) for sought after bags and SLGs - again because of the resellers! It’s just a game of supply and demand at the end of the day ❀

    Hi, you ask what we Think about Hermes and their “game”. First of all, I got the exact bag I whished for. I mean exact! Everything was as I whished for. And second, I got after 7 month from entering the store for the first time in my life. Yes ive spent Money on other items, but thats because at really Love Hermes! And I only buy what I truly love. Its not really that complicated and people should stop being so upset about how Hermes choose to run their business. Its how they decide to do it. And if people dont like show it works, then dont go there. And stop demanding a bag if you dont like what comes a Long with it. Then the bags are just not for you. Its acctually very simple.

    I won’t play the game to be offered a Birkin or a Kelly. That’s just me. I have bought a scarf and a notebook from the store and the staff were really nice, but I can’t imagine buying thousands of dollars worth of stuff I don’t want just for the possibility of being offered a bag. I do have two Hermes bags, both preloved and vintage and I am so glad I went the preloved route instead. I got them both under retail and they are exactly what I wanted. It’s true that the markup on the small bags is outrageous but if you like the larger ones you can find them for very reasonable prices, especially if they are vintage.

    I actually met lovely people at Hermes - I am a die hard H lover but I am not into the Birkin and I rarely buy in the store. I quite like the pre-loved market because the game is nonsense to me. I don't care for the boutique experience enough to insist on buying this way - it is almost like validation or something (I am worthy etc) if you keep going and don't really like the items you buy or worse, buy a B or K you don't like or won't use. I don't think it is about ultra-rich - they want to keep supply low to keep demand and the illusion of luxury and special items high - so how do you choose who gets one? lottery, luck, first come first serve - but then also just really good customers. This is turned a bit perverse - instead of selling to those that buy a lot, it is has become buy a lot to get sold one.

  • @sosodef0
    @sosodef0 Pƙed 5 měsĂci

    ....who is spending $10,000 a month?? If they are, they're doing it wrong (or have deep pockets and really like shopping at Hermes 😅). The "game" is establishing a purchase history with the brand to "prove" that you're loyal to that particular store - and not a reseller trying to flip the bag for profit. It usually requires spending on non-leather items that total up to at least the RETAIL PRICE of a Birkin or Kelly. (this is key: the retail price is significantly less than what these uninformed media outlets are reporting. Auction and reseller sites always list these bags for 2x-3x more). So, if one of those bags is $11,000-$12,000, the store would like to see the customer spend at least that amount, before purchasing that particular bag. Sometime you get lucky and spend less; other times, it might be more (like 2 or 3 times... so $22,000-$36,000).
    But no, it doesn't mean someone has to spend $5000-$10,000 per month - only the wealthy VIPs (or someone with a serious shopping addiction) do that.

    •  Pƙed 5 měsĂci

      I was just using a random number as an example. The point was that you need to spend a certain amount before being offered a bag rather that’s $10,000 in total or a larger amount. But yes I agree with what you said! 😊
