  • 28 June 2024 at the south end of the island of Cebu, Stella and I enjoyed a close encounter with a shiver of whale sharks . Despite their large size and shark-shape, whale sharks aren't dangerous. They are filter feeders. They have no teeth. They eat phytoplankton, macro algae, krill and sometimes small crustaceans such as crabs and squid. In the village of Oslob, the local tourist bureau runs a daily program where folks can spend 40 minutes snorkeling with these *gentle giants*.
