- and we are back, although I have to say that this and the next two vlogs are a few weeks old, even though I was on a break I could not see myself not filming the exciting things that happened while I was away.

My grandparents farm is next door to a Hutterite colony in Minnesota. I actually got a tour of the colony with my children. My grandparents had become friends with the managers wife. What lovely people the Hutterites are & who are doing the right things. The garden produce they grew was huge and they are very amazing seamstresses. I was so impressed and still love them all.When my grandma passed away 10 years ago I donated her organ/ piano to the Hutterites. 💞🙏
I grew up about10 miles from a South Dakota Hutterite colony in the 1960s, and townspeople expressed a lot of curiosity and misinformation. Your vlog posts in which you share your life have been so interesting to me. Instead of struggling with excessive restrictions, you show us a life filled with joy and creativity. It's amazing what a group on people working towards a common goal can accomplish!

Giselle, I love your videos. They make me feel a little homesick because my Dad was a Hutterite, a Kleinsasser. We now live in California and though I never lived in the community, I visited my grandparents often. I really miss hearing German too. Dad doesn’t speak it much anymore. Sending love!

Bakery trick I learned: have a cup of hot water near you as you scoop and regularly give your scoop a swish. It makes it easier for the dough to come out of the scoop.

I actually love German, and French. Spanish was too hard for me. I don't know why I didn't switch back into French for the community college. I need more of a schedule. I admire that of the Hutterites. I need an Orcam Learn for reading textbooks now. I have astigmatism.

such a gifted baker. glad to see you again. i am sure there is alot going on there in the summer months. i agree with the others statements about the music at the end. so up lifting and a blessing to a great vlog. prayer request: i hav a best fren who is battling liver failure. she is like a daughter to me and she is in hospital right now. retaining water. she is nothing like she was before. we all retired in 2019. hurts me to see her like that. thank you all.

I remember that one about the cookies your mum was baking the apricot ones. And you were making chocolate chip ones. Your mum won with the apricot ones, must say I really enjoyed that one your mum was great at that time. Well they cookies must have been great to make them a regular desert. Its good that mum's still help their daughter's cook , that doesn't happen so much thease days your on your own whether you like it or not.

I think you could use the foodprocessor to chop the apricots if you added the sugar to the processor as well. Just do it every so gently.
I think it would end up more of a paste or end up in a ball because they are so sticky, i have tried it before with dates, i do wish it would work would be much easier 😊

Those cookies look delicious. My favorite cookies are a shortbread thumbprint cookie with apricot jam in the center.
Ohh we have one that sounds similar it has poppy seeds in the cookie dough and we add strawberry jam 😊
Nice to see you. I have a suggestion to wear hand braces to prevent carpal tunnel syndrome caused by repetitive and excessive use of your hands. Any women on the colony experiencing sleeping, dead hands? I had surgery on both hands to release it. I also didn’t own a dryer so hung laundry daily for 36 years who knew it would cause arthritis? Please look into ways of keeping your hands from needing surgery. Aloha ❤
Hmmm i know there are people that have it in colonies but i don't hear about it too often, but i do agree it's best to take care of and think about things like this before we have it 😊

It's great to see you back! I hope you have enjoyed the summer this far. Your baking always looks so amazing! I finally got to try some Amish baking yesterday after discovering they had a little stand set up for selling baked goods. I didn't even know there were Amish near me. After having tried it, I am sad because I'm in love with the goodies I got and have nearly ate them all. Now, I have to wait until Saturday to buy more when she opens again. Nothing beats home made baked good regardless of who makes it.
