Bruce’s cries just break my heart. My new rescue dog has separation anxiety too but she’s gotten much better recently. She was in a similar situation to Bruce and it just hits so close to home.

This is my recuse dog to a T. He was year old when we got him and already been through 4 families. He would go completely insane when we would leave him. Chewing up walls and window blinds and everything else. So we tried leaving him outside, every single time he would find a way to get out. Jumping fences, digging holes, literally climbing the fence. It was awful and so so sad. We had no idea how to handle so we literally would take him everywhere with us. He was okay if we left him in the car for a bit but ya know, it was absolutely impossible to really do anything. He had already been through so many families I knew we had to just deal with it or it wouldn't end well for our sweet boy. Here we are, 4 years later and he's calmed down a lot... which I believe has a lot to do with the fact that we did take him everywhere with us and that last year we got him a younger sister to tire him out. Bruce is literally my boy Axel 4 years ago. Even looks like him lol good luck!

my dog has this severe separation anxiety. imagine, you just go to you bathroom or bedroom, then once you come out, he's crying and very excited and running crazy like you don't see each other for a year.

They make weighted vests for dogs with separation anxiety, I would highly suggest this for poor little Brucie💔

Dogs are smart and sensitive. Giving them lots of praise will make them feel happy and secure. When your dog does something good, praise him a little too loudly. This will make your dog feel affectionate, which will fill his heart and help him grow up healthy. It is also important to enjoy walks with your dog. A walk is an important opportunity to experience many things together with your dog. Talk to your dog, give him treats while walking, make eye contact, etc., and deepen your relationship with your dog by communicating with him.

it is an untrained dog and they do not have enough common sense to get a rehabber. it is a dog and not an unhappy child

As someone who has separation anxiety, it is terrifying when someone you love goes somewhere. You think they’re never coming back. I feel so horrible for Bruce because I know that it’s caused my trauma so he must have gone through something horrible

I'm over shows that always show the client at the start of their journey. I need to see the end part of the journey. I've tried the protocols for fixing separation anxiety and everytime they fall down because they don't fit in with real life. Mostly just the very rich could afford to fix this issue. Still I will persevere. I have to pay a lot of money (which I don't have) for pet sitters all the time.

My current pup was abandoned at 6 years old and spent 6 months at a shelter. Now she has severe separation anxiety. She screams/howls the entire time we're gone and scratches at the doors and windows.

Our neighbor's dog jumped through a second-story window after she left for work one day. From that point on we babysat him until she came home from work. I felt so bad for him, but after they moved they took him to a vet for ideas to help him adjust. Until I met him, I had never seen a dog with a pacifier, but he used one.

Bruce is looking for a way in. I had a 2 year old rescue Rhodesian/pit mix(the best dog ever) 10 years ago he had such separation anxiety.
