The good days of online Smash Bros. when you could switch characters between matches while still facing the same opponent and being guaranteed the ruleset you want. No being forced to play free-for-all matches on normal stages with items and final smashes on when you want to play a more competitive ruleset.
Next smash game better bring that shit back

@@bonkgameing the way you slowly fly across the screen like you're being gently pulled by a tractor beam. (Unless you use a custom little Mac with critical hit capability, and two trade off attack heavy weight boxing gloves, then nothing you hit EVER flies slowly. Customs are way more fun than spirits imo)

@@linkadogspast bro custom moves were broken with some characters, though I discovered that for some reason, after your attack stat starts breaking limits (even if you already have 200, abilities like trade off attack still stack higher with it, breaking the cap, which is why my Mac is so stupid, he pops shields with two jabs if he crits.) Moves like mighty falcon punch somehow have less power and do less damage than the normal falcon punch with the same damage buffing setup, not sure why this happens with some characters buy it's very disappointing when it does. If you do the stupid attack setup with villager though, his down smash to up smash just kills at 0.
The taunt is understandable because you can't do that in ultimate. People need to release their BM somewhere.
Funny how they can only do that in the safety of their own home though

Another unwriten rule of taunting is taunting during respawn invencibility to say "yoo, that shit was cool!"
it could also be a way to day "I'm sorry" after a SD, but crouching delivers the message (maybe better, while we're at it)

My ultimate Mario still sucks cause I over rely on up tilt and it's annoyingly bad
For Glory on Wii U is probably one of the most toxic online systems in gaming. Lag switchers, trolls, 1-win dippers, and straight up parasites.
Funny story: Back in 2017 me and my cousin were doing duos and we went like 5-0 (we were going easy at one point and still winning). Then they switched to double Mac and got a Mickey win (aka flicking the c-stick) and all sudden their names started changing (you could change your name online and settings). They were saying the most outta things. Calling us the hard-r, f-words, immigrates, etc. Keep in mind me and my cousin were like 12-13 years old so they were cussing out kids lmao (unless they were the same age). However, we didn’t cry, matter of fact we were dying of laughter bc it was so funny how ppl switch up when they get 1 win and think their lil insults are gonna work. Ofc they dipped afterwards but I never saw them again. Makes sense why you can’t change your name online in ultimate to avoid situations like this and there was barely any censorship on name tags back then. Overall I will miss For Glory but holy shit I’m glad we don’t have to experience that environment again 😂
I think if you switch your name in smash ultimate you will get deleted from that tournament.

I seriously think removing the ability to taunt altogether in elite smash was a horrible idea. I can only assume the reason was to minimize toxicity but like...teabagging exists and is way more toxic than a funny lil taunt

I thought the point of taunts WAS showing off and being mean, but if you can cancel them, they're not as meaningful simply because the taunter is NOT commiting completely to mock you... it's just more spammable since you can Taunt Cancel into taunt, and I don't know how's that a good thing... not like it matters, because they banned online taunts altogether beyond arenas.

I would be playing the 3ds version if my 2ds didn't fckng die for some unknown reason.
Don't have a Switch or Ultimate (but watch a lot of content), but I feel like I'd get so tilted with all the busted characters, and mechanics changes that make it a lot easier for scrubs to do well. At least in Smash 4 there are only a couple of truly OP characters, as opposed to almost all the DLC in Ultimate

The online modes don't have a subscription paywall in the way. That's my biggest reason.

I repaired my 3DS XL’s entire circle pad mechanism the other day, inspired by your previous Smash 3DS For Glory vid. Was really disappointed to discover that the game is no longer playable. It boots to the start menu but as soon as I press start it freezes on a black screen and I’m forced to hard reset. Seems some people online have reported update 1.1.7, the last update that was released for the game, really messed up the game for a lot of systems. Seems New 3DS XLs don’t have this problem. Really a shame, as I was hoping to take a trip down memory lane after watching your videos :(
If anyone knows more about this and can help then let me know.
This is interesting. I've never heard of update 1.1.7 causing stuff like this. I've been playing Smash 3DS regularly on my New 3DS XL since August 2018, and I got that 3DS a year before, so I wouldn’t have played update 1.1.7 on my old 3DS. I wonder if anyone else has had this issue.
@@radioactivecheesenowinnucl4746 I’ve found a couple threads online of people reporting being unable to play Smash on their 3DS, and it seems like it can affect all models and even affected some people who have digital copies of the game. Obviously the game works for some people still, but I don’t know what the common factor is among those it doesn’t work for. All such posts online that I’ve found are dated after the final update released, though I’m not sure how immediately the problem arose. The game being unable to make it past the start menu, having infinite loading screens, or crashing as soon as you try to get into a match (with some people saying only certain characters caused crashes), all of this is probably due to a multitude of factors (firmware, maybe the age of the cartridge being used, etc).
What might be helpful for me to know is if anyone has purchased a new copy of the game after the 1.1.7 update came out in July of 2017. Apparently if you were to buy a brand new copy of the game today, it comes with the 1.1.7 update preinstalled; in which case, do newer cartridges work totally fine on any 3DS model? Why would some people have the problem with digital copies if not due to a flaw in the way some models of 3DSs (or 2DSs) interact with the 1.1.7 version of the game?

Can understand it being irritating or frustrating at times but if it's enough to make you quit you're too personally invested in it, especially if it's just online and not something like an in-person tournament.

Getting invested into COMPETETIVE games is actually the purpose. This why there is a a ranked Mode to begin with. Its simply annoying to have people try to disrespect you at any moment in 50% of matchmaking in certain games when its their toxicity nagging at you for pretty much the entirety of the gameplay. From a gaming perspective in a game like this I absolutely agree, having one guy be goofy like this once in a while doesn't taint the experience of the game at all. But you should see other games with a more toxic playerbase where the only solution not to get insulted at every moment is to deactivate the chat function. For example have you ever activly played lol ranked? Many people like me quit these games based entirely on that. And this just reminded me of those...

Taunts and t-bagging in Smash are harmless compared to how nasty people can get in LoL and the vast majority of players who constantly BM are pretty bad and will usually ragequit after getting their asses handed to them a few times.
I know that I might be in the minority but I like smash 4 ganon better than ult just because of upsmash, nothing else.
