I wish people would stop being so sensitive when you do videos like this. Guys we all have common sense and know anyone can scam anywhere but she lives in Gambia so she's just saying what she's experienced. Just do your research.
By the way I love your videos I live in America but you've really inspired me to visit Gambia I never even thought about going to Africa before I saw your videos. It's like watching a movie or something Gambia looks so colorful.
Thank youuuu! 😅❤️ aww I appreciate this comment so much! I’m glad I was able to make you feel this way! Hope to see you over here!!
Me and my family just started our Journey to Africa Vlog as well and we're so excited to document everything on CZcams!!!!
@@NubianThreads where do I find your Africa Vlogs? I want to visit Gambia but other parts of Africa as well! Thanks 🙏🏽 😃
The weight loss is also due to change in diet I think, and a loss of appetite because of the heat, which makes you drink a lot more water.
Not loss of appetite lol the food in Gambia is too good to loss appetite.
Ade Torrent Im guessing the food is much cleaner and more natural too!
Lots of walking also does that.
@@yankzjannehanafits6133 Never been to Gambia and I'm sure the food is really good from what I've seen but you do lose appetite when you first move to a place that's much hotter than what you're used to.
Without changing your diet, start walking 3-4 miles a day. You WILL lose fat. Now change your diet to less carbs/garbage and more healthy fats and you WILL lose more fat. Then start resistance training and you will look and feel like a totally different person. Guaranteed!
I am a Gambian living in the US, all I can say is you are so honest and on point in lining out your 12 steps visiting The Gambia. Keep up the great work, and stay safe.
I need your guidance I'm from.us I'm visiting gambia soon I have someone there I don't have my passport yet
Gambia is actually peaceful then I expected... I have been here 8 months and I haven't experienced thieves.
Ok
I don't understand why AA hold Africans to a certain standard. All humans regardless of race are capable of destruction and construction simultaneously.
RO Tail they think they’re saints
@Wilbur English Text me on Instagram, I'll connect you with someone that won't exploit you of your money...

The yellow taxis are the local taxis and they are the ones you need to be careful of they are not licensed or have insurance.
The green taxis are tourist taxis they are much safer and if you forget something in the car you are more than likely to get it back.
The good tips also would be don’t start friendships by using money like you buying your friendships
Wilbur English who buying friendships here in America 😂😂 the lies
@@BlessedBeyondBelief83 You have to be kidding? People buy friendships all over the world.
yes exactly i was born in The Gambia and buying your friendship is a very bad idea
I agreed with you.
@Wilbur English I'm not over looking anything. One thing that I have never seen is someone by friendships 😂😂 self esteem have to be low to do such a thing. Keep the make believe to yourself.
you know Kunta Kinte has family thats alive & they live in Gambia 🇬🇲
Watch her get to 40k by the end of this week!!!!!
I hope so! 🥺💕💕
Right!!
Why?
@@leeayi243 because she's doing an amazing job in what she's doing😊
Scamming has become the norm in Africa and it's not good. Negotiation is almost pointless if u av an accent or you look rich.
Great video! I am excited that you’re going to do a video on the hotels! I have now added The Gambia to my list of African countries to visit.
I can't deal with sexual tourism in my face. Pedophilia right in front of me... I can't be in Gambian jail. 😤
@andrew clark Art Cathey is an ignorant witch. She assumed a man was trafficking a girl simply because he was WHITE..Her father was there with her. She has no wisdom or tact. She ain't saving no one.
And u should not have too
@@Simplyolivia1000 example number one.
@@koyance they not humble, they just don't want to hurt gambian feelings. Cause gambians like to pretend everything is ok when it's not. Thank God for her and getting them to at least talk about it.
People just need to dedicate a site and take pictures of these pedophiles, splash their disgusting sick face all over the internet for everyone to see. Don’t confront them.
thank you. this is the FIRST TRULY THOROUGH video I've seen on youtube about The Gambia. NO ONE else has been this HONEST. I truly appreciate you and your efforts.
The Gambia, the most peaceful nation in Africa. 😍😍🇬🇲🇬🇲🇬🇲🇬🇲🇬🇲🇬🇲
Hannibal Barca. Sex Tourism is a global issue. You can vomit 🤮 no one give a fuck. No country is 100% perfect. It’s not as people re saying. We have peace which many countries in the world are lacking! I can tell you majority that re involved in what you’re talking about re non Gambians. Whenever you meet one try and speak to them Gambia’s native languages and see if they wil respond. Even your country have issues that you cannot address
The Gambia you sound like you are part of the sex tourism! Go hard to justify it
@@bahdembo1171 leave this Fool alone
sassysid100 I’m not part of that shit. Some of you, are just liars. How dare you said it’s all over Gambia as if you travelled all over the country. There re Gambians who never step a foot in the tourism area.
Africa is For Black thank you 🙏
This video really helps alot for those who want to come back home. Keep up with the good job💕👏🏾
Thank you beautiful!! I appreciate it! 🥰🥰
Another informative Detailed and honest film regarding very important things to know before visiting Gambia, thanks Ricki Denise for the helpful Authenticity in assisting others in learning what they need to know Very cool video.
Hi Ricki Denise, thanks so much for this video. We are really looking forward to our visit and your videos are super helpful!
This video is fantastic! My Mommzz shared it with me, and I’m looking forward to my return to West Africa. Much love and appreciation, SiSTAR 🙏🏽😻💕✌🏽🥰
I learned the hard way, walked from hotel the palmer Rima to go to the desert shop across the way, this guy approached me saying he saw me at the party last night & he was telling his wife about me And that I should come and say to his wife as she’s having a bad time with her pregnancy and I would cheer her up, i started to follow him thinking everything was ok as he seemed friendly and seemed ok then I looked over to see some people playing dominoes and they started to shake there head at me as if to say they knew something bad was going to happen, so I stopped and just started to cross the road and went into a shop to get help, it all crazy the guy was getting angry that I wouldn’t come out the shop, I dnt no what would have happened if I didn’t look up 😔
I’m so glad that you looked up and saw the warning signs!!! 🙌🏾
There are always signs👍🏽
I am living in the US , and theives here are enough, dont need the stress. Thanks for depressing mre, 😂 i mean the lady that shared her video.
Am glad you escape ryt on time. They wouldn't hurt you physically, Gambians hardly do that but you would have been robbed
Africa can be horrible am from southern Africa poverty is the cause of everything
I want to come to Gambia when the pandemic rises, and I’m am very thankful that you given me information on what to look out for and what should a tourist need to know before coming to Gambia.
Love your videos. This was so insightful!
Thanks. My brother just got there yesterday and I along with our mother will be coming next. Going to open some businesses there and help out in the community. So the tips are very helpful. ❤
Thanks for the tips and honest perspective of living in Gambia, I definitely feel you on the disgust with sexual tourism, which the gov't should be doing much more to punish European visitors. I'm looking forward to that video because it validates what our sista Art Cathey has been saying all along.
I cant see that I would have to call police ..sad they probably are paid off and wont do anything 🥶🥶🥶🥶
Whar is your problem with sex tourism??? So long it is not pedophilia no one's business.
It's not just Europeans I know many rastas with teenage wives too!
@@Xchromosomerules Exactly! The Europeans are what they all waiting for .. it’s the locals that need to be punished! Without demand there will be no supply ..

Thanks for all of the tips and being candid about the experience! Shows like it will be a lot of fun if you know one of the natives .

Good that you said just like any other countries because I travel a lot and when you can’t speak the language people always want you to pay more most of the time. I don’t like the word scammer that’s why I don’t use it

Great stuff, very informative video!
Lovely list, Rickeyta! My first visit in the Gambia was last summer, and I had to learn the hard way too to take care of the personal belongings. It was too easy. 😅 The silly thing is, I didn't even consider it happening until after the fact. I've learned from it, though!
Hey Ricki, Instead of talking extensively about how folks are getting ripped off due to not knowing the local prices, you could have given some examples. Such as: taking a taxi for such and such distance (2 miles/4 kilometer or whatever as an example should cost so and so much). Buying a kilo of vegetables/potatoes etc should cost apprx so and so much. A medium or low-end price hotel room during such and such season should cost apprx so and so much. Just a few examples using the most common expenses
+Anna Smith : Perfect Comment. I agree 👍 👍 ❤️ 😊, She's Beautiful and a wonderful Daughter of Zion. I love her and her Parent's CZcams Channel Page. Shalom, Salaam Daughter of Zion. 💋💗💞🥰🕎😍💕💖👄
Yes sorry I didn’t go in detail! I will definitely will do a more in depth video talking on those things! ❤️
With all these demands why not send sis a small donation for the information she’s giving 🥴
@@rickidenise You did a great job. If you went into detail on everything you covered this would be a full blown movie. You can't cover EVERYTHING in one video and make everyone happy. Thank you for this. It has helped me and I'm sure it has helped many others who appreciate it.

Since you asked, I've never heard anybody issue the disclaimer that being gay is outlawed in Gambia and many other countries (not all) in Africa. Gay people or parents with gay teenagers or children that they think might grow up to be gay, should be made aware of this before embarking on a permanent move or trip to these countries. It's especially outrageous considering some of the other things that are allowed.
You're absolutely gorgeous, by the way.
Thank you for this. I was planning a solo trip. Do you think I’ll be ok as long as I keep my business to myself?
@@kiiamarie3881 Yes, especially, if you're a woman.

Thanks for the information. Can you discuss living and moving to The Gambia. I’m thinking of moving their within the next couple of years.
I think Art Cathey needs to learn a lot from you well said no insult no arrogance no supremacist mentality yet everyone got your message intelligent young girl 😍
Every one see things differently,
I love sister Art views too.
Art Cathey is obnoxious ! She is an embarrassment to black Americans and so very disrespectful to the Gambian people and their culture. I cannot stand to hear her ignorance.
Andrew Clark Some African-American brothers and sisters expressed their disappointment in her attitude and anyone who didn’t see anything wrong with the way she insultingly pointed out the negatives aspects of Gambia is as small-minded as she is and has a white supremacist attitude as well. How do you call people brain dead simply because they don't do business as you do? How do you go to an African country and expect them to speak English as Americans do? Why don't you learn the language instead so the people see you as a sister or brother rather than insulting them? Ricki Denise seems a lot more mature and intelligent than Art Cathey.
How many kids are missing yearly in divided state???
😂 😂 😂 😂 Good Question!
Good information to know beforehand. I KNOW I'm going to make this trek upon retirement.
Hello !
Thank you for informing us in the diaspora. How is the internet connection? If I work online, which city would you recommend if I wanted to stay few months?
Hi Ricky, this is a good Practical video. If I was you, I would consider opening a small business by being an agent, for people who are coming for there first time. Work with a nice air condition driver to pick them up at airport to hotel. Accompany them to places all at a price. People will more trust you to take them around. Provide a package deal for two or three days until they are familiar with there way. I would pay for that. Lol. Bytheway if you do l will be expecting my commission for my idea. 😆
Awesome idea Ricky I'll be calling to take me around 😊
Yep
That’s a very good and lucrative idea, please consider it.
Hahah awesome! I’ll be taking that into consideration for sure! ❤️ thank youuu ☺️
That is a really good idea!! Great way for you to keep steady income☺️
That goes for any airport in the world not just in Gambia, if someone helped you they expect something in return.
You are right

I think you should run for office 🌍🇬🇲 and create legislation the will help and protect #MelaninGirls and any victims of Human Rights Violations ✝️❤️🙏🏾
The scamming thing aka price gouging which is all over West Africa is due to poverty.
That's doesn't happen in west Africa only, in turkey and Tunisia, many other countries
Price gouging is different from scamming so don't equate the two. Scamming is pure criminal behaviour, and that is different from bargaining or haggling on a product. The fact is Europeans and Americans don't know what bargaining is because prices of products are displayed for the buyer to see before they buy. The practice is different in traditional African markets. You don't expect farmers selling their produce on farms to stick prices on them. They tell how much they want to sell and you tell them how much you want to pay until you reach an equilubrium acceptable to both the seller and buyer
Thank you so much for sharing. Wise information
Thank you for your honesty much appreciated going Rising
Thank youuu😊

Hello, Rickeyta Thanks for sharing very informative
Thank you for the info advice it's great .
There is scamming everywhere but people don't just change the price for regular things, based on who you are. Not everywhere. This type of scamming is the result of poverty and the ability of visitors to pay higher prices. I'm sure that in a "negotiation" society they don't even see it as a scam. They're just trying to make a good deal.
No, it is scamming.
@Age of the Gemini Love Lol. When I said "THIS TYPE OF SCAMMING" I kind of said that it was scamming. Get with Loriann and you guys work this out okay.
Correct. Many online merchants already do this. With algorithms they can determine where you live and what you can afford, thus offer custom price.
SCAMMING
Those of us coming from the West ARE usually able to pay higher prices, and why shouldn`t we? Before I go there, I consult with an internet money exchange site to find out what my currency is worth in Dalasi. I make my little cheat-sheet so that I am clear on how much money they are asking in my own currency. This gives me perspective because when I exchange my currency into Dalasi, I get an inflated idea of how much money I have (much less in my own currency). So I consider what the product is worth - how much effort was put into it? How much creative energy? What was the actual cost to the producer? What would I pay for the same product in my own country? And then I come up with a price that I think is fair to the producer/seller and what it is worth to me, and often I find that what they are asking is very reasonable, and I will not try to talk them down because they deserve( often) at least what they are asking. Other times, they are indeed inflating the price for my white skin (tubab that I am), but do not assume that they always do that. I have found many to be very reasonable and I have no problem paying them their asking price. Then I can enjoy my prize guilt-free when I get home with it.
Thanks for keeping it real. Especially about the sexual tourism 🤢
The sex tourism is way over-exaggerated. It is just prostitution whereby adult african men and women provide sexual services for money. Only a tiny percentage of tourists are involved in it. Prostitution is far worst in the USA where not only do they hide but the US has the largest porn industry in the world.
mola3845 children aren’t prostitutes though. It is exploitation. And yes, it happens worldwide and needs to stop. It’s especially disgusting seeing colonizers with African children. And out in the open 😳
It was so disgusting to see while I was there. It was all over Gambia
sassysid100 😢
sassysid100 that’s not true. It’s exaggerated. It’s just I tiny part of Gambia. How dare you say “it was all over The Gambia” as if you traveled the whole country. Some of you re pothological liars. stop generalizing it.
You are lovely! Great channel, thank you!
