After 22 years of being involved with the LDS church, I know the missionaries answered every single question exactly correct and they were never challenged, nor were they ever told they were wrong.
      If you feel this was a negative interview, then maybe you have a problem with LDS theology. Maybe when you hear it so plainly, from naïve 19 year old boys just sharing their faith, you see how anti-biblical and anti-Christian the LDS faith really is - Heavenly Mothers, God being a man, saved by grace after you do your part, glories of heaven, exaltation to becoming a God, marriage in heaven, etc.

      So much of "religion" is contrary to the teachings of Christ.
      We long to take the speck from the mormon's eye, but we can't see past the plank in our own eye.
      That is because we all see Jesus "with rose-colored glasses" regardless of our religion.
      The deciples spent 3 1/2 yrs. with Jesus, and they remained nearly clueless as to what His purpose on earth was, until they were "baptized with the holy spirit" . After Christ's crucifixion, they were devastated. From their skewed, and biased understanding, they felt that the opportunity for the Messiah's kingdom to unfold, had been destroyed.
      Today, Christians look back and know that the deciples had "heard" the Word from the mouth of God, and yet remained blind to its meaning, until the Holy Spirit imparted divine understanding.
      Sadly, Christians of all denominations today, are blind to understand that they too exist within this spiritual irony.
      Truth does not depend upon religion; there is only one source of truth: Jesus Christ, the Word of God.
      Comprehension of the truth, does not come by way of religion. Comprehension is possible only through divine impartation by the Holy Spirit. It is pointless to read scripture without first prayerfully submitting to the Holy Spirit, and asking for divine guidance to lead our understanding. This is contrary to the will of man in general, thus, it happens only sporadically at best, regardless of what a pastor, holy man, priest, or religious organization may claim.
      True "religion" involves only the Seeker and the Lord. Our choices here on earth during this lifetime are of only two entities; God and ourselves.
      Placing our trust in the "wisdom of man" has been such a powerful tool exploited by satan, since the first sin in the garden. Jesus taught us that His people are destroyed by a lack of knowledge. Again, there is only one source of Truth in this world, and that is Jesus Christ. The only hope of pleasing God the Father is to submit to His perfect Will, and one can only hope for this result through the divine guidance of the Holy Spirit.
      I don't say this for the purpose of disuading anyone from attending the church of their choice. Rather, I simply share my own experience of honestly and completely submitting to the Holy Spirit, and the effect this has had on my understanding of scripture and the Will of God on my own life.
      In heaven, we will see souls from many worldly denominations who have been saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. The simple truth of the matter is that it is the blood of Jesus only, that saves, regardless of who we are, where we are, or how we are. My advice, if one were to ask for it, is for all to sincerely repent to God, in full acknowledgement of our imperfect and sinful nature, and to profess with our lips that Jesus is Lord, and to fully submit to His perfect Will, and to humbly ask the Holy Spirit to lead us in our spiritual growth and understanding. I try to do this every day of my life; not as a ritual, but in loving reverence of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Anybody is free to do this, regardless of what church they are in.

      Galatians 1: 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
      Let's break this down.
      _But though we_ ...We, meaning the apostles of Christ, including Paul.
      _Or an angel from heaven_ ...Or *EVEN IF* an angel from heaven.
      Angel=messenger
      Heaven=God
      So, even if a messenger from God
      So, even if it means Moroni, he *was* an angel from heaven, or a messenger from God. And God doesn't send angels with messages that are not from Him.
      _Preach any other gospel unto you_ ...If you read the second chapter of Galatians, you will see what the "other gospel" Paul was referring to and it has nothing to do with Moroni or the Book of Mormon, etc.
      And what is "Gospel"? It is the good news of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
      1 Cor. 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
      2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

To learn more, contact the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to speak with the missionaries. They will bring you a Book of Mormon so that you can find out for yourself that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored. The Book of Mormon truly is a testimony of Jesus Christ and has been brought forth by the power of God in these latter days.

      Jesus believes in the resurrection. He is talking to the Sadducees, who do NOT believe in the resurrection.
      The Sadducees ask Jesus which brother would the woman be married to in the resurrection?
      This tells me that they knew that Jesus DID believe in, not only the resurrection, but that marriage carried on into the resurrection.
      Jesus answered that they neither marry nor are given in marriage. In Biblical times, men would marry, women were given i marriage. So, His answer is, that no one is going to GET married in the resurrection. And since the Sadducees didn't believe in the resurrection, they would marry "till death do you part". The others would marry for time and eternity.
      And do not tell me my interpretation is wrong. It's no more wrong than yours is.

    • @sevrinvorndran351
      @sevrinvorndran351 Před 2 lety

      @@lindalds interpretation can be considered wrong if we can find evidence to back it up with the Bible.
      The question raised by the Sadducee's was meant to demonstrate the absurdity of a resurrection of the dead (Matthew 22:15-28). However, this challenge was based on completely wrong assumptions about the Scriptures and the power of God (Matthew 22:29). It's been said that we often learn the most important truths by asking "dumb" questions. In this case, at least, an off-target question opens the door for correction and learning.
      In short, Jesus says, there isn't any contradiction or complication, at all. Resurrected human beings will be like angels in one respect: Men will not marry, and women will not be given in marriage. Marriage, the pairing of couples for life, will cease to exist there. As eternal beings, angels do not apparently reproduce, making marriage unnecessary. Humans will apparently exist in that non-married, non-reproducing status, as well. Jesus' answer also corrects the Sadducee's' wrong idea that angels do not exist.
      This gives a firm, if unexpected answer to the Sadducee's: the wife married to seven consecutive brothers on earth will not be wife to any of them in heaven. He will not stop there, however. Christ will continue to show how the Sadducee's' own preferred Scriptures make a clear case for life after death (Matthew 22:31-32).
      It's important to note what Jesus does not say here, as it's often taken out of context and misquoted. Jesus does not say humans will become angels after death. Angels and humans are entirely different kinds of beings. Jesus only says people will be "like" angels, and only in this one way: not being married. Otherwise, people and angels will remain unique and distinct creations of God.

    • @MrNirom1
      @MrNirom1 Před 2 měsíci

      If one is not married and sealed to their spouse BEFORE the Resurrection... then it is obvious that what is stated is correct. During or after the Resurrection... there is no additional work for the dead. The time for doing such things has passed. But that is why there is a 1000 years upon this earth before the resurrection happens. For it will not happen until after the 1000 years and after Satan is loosed upon the earth again for a short period of time. All that is needed is the time between the 2nd coming and the end of the 1000 years. I am surprised you don't know this for yourselves. So temple work will continue throughout the millennium to insure that all that want these ordinances done.... they will get done. Smile!!!

    • @MrNirom1
      @MrNirom1 Před 25 dny

      Matthew 22:30 is true when you read what is actually written. The first 4 words tell you everything you need to know. FOR IN THE RESURRECTION. If you have not been sealed to your spouse or your family BEFORE the resurrection... it is too late... and you will be an angel of God because you did not want the bindings of a spouse or family. This had to be done before the resurrection happens because "For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage". So that scripture the way it is written is very true.

    I was forced to be Mormon by my parents, who still practice. It is so sad the amount of pressure to be perfect put on them by "the church" and it's members. In fact, that pressure is so great that anything horrible that happens to or surrounding member's is ignored and swept under the rug, never to be spoken about again in attempt to be seen as the perfect family. In my family these secrets included depression, anger outburst of men against women, the men treating the women as slaves and sexual abuse by other members of the church and our cousins. When you leave the church your family reminds you every time they see you that you will never make it into heaven and that you are less of a person then they. Families stay together forever and love eachother, unless a member of the family does something the church doesn't agree with. It is a sick form of manipulation. I still love my family and support them any way I can, but I believe they have been deceived and hope they will wake up one day and focus on loving each other rather than appearing perfect. They call Themselves Latter day SAINT'S, but reject their own and condemn them to hell if they don't fit the mold. Mormon's also refuse to respect the separation of church and state and lobby huge amounts of money to beurocrat's and politicians to get their way with laws in Utah and other states. Don't get me wrong, there are amazing people who are Mormon. But there are many that use it as a brain washed manipulation. And the secrets of the church itself are MANY.

And when Paul left and traveled elsewhere other Jews came by and told the Galatians that they needed to be circumcised. So when Paul got back and found out they did it... he was mad. When I was 11.. I asked my Bishop a hypothetical question. I asked, If God the Heavenly Father chose ME to be the next Prophet here on Earth, would the LDS Church ALLOW it? He answered NO.
    I asked Why Not?
    He told me that I needed to be an elder member and the longest surviving member of the group of Apostles and when the vacancy for Prophet presented itself, then I would be CHOSEN to be Prophet. Who Chooses I asked - He replied God chooses. I knew then that you had to be part of the higher team within the LDS Church, live long enough and then AND ONLY THEN, would I ever be Prophet.... I was 11... and in my heart I resigned from the LDS Church and told the Bishop, I didn't believe in the LDS Church or its Prophets... I physically left three years later.
    Forty years on and afterI having studied Christianity and the Cults (particularly Mormonism) throughout that time, let me say that if it is important to you.. you'll do your own work and study to discover who Jesus Christ actually is: God among us; His Work; that he delivered His Gospel once, for all - everyone; that we might be saved, he suffered on the Cross and died for our sins so that we don't have to; was raised and lives again.. Mormonism never was, never can be, and never will be Christianity or Christian....
    In mormonism, Christ's work is insufficient, this is why they have built Temples which require you to do your own works and to gain access, you must be a Temple worthy Mormon: pay a full and honest tithe of 10 gross, live by temperance laws concerning coffee, tea and alcohol, pay additional monies on fast and testimony sundays, undertake ordinances and get sealed to your wife and other women throughout your life to ensure you can become a God one day, undertake baptisms for the dead as their surrogate etc. And there is so much more to do..It's all up to you and if you fall short - Jesus may pick up the difference and you may get God's grace . None of this is Christian.
    In Christianity there is nothing anyone can do to earn God's free gift of a saving grace, because if you have to earn or buy it and you can't, it isn't free and it isn't grace. In Mormonism they tell you, you might earn your 'free' gift of a saving grace AFTER ALL YOU CAN DO. When do you know you have done all you can do? Could you have done more yesterday, today? Tomorrow might be too late and then you will have died guilty of all God's Laws. Being a good person, while desirable, does not save you - believing on Christ saves you.
    Do you repent or continue to repent? If so, you are still dead in your sins and according to Mormonism, you MUST overcome ALL sin. To fall fowl of one law is to be guilty of it all. This is not the Good News - The Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is only by believing in Christ and having faith on Him that you will be saved. If it's important to you - you'll do something about it. Christ isn't looking for perfection whereas you may have been told otherwise. Fall away from the yoke and seek rest in your LORD. Pray as a sinner and ask Jesus Christ to forgive you and come into your life and then be patient - wait for God to work on you in his own time, in His own way. After all, it is His choice and your beginning.
    Mormonism is polytheistic whereas Christianity is monotheistic.... that is faith defining and separates the two camps forever.

    Mormons and Muslims have the same problem: their entire faith is dependent on whether or not one man is a liar or not. For the Muslims, it is Muhammed. For the Mormons, it is Joseph Smith. Both men claim, while alone and with no witnesses of anything they later claim, they were visited by an angel of God (Muhammed actually thought it was the devil initially). Then, their "holy" books were written by these two men (Muhammed and Smith). So their holy encounters were without witnesses, they performed no miracles, they themselves wrote their "holy" books, and their "holy" books, amazingly, call them the greatest prophets of God. Many do not realize how Christianity is very different. Jesus did not write the NT: eyewitnesses to his teachings, miracles, death, and resurrection wrote the firsthand accounts of the NT. So the Bible is an account of Jesus claims about himself, coupled with tons of factual evidence by eyewitnesses to His glory. The Quran and Book of Mormon has none of this. Imagine how suspect Christianity would be if all we had was a book written by Jesus full of claims by Jesus about how great Jesus is, but with no evidence of confirmation from other witnesses?

So a witness from heavenly messenger! Then 8 others where the plates by Smith and allowed to handle, examine and told to always bare witness that there were indeed golden plates and they knew that they contained the word of God! Never did these witnesses recount their testimonies! New times require new ways to deal with life’s challenges! I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I grew up a member. I served a mission in Japan when I was 19. I’m 43 now, married with 4 kids. I believe God the Father and his son Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith in answer to his humble prayer.
    I’ve read, pondered and prayed about the Bible and Book of Mormon several times in my life and recently continue to read and pray daily. There have been times in my life that I didn’t pray and read the scriptures as much. During those times I didn’t feel the comfort and direction of the Holy Ghost as much or as often as the times I did read and pray. We all have bad days or even bad years in our lives. These missionaries are obviously having a bad day. I can’t imagine what it would have been like to be videoed, then publicly humiliated with an edited video afterwards.
    I have Baptist friends, Catholic friends and Jehovah Witness friends. All people I respect. I don’t see how anyone can feel good about publicly mocking another church, or someone who is doing their best to follow Jesus Christ. I think what you have done to these two missionaries is horrible.
    If you are sincerely trying to make the word a better place by straitening someone out, why don’t you take a more effective approach?
    Tell us how your life is better from following the teachings of Jesus Christ and leave out belittling others’ interpretations of our Savior’s teachings.
    Do all the members of the Catholic Church interpret the Master’s teaching correctly? Do all the members of the Baptist church interpret the Master’s teaching’s correctly? What about the Jehovah’s Witness and the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints? Do all of them do a perfect job of explaining the Gospel of Jesus Christ? I think not. We all fall short and need God’s grace.
    Missionaries leave their family and friends for two years to teach and lift those who are in need and are interested. I don’t think the interviewer fit that criteria.

      Works are pure garbage when it comes to salvation. Works are required by many of the cults today to keep everyone in line through the BITE model which helps control the sheeple that fall inline to the will of the organization.
      So to answer you question, we don't need works however, if someone DID have "true and sincere" faith in Jesus, then most likely they will follow those aspects on their own anyway more out of LOVE than out of DUTY. If you love your wife, kids, parents you would feel sorry for doing wrong and follow what they asked of you out of LOVE but not based on DUTY or REQUIREMENT because you HAD to.

Therefore the old "excuse" is no longer relevant and can't be used to contradict the Bible with the Book of Mormon.
      When we visit websites like BibleHub.com we have the Interlinear option and the multiple definitions of the Greek/Hebrew words along with other parts of the Bible these words are used that we can compare. It does take some extra work and a bit of study, but the Bible does require that we "study to show thyself approved".
      The problem with the old Mormon article of faith is that was a brilliant way for the original leaders to justify the cognitive dissonance however that no longer applies which is why many are waking up to the truth especially with the publication of the CES Letter which has been fully expanded.

    I was raised as a Mormon. I even have a Mormon name. My parents use to push me so hard, telling me that the world is corrupt. That Mormonism was the only “true” religion. It broke their hearts when I decided that becoming a missionary was not for me. It’s been seven years now and my life has changed. I think it’s crazy how different my relationship with god is, after reading the Bible. I feel like in my youth I searched for him but never truly found him. I’m a Christian now, thanks to my wife who was brought up that way. She learned the gospel and thanks to her I found god. It saddens a me to see my father and his family trying to find god when they are learning more about the angel Moroni and reading from a book that was created by Joseph Smith. When they talk about Jospeh Smith they glorify him so much. They don’t talk about why people hated him so much. They twist it and make it about religion when it was about a guy who screwed people out of their money, and killed many people’s with the little battles in Illinois. Somewhere in the mid west. My dad to this day tells me “ the power of the priest hood has been given to us, use it. You have more authority then a pastor or a priest. You can heal people perform baptisms.” It’s sad that in reality we have no authority unless it’s been given to us by god. We don’t heal, god heals through us. I’m at a loss for words, the stress of religion has nothing to do with god, for he didn’t create religion he created a relationship with our Heavenly Father. No matter how hard you try to be perfect, or how often you go to the temple or read the Book of Mormon or do good works, you still won’t be saved by god..... faith and grace alone. Ask your self this Mormon why does the temple have the angel Moroni on top ? Why not Jesus? Moroni didn’t die for your sins. Why can’t everyone go into the temple ? Why do you have to be invited through the bishop ? Why do you pride your self on rituals wearing garments saying prayers exactly the same In order for them to count? We will never be God’s or anything close to god hood. I just pray my family opens their eyes like I did. It’s hard it took me so long to just finally take it in. It was so uncomfortable for me in the beginning, but now I have opened my eyes. It took years but I’m glad I’m at where I am now with the lord.

There are so many things in the Bible that contradict what Joseph smith taught. We have yet to find any artifacts of he nephites and laminates. 1 million people died ! Where are the bodies?? Is joesph was so pure why did he believe in polygamy and marry young women? Why were black not allowed to have the priesthood. Why isn’t Jesus on top of the temple? Why is everything so secretive? Why aren’t normal people allowed to visit the temple? Where does it say to practice baptisms for the dead? Isn’t it our duty to seek god while we are alive? Or to be sealed with your wife and children in the Bible? Where does it say you can be a god in the Bible ? If you can answer those questions for me and point them out, i will run back to my ward and beg for forgiveness. If Jesus never tuned his back on people who seeked him, why would your congregation do the opposite? I’m not fighting or being aggressive with anyone.
      Deuteronomy 4:35,39 - Unto thee it was shown, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him. (39) Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.

      John Lee I was brainwashed like all the Mormons . I was born into it. I never questioned my faith until I started reading the Bible. I won’t ever go back to Mormonism. I really thought Mormons were different, until I witnessed them drinking, and having sex with other members, doing drugs like weed. Brothers coming up to my step mom and making comments about how sexy she is. I learned from going to many different wards and hoping to find “good people” that this was all bull crap. I planned on marrying with in the church and the girls were way worse then the girls at my college! Then i prayed and started reading the Bible. Asking for god to intervene in my life. I got away from all those people , started my life with my wife and she brought me even closer to god. I rather be honest with my self an accept that people aren’t perfect, that man is corrupt. That the Mormons I have been exposed to don’t, actually have Discernment. I’ll pray for you John that god will speak to you like he did with me. That you seek him and Jesus and not a false prophet. Well, that's odd. I don't see your latest question on this thread but received in my email. But I'll go ahead and answer it here. 1 Timothy 3 refers to deacons or Elders, or people of position in the church. You stated, regarding 1Timothy 3, "....refer to Elders as "the husband of one wife", and that "his family is in good order." Then you asked if I know any LDS missionaries who fit this description. Absolutely. Keep in mind, it doesn't say that an Elder must be married. Most LDS families I know are in great order. Just like those in many other faiths. The LDS families seem to be even more close knit and in good order than many others. After all, families are forever, why not try especially hard to rely on one another? Secondly, there are also thousands of married men and women who dedicate themselves as couple missionaries. Not uncommon for LDS seniors to fill this role together when all of the kids have moved out of the nest and starting families of their own.

    The last minute is the most revealing. What separates the Mormon gospel from the Gospel of Jesus is Ephesians 2:8,9 - "NOT OF WORKS, so that no man can boast." What makes LDS (Mormonism) a cult/sect is that (in their mindset), nothing is legitimate unless it goes through their "church". Baptism in another denomination is not acceptable. Ordination is another denomination doesn't count. Recognition elsewhere carries no weight with them. Only their own authority structure is legitimate to them, thus de-legitimizing God's authority in His Church everywhere else.

      Genesis
      22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

    The interviewer of these to young missionaries has a condescending demeanor. You must think you're a big man mocking two 19-year old teenagers, who were sent out to share a message. Yes, the LDS Church sent out these 19-year old's to share a message; this is why they are called missionaries. You have obviously rejected their message.

    Mormonism fits the BITE model of a cult, as described by cult expert and author Steve Hassan, to a T! It's like, I don't want say it's a cult, but..... I feel really sorry for them, they are so often truly kind and nice people, I just feel like they are under such bondage, and from the stories I've heard from so many who have left, it seems like it's a constant feeling of never measuring up, never being good enough, no matter how many callings they served, no matter how hard they tried, they were just on this big hamster wheel, always running, always doing the next thing to try to be better. Mormonism teaches you don't get the atonement, the grace of Jesus until after ALL THAT YOU CAN DO, and who knows what that is? It's so ambiguous, it leaves you in constant doubt, a constant state of worry. Most LDS I've talked to have no idea where they'll go when they die, what level of glory. That is just really sad to me. Jesus died to set us free from the law, his yoke is easy, his burden light. Their doctrine is so backwards to me, and it breaks my heart, because I think a lot of them would make really amazing Christians!

      lindalds lol spoken like a true deluded BITE model representative. Nice.
      I teach the BITE model in my class. While Jehovah's Witnesses use it more aggressively, LDS is more intelligent in their deception to use it as well.
      Maybe you should take my class. I have only had one Mormon take it so far. Jehovah's Witnesses don't bother with college so no chance to get them in my class.

      lindalds we are located in Rochester, NY I'll even ask the college administration if you can get in for free although you will still need to get a student ID card as no one is allowed to walk around the campus without one (school shootings, rape, etc). I'm sure I can provide them with a confidence that you would be OK, I don't think an old woman in her 60's would be much of a threat to anyone on campus.
      Unfortunately, I've already done the bulk of the Mormon/JW teaching earlier in the semester we are now covering Mary Baker Eddy the Founder of Christian Science. We have a whole book just dedicated to that idea "The Science of Mind" by Ernest Holmes. You want to learn about a really messed up cult, check out this woman and their church. Many atheists convert to religions like this because science makes more sense than faith. I spend a short time on L. Ron Hubbard (Scientology) as a derivative of her mostly because it's not as strong an influence except in Hollywood.
      After her, I follow up with Francis David (Unitarianism), Bishop Monroe R. Saunders, Sr. (United Church of Jesus Christ) and David Berg (Children of God/Family International).
      You'll notice that Bishop Monroe R. Saunders also included the name "Jesus Christ" in the title of his church so it always seems hilarious to me when Mormons claim that their church uses that name like it really means anything.
      I can open an ice cream shop called "The Ice Cream Shoppe of Jesus Christ for Sweet Tasters" and not sure if that has any real significance other than I can name something anything I want.
      If I am asked back to both colleges this fall, we start right off into the big ones (Mormonism, JW) which would be the first 4-weeks of September. Book your flight now, it will be cheaper.

      Thanks, George, but, much as I would love to attend your class, I do live in Ohio and it would be a hardship to come to New York for classes. Although living so close to Palmyra would not be a bad thing!
      I just can't figure out which college it is, as I don't see your name on any faculty list on any of the colleges listed in the Rochester area. The only George Bauerschmidt I've found is a total computer "geek" who doesn't sound like he teaches anything re: religion, Christianity, etc.

    They need to throw away that book of Mormon and pick up a bible and live by the word period. Jesus said trust no one and if anyone preaches a different gospel then he is a false prophet. Jesus was the last prophet. I pray that God removes the veil over their eyes and lets them see the real truth.

    • @lindalds

      The real truth? Is that your truth, or my truth?
      Have you ever read the Book of Mormon? Only if you have read it cover to cover can you make any sort of judgment on it.

      Just know that the Christian Holy Bible proclaims Jesus as God - coeternal and coequal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. None are created and yet created everything. Where the lds church says that Jesus is created being and not God and brothers with satan. This is blasphemy and idolatry according to the Christian faith. The lds Bible was altered in the verses that talk about Jesus's deity and are different from the original 2000yrs old manuscripts. The lds belive a different gospel then the original disciples and apostles taught and died for. Just so you know because I want you to be saved and to not be deceived. God bless
