So I have the IG LP Custom, ES335, as well as the ‘59 LP with Burstbuckers. I also just picked up the new IGC ‘59 LP and the Ebony 355. I love both lineups. The is real value with everything you get with the IGC guitars. But at the same time, you can’t go wrong with with either series. I love that Gibson is expanding Epiphone into a more premium brand that also still makes the entry level instruments.

Best video to date! Loved the clarifying of not only the IBG vs IGC differences, but with sound/playing demos of each of the models,! Awesome!! Love the proactive reminder of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for the modders who'd rather buy cheap and upgrade themselves. Love that now there are options for those of us who just want buy and play on day one. I became a Gibson snob about 5 years ago and sold all my Epiphones for fewer but higher end Gibson Custom Shop models. But I tell you what... I will definitely be picking up 1 or 2 of these IGCs for sure!! Even at $1500, It's a no brainer given that Gibson Custombucker pickups cost (pretax) $500+ just by themselves, plus another $50 to $150 give or take for a hard shell case. Sold!! Good call Gibson to go "all in" on Epiphone! I love that business decision, especially since there are still lower cost models available for those who want a less expensive guitar.

The one gripe I currently have with Epiphones is the cut of the nut. I bought an Epiphone Crestwood 150th recently, but the nut had a harsh right angle on it so it cut my hand whilst playing at the first fret. Given modern CNC technology, surely this is just a flick of a switch so that all nuts are now rounded over? I think the specs are amazing on these guitars, but they should ALSO be comfortable to play. (I know I could have just taken a file to the nut, but I’m a player, not a modder/tinkerer, and for the money I shouldn’t have to mod a guitar).

Epiphone have already released about 7 years ago the "Epiphone Les Paul Custom Inspired By 1955 Limited Edition Outfit" in Ebony.
Mahogany body and top, 1950's Rounded C neck, Ebony fingerboard with Pearloid block inlays, Gibson P90 Soapbar pickups, Gold hardware and vintage case. Mine's at home with me as I write. Truly magnificent sound and looks.

@@ianmacauley4996 Thanks, I knew that, even owned one for about a year. 1. Wasn't Gibson STAPLE pickup (was Epi Soapbar). 2. Wasn't Switchcraft pots/components. 3. Wasn't new Gibson open book headstock, etc., etc. I wasn't crazy about the dull finish either. For the price, the case was nice though. I loved the pink interior. I'd love an enhanced version with the upgraded components and Gibson STAPLE pickup.

I have a Gibson LP and a Es 335…. I can’t see myself spending 15k on a Gibson Custom Es355 and the LP custom from Gibson. But I can see myself ordering this 355 and that custom for $2,600… with my setup skills I can make those baby’s play great. And I love those new headstocks!!!!!!! Great move guys!!! Awesome!!!!!!
And yes. The Gibson 355 custom is $8,500. And the LP custom is about $6,000….. I love Gibson… always have. But I’m really digging this epiphone revamp…. Enough for me to be able to own quality iconic replicas of my favorite models at a great price point. Some may say they are still too expensive.. but those pups are 600 dollars from Gibson alone. And ebony boards and MOP inlays and that headstock with cts pots and Mallory caps???? Guys… this is an absolute value… probably the best they’ve had to offer

I’m pretty impressed with what Epiphone is doing. However, I’m still seeing the dreaded high frets from the 12th up which is an expensive repair whether you have it done or invest in the tools and time to do it yourself. I haven’t seen the hump at the neck/body joint on the ES models yet but my experience is that it’s a matter of time. Please tell me these issues are being addressed. They are unacceptable at the new price points imho.

It blew my mind to hear him say that mini humbuckers come on the Firebird. You would think that somebody at Gibson would have told him that they are actually humbuckers, not mini humbuckers. They are totally different from the mini humbuckers on the Les Paul Deluxe. Firebird pickups are entirely unique. Their sound is as different as night and day from a regular Gibson mini humbucker. I think that he should have clarified this because it is important.

I'd say things for things like a nut, bridge, and tail piece those can get worn out and rusted over time. They're pretty vital to a guitar so understanding the materials and replacing them with fresher materials should be encouraged.

fails to mention these come off the same "line" as the mass produced Epiphones in the same factory. the same workers....oh..err... "luthiers"... are putting these together. 75% same parts as the basic line (i.e. bodies, woods). the "ebony" is also a cheap species esp used for Epiphone. Gibsons use a different less porous type. Is it "ebony"? Technically yes, but lower grade.
