Picked up one of the Dykstra cards. As a Phillies fan that is arguably the best $1.69 I’ve spent in the hobby!

I like the hitting pose Holliday personally and it's a different # than the Fun Face so possibly a SSP and the Fun Face is a SP ?

I opened a case. Not disappointed. Of course, i sell most everything! I didn't hit a Jackson SP but did get a Chourio SP. I also got a Daddy Yankee Auto/99 from First Pitch and like you guys, had no idea who he was. My favorite card was a Red /10 Mickey Mantele from the 1989 Topps Baseball insert set!
That sounds like a really fun case! Congrats on the hits, prob smart to sell most right away like you’re doing. Did you preorder? If so, were preorder prices better than prices at release?
@@Blabbin_Bout_Slabbin I have an account with a distributor. I used to get as much of almost anything i wanted but nowadays it's a case here and there. I got this case (hobby) for about $150 less than what you can get it for on the Topps website. It is a ton of work but 2+ days in and I am already in the black, so no complaints from me. It's really hard to lose money with Topps Flagship unless you simply are looking for big hits to flip and tossing the rest in the trash.
I need to know if he was Pappa Padre prior to this year. I want to see if Jeff ever gets worked up about anything.
Haha! A non-exhaustive list of things that get me worked up:
1) Drivers who don't use their turn signals
2) When my kids don't brush their teeth after being asked 10 times
3) Watching the Bucks squander yet another Giannis post-season run
4) Hearing about politics
5) Littering
6) People who are unkind to animals
7) Losing at pickleball
8) People who don't follow-through on what they say they're going to do
This is a different thing but kind of same, Im like 90% sure I saw a debut patch on Jackson holiday. I wonder When topps is gonna drop that bomb?
Yep! Probably in Topps Chrome Update this year.
The Holliday Fun Face card gives me a "jumped the shark" type feeling. What Billy did was organic, and this is the complete opposite.
I get that view. It is certainly not organic, but I do like the nostalgia factor. Maybe it's just an example of the bar being so low, that even something like this brings me a spark of hope 🤣
Speaking of quality control have you seen the wemby spellbound card? They actually misspelled donruss. They have it as donurss! Lol

The rookie SP's are...well...not short printed. If you look at gold listings of the top rookies and then look at the listings for the SP's, there's at least double the number available of the rookie SP's. Makes me think there's 5,000+ of them, severely decreasing their value.

I recently pulled a stained glass mini of Shane Baz. Is right now a good time to sell or should I wait till he gets called up? I'd appreciate any feedback. I am the worst at timing when to sell certain players.
Also what do you think the value would be? Absolutely love the videos. My favorite duo on CZcams hands down!!!!
Thanks for the support, Hugh! Can’t say I’m much help on the value, but I do know that Baz is looking great in his rehab. I think to maximize value, you would be best off selling right when he gets the call to come back up. Even if he is successful in his first few big league starts, cards tend to decrease in value.

Hot take here. The 89 fleer Billy Ripken card is over rated. Yeah, I said it.
That IS a hot take! I think for so many of us who were kids in the hobby at the time it meant a lot: a screw-up by a big company!, a forbidden word!, a chance to look for obscure corrections they tried to make, etc.
But I get it, it's not going to excite everybody. That's what makes the hobby great! Thanks for watching and commenting.
You said you weren't going to open any topps series 2. Ready for some odds madness? (As explained to me). If you open none, you have a zero % chance of finding the card you're hoping for. But if you open just one product (any format), your odds increase enormously. However, you should stop right there, because after that, 'first opening' your odds of finding that card barely improve no matter how much you open.
Okay, I may just open a blaster! Wish me luck! 🤣
I feel like the people that fanatics has running topps are just getting more and more out of touch with collectors. They need more actual collectors, not flippers and gamblers, involved in the decision making at topps.
Agreed. And it would be so easy to do! They could solicit and get substantial collector input for NOTHING!

@USCfan03 I would cut out the less desirable sets, limit useless parallels, and cut production runs of most releases, not flagship, but most others. I don't like sticker auto's but if the alternative is redemptions I will take the sticker auto's. If your doing sticker autos create a specific window on the card for them, like what upper deck used to do, it looks better if you incorporate it into the design instead of just slapping it on the card. Sp's and ssp's should Always include interesting photography of the player. Having the printing company actually pay attention to centering, I mean we put people on the moon for God sake but we can't center a piece of cardboard properly. These are just some of the things off the topps of my head.
@@mangobango6970 I like a lot of these suggestions. I would add that if they put more effort into choosing images, it would go a long way. Look how many amazing shots are used in Stadium Club! For example, have a cohesive theme with image variations like they used to do. That would excite collectors for sure.
@Blabbin_Bout_Slabbin I would also like to see a very limited collectors only product that they only sell in hobby shops and not breakers or retail. Something similar to topps tiffany of the past but just in pack form instead of a set.
Topps version of POP CENTURY...more gimmicks...just creating more garbage to chase..different sport players, actors , influencers , now musicians...they will put anybody on a baseball card to get the SHEEP to follow...just gettin more pathetic..
They are definitely trying to reach a broader audience, which I don’t exactly mind. But I DO mind them alienating/forgetting about their long-term customers. They need to take care of the traditional consumer (quality control, on card autos, good consistent parallels, star players IN the product, etc.)
