    Remember when my relative bought a nearly new 3095 datatronic, it was the big modern tractor of the day and it felt enormous!! 3rd and 4th back to front took some getting used to!!
    Loved the sound of the Perkins 6 cyl

    YIKESSSS ..... 😮 I have never seen that happen on a starter motor before, I wonder what on earth caused that !?!?, thank you for the video Dan. 🙂👍

    When 1 job turns to a dozen 😆🤦‍♂. Kinda impressive that the ring gear didn’t chip any teeth or the fact the broken bit didn’t jam everything up!

    Turned out good, best wishes when you attack the electrical issues.

    I put a new starter on my 3070 about 5 years ago, , but I still get the odd click. The revised wiring at the front end has got me thinking though. Very interesting as usual.

    99% of all 3000 series electrical problems can all be traced back to where the the earth cable from the Battery is connected to the chassis at the from and corrosion of the positive terminals preventing full current.
    Not helped by usually having 2 batteries to deal with!
    The red and yellow wires attached to the positive are very important to make the hydraulics and PTO work properly.

      I repositioned the earth cable to the clutch housing last year to avoid that problem.

    The gods were indeed on your side when that solenoid wouldn't come off that could have been a real disaster 🙄😐 good video 👍

  • @williamharris4426
    @williamharris4426 Před měsícem +1

    Could have been a disaster, if that bit of casting got between the ring gear and bell housing.

  • @robertallen3441
    @robertallen3441 Před měsícem +1

    The bellhousing will be full of metallic dust from the broken starter motor housing and from the clutch plate. I think I would have cleaned it out properly before fitting the new starter. As you probably know the small yellow and red wires at the battery pos terminal supply power to the etcu behind the RH cab step. Most electronic problems on 3000 series are caused by poor wiring giving low voltage readings. Alternator also needs to be producing 13v at least to power ELC (rear linkage). Always test electrics with a headlight bulb and two wires, a multimeter is not good enough.

    Great video Dan. Why do manufacturers put a drain for the engine block behind the starter must be a better place.

    • @CowfarmerDan
      @CowfarmerDan  Před měsícem +1

      There's a drain on each side of the block, I just wanted to flush that one while I had access.

    Was that a David Brown parked up by your Massey, would that be one of yours? By the time you finish the Massey that’ll be one nice tractor.

    What’s the story with the Davy Brown in the hedge?

    Very nice job on the terminals
    On the subject of swapping batteries between classics that don't do much, are there any decent quick attach terminals?

    • @CowfarmerDan
      @CowfarmerDan  Před měsícem

      Not sure, I've never considered fitting them!

    • @multipower617
      @multipower617 Před měsícem

      @@CowfarmerDan I've got a habbit of putting on a battery just to move something quickly and not tightening the terminals and it ends up staying that way ,but inivetibly you go on a tractor run and it wont start
