I have looked at so many sawhorses on YT over the last couple months. Some are good, some are just okay. Then I stumbled onto this video and was so glad I did. Simple design, simple to build, ver practical and small price for the plans. Thank you so much for posting this DIY build.

Made two, and I love them. I used them to unload plywood right from back of truck onto shopdogs with a grid, and foam insulation board to cut down my plywood. Then used them to make a low entertainment center. Made the whole project go so much easier. Thanks woodshopdude. You are great. Thanks for sharing you great design.

This is a great idea. Using straps is very clever. I've used straps for many unusual things over the years and they perform much better than people expect. One tip would be to put a Fastex clip in the strap. They are crazy strong and make setup and tear down 100x easier.

    Hi Grant ...
I had heard about your sawhorse design from another website that had the class to acknowledge you as the originator of this system. I found them to be as clever as it gets ... They will meet my needs perfectly. I plan on a pair of 2"x4"x4' with 3 sets of notches for 3 more 2"x4"x8' as a sacraficial grid for breaking down full size sheet products. I've done this before on some very sturdy sawhorses I had built that were fantastic ... (other than it took a squad of Marines to move them). Your shopdogs will be perfect for what I need and I'll be able to set it up all by my 70 yr. old self.
Thanks so much for the great design. Cheers, Dave

I just bought a set of plans. Instant download and just excellent detail. I am looking forward to this project . I have bought other plans online, no question, these are the best by far. Actual size templates and great explanation of the compound cuts. A real bargain at 5.00.
First set I printed using the 2 sided option but this puts the 2 templates on the same sheet of paper so I printed a second set.
On my colour laser printer, these are amazing, super high quality. Thank you very much.

We have a pair of these beauties and they get used more than anything in our garage. I love to do painting projects with old pieces of furniture. It makes a paint job so much easier. We have also used these for making tables when having a garage sale or when family comes over to eat. My children even know how to set them up- it is really that easy. My favorite part is how flat they fold up making it easy to store. Love Love these! PERFECT christmas gift!

I'm 78 years old and believe this is the best sawhorse design I ever saw. Economical, simple to assemble and works like a dream! I would have saved mucho dollars and many hours if I had found these shopdogs 68 years ago!! For security, I suggest a bright coat of scarlet red paint, plus stencil on your name and phone number in black. We maybe can't stop thieves, but we can force those bums to make use of our shopdogs in secrecy! My design suggestions? None. My building suggestions? Advise your customers to buy only Douglas Fir from a lumber yard. Suggest they pay a few bucks extra, then handpick only "near perfect" 12 foot long pieces. My local home centers stock only inexpensive (??) pine that is warped, split, twisted, bent, curved, knotted, wet, and otherwise damaged 2 x 4's in any length.

Great product and it got me thinking maybe the pad the v and the slot can all be made to work on one top centre support on one side alternate from v to slot at 3.5 to 4" spacing and on the other side router out a small slot and introduce a piece of high density foam standing about 1/8" proud of the surface this will protect and tidy work and if you are just putting a work board across then it might help level up on uneven floor surfaces (um bit of a leap that last bit).

I work at a lumber store. Our home made sawhorses routinely support entire units of lumber and associated abuse from forklifts.
They wobble and wiggle and do not take advantage of any angularity making the units stronger as the load increases.

    Hi,
I managed to finish a couple of your sawhorses a while ago now and have done an adaptation to allow the use of a sliding chop saw. I have also done an attempt at a support frame for aiding in working with and cutting sheet material like plywood and 'Norbord'.
I will admit that the framework for the sheet material could probably be improved upon. However, I only really need it until I have managed to finish of cutting the sheet material for finishing of the inside of my new shed after it being insulated.

I also had some 1/4-20 3" extra carriage bolts and some tightening knobs to make the out rigger support pretty rock solid, I mad the out of scrap 3/4 birch.
Another hack I did was to run a 3 inch drywall screw into the bighting part of the legs so they just barely bight into the top cross piece about a 1/4". For a strap I just use 1/8" paracord w/ a cinch loop.
