I’ve been buying records for about 35 years and it seems that in the last 5 or so there’s been an increasing trend of orienting outer sleeves with the opening at the top. If I look at where my outer sleeves get the dirtiest it’s predictably, at the top. Often very discoloured with dust and grime. I would be heartbroken if all my beautiful jackets had that grime on them and not on a bag that can be replaced.
This is true for shops too. SOO many oily fingers. So much damage. I give it a half generation and it’ll come back to what makes more sense.
Open to side. Inner sleeve oriented up. Inside or outside jacket. No falling out. Sufficient dust maze. No damage to jacket.

I put the record in the inner sleeve, then into the original side slot, facing up. The inner sleeve opening is oriented to the top of the jacket. I almost always find records in the stores with the inner sleeve opening to the side. If I have a outer sleeve, I put that in so the opening is to the top, as you suggest.

Cool. I was wondering how was the correct and best way to align the sleeves to protect the disc, because they come to me in a completly random way depending on the label or the previous user.
