1. Connect with people
He sang in a local church choir from the age of four and learned guitar at a very young age.
2. Just be you
In addition to Damien Rice, he cited The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Nizlopi, Eminem as his biggest musical influences.
3. The more you do, the better you get
He began music recording in 2005, and released his first independent EP, The Orange Room EP.
4. Be a likeable person
He played open mic nights all over LA, before he was spotted at The Foxxhole by Jamie Foxx.
5. Everything has a silver lining
Jamie Foxx was so impressed that he offered Sheeran the use of his recording studio and a bed.
6. Start off as early as possible
Throughout 2010, he was seen by more people over the internet through CZcams and his fan-base grew.
7. Learn from others
With the release of his independent EP, No. 5 Collaborations Project in 2011, he gained mainstream attention.
8. Commit to one thing
His debut single, "The A Team", entered the UK Singles Chart at #3, selling over 58,000 copies in the first week.
9. Practice
He made a guest appearance on Taylor Swift's 4 studio album, Red, and wrote songs for One Direction.
10. Do something different
As part of his x world tour, Sheeran played 3 sold out concerts at London's Wembley Stadium.

Correct his one of my fav..acoustic singer composer..
If you like him check out Jason Mraz old stuff from Java Joe's fellow artist with similar style. Not dissing on Sheeran though I really appreciate him singing his recording I'm great at riffs but lack a voice inflection from copying artist's. I can make my own songs but am sure they sound like shit water at the moment.
Ed Sheeran one of the most down to earth people ever. He is so real non pretentious like other musicians who act all perfect, and never make mistakes. Love the part were he shared his song where he couldn't sing properly, look at him now one of the bests artists out there. A couple people brought me down about my music told me I wouldn't make it and that I couldn't sing and play guitar right before I was about to publish my debut album. It is inspiring people like Edward that make me want to make a comeback.

I made the mistake of watching this at 4:00AM as it inspired me to pick up my guitar and start singing (I was playing Don't by Ed Sheeran).
Around 4:50AM I hear loud banging coming from the next house over. Thinking I should probably shut up at this point I went to bed and went to work the next day.
I get a text from my mom in the evening and it said,
"David, your neighbors just left. They said your playing woke up the baby and, as such, everyone in the house. I think that was the nicest way I've ever heard someone say shut the f*** up."

Absolutely love this man - everything he stands for, everything he went through; truly inspirational! Also, that third clip always gets to me. It was filmed at the CZcams Creator Space in London, and I actually know almost everybody that was there, which makes watching it incredibly surreal!

I loved the tap analogy how the bad stuff will come for a while but then it will be clean water.
My voice is kinda bit like how he played on the phone and I'm always beating myself up that I'm not 'talented' but thank you Ed for saying that it's all practice. I'm gonna practice until the clean water comes.

The 10,000 hours thing is reassuring! I've seen a few vids lately that suggest it's a waste of time to just play for extended periods. I've done these hours and nearly a thousand shows.... maybe it's 50,000 hours for me, then the rest. :oD Wicked video.... cheers!

I have been taught all those rules (especially 1, 3, 8, 10, and very often 9) since I was so relaxed, dependent, and lazy when I was a kid, yet most of my medals are gold in school.

He is just an amazing legit person. Since I want to pursue music I look upto him and there is every possible reason for me to look upto person like him.
I started singing western when I was 13 and was terribly bad at it. But with time I realize I got much better that much that I can play in front of some people. But still I need to improve alot and found my distinctive voice. It really helps if you stick to your dream and never let it go 'cause others don't appreciate. You need to be your own confidence. I hope I'll make it through this phase and could be a singer for an audience who would adore my work.
