I actually landed a great job, where I build power BI reports for a company, and I must confess, 99% of the job is done using your tutorials. Great work you're doing and I bet I'm not alone in saying you're arguably the best Power BI tutorial guy. Tanks a lot Bass!
How did you get the job?
I studied, sent hundreds of resumes and stars finally aligned. If you're persistent you get what you ask for I guess. Just don't get distracted and follow your goal man
Lmao me too and seeing bass videos learn how to make a huge reports
thank you much! so nice to hear that! 😁
Same for me!!
This video is really helpful to the people who are learning powerBI through youtube. It would be really great if you could create more videos like this, analyzing and pointing out the good things or best practices in somebody else's report. I've seen this type of videos, where a person (for example) "rates", and gives feedback about a PC gaming set up, I think it would be similar to it. We could really use your feedback to understand how a professional powerBI report should look like.
Thank you for all the effort you put into your videos, I've learned almost all I know about powerbi from them
I've watched many of your videos over the last 18 months, and I have to say that this one is the one I've found to be the most useful so far! Picking up a little skill here and a tweak there is nice, but knowing what future employers are looking for will carry us farther I believe. I've been working in Power BI for 18 months, but for one big company and one large client, so everything that I've learned has been tailored specifically to the client's needs. Now I'm looking to branch out more broadly and increase my skills, and I'd love to see more videos like this so I can see what I've missed by only going into what my job requires.
great to hear that! will maybe post more videos like this :)
This is awesome! Thank you bass for sharing, it has absolutely expanded my horizon on what is achievable with PBI, and what a truly professional and motivated PBI developer can imagine!
This is equivalent to a website that web developers create to showcase their skillset, it also sets them miles ahead of the crowd who claims to know "PBI" because they have written the helloworld equivalent of it.
This honestly sets your channel apart from all the others, and in my eyes makes you a PBI am-bass-ador!
Please keep it up, the work you do pushes the boundary further and motivates me to keep developing myself knowing to not settle with the ordinary. Do let us know if you're still hiring :D
Out of the box…as always…Thanks for sharing and keep motivate everyone to think and explore beyond limits👍
Saw the short for this video, it’s soooo fkn clean man! It’s late night now, but I’ll go sleep for now.
What is wonderful video! I hope I can reach the level of this job candidate. I learned Power BI totally through watching CZcams videos by Bas and a few other people. This video opens new horizons.
Thank You for this video! ❤
thank you!!! 😎👊😁
Good points as always Bas👌, and glad to hear you talk about not Just technical arguments but also other related contents which are very valuable.
Great insights, on both Power BI development and the hiring process.
thank you!! 😊
This is extremely inspirational…thank you for sharing this insight!
😊really nice to hear that! thx for watching
Thank you for this video. One would assume that employers would take similar approach. But it's not often the case.
I would try to find a way to send a pbi report / application to the manager of a team I would like to join .. instead of being another resume that gets scanned by hr
thank you for sharing Bas
My pleasure!
Good Ideas, thank you very much.
😊 thx for watching
You should make a video where you setup a guideline with all these steps and best practices to produce a high quality report
How did that Calendar hierarchy come up in Calender Table
Thanks so much for this, no jokes I have applied for 1006 jobs and all failed 😢.
It keeps breaking my heart.
I am good with power bi, and I mix it up with data warehousing, python.
Still nothing
if you applied so many times i would consider rethinking the approach you r taking .. something is not right .. I would rethink the companies / jobs you are applying to (is it a good match?), and how you apply and what you send (are you just blasting out the same to everybody or are you adjusting your application so it is the best it can be for the position you are applying to)
Pretty cool, thank you :)
thx for watching 😎👊
thank you for the great video :)
Glad you liked it! 😊
In the beginning - The DAX Measure that is using the summarize - you said I wouldn't do it that way - Can you explain how you would get a similar result?
Adding calculated columns inside summarize results in poor performance. Also, conditional statements (IF function) are not recommended for measures (it result in a callback to the formula engine).
Hello, thank you very much for your information. I have learnt Power BI from you. Thank you so much for making this. Can you please make a video on
How to Make Background Color Range Dynamic With Changing X Scale. I saw a video in youtube that can be done in Chart JS. Is it possible in Power BI. Thanks a lot
not entirely sure what you mean, but this vid goes deeper into the color topic czcams.com/video/wTRrskQzAHk/video.html
Great! I´ve already sent my pbix file :)
Thank you for your amazing content
Hi Baz, I wanted share my report to you. Where can I do it
How do you keep this from getting tossed by the algos?
send it as a link
Why would you want a date table in DAX instead of in Power Query?
Doesnt matter really
It's an either or thing. I typically will make more tables and my date tables upstream vs in report level. I prefer saving resources for my app level performance so I try to only use DAX for measures or creating custom vizs. Mostly because my datasets uncompressed size is 15gb's.
Yes it does, DAX is always a last resort. DAX date tables on big data are a huge mistake @@HowtoPowerBI
@@Freeflier1978 This is the correct approach. DAX is always the last resort.
This can scale, too, to other people’s metadata
not sure what you mean
How sure can you be that the semantic model has really been done by the applicant? I am not a fan of such overloaded work-proofs.
you can't bet, but after 1 or 2 questions in the interview you can be very sure if they did it themselves (only rarely had it that this wasnt the case) ... for me this approach works way better then CVs in terms of figuring out who the "right" people are for the job, and saves a lot of time in interviewing people that would not be a good fit based on their skills
Bas, a measure is table is not directly needed. I always advice it, but the dax leading persons, alberto and marco do not use it. See their tutorials
I like it when my measures r organized whether that is measure table, folder, naming convention used etc (measure table is not necessarily needed, just one way to do it)
I usually just ask people what the calculate function does and 90% immediately fail 😂😂😂
Haha, but if you scan applications for a certification (e.g., PL-300), your question is futile at best and annoying at least.
The correct answer is "I have no ide but it works enough for me."
No way!! Really???????
@@psz34 100%. You realise pretty quickly that most people who use Power BI don't really understand or know what filter and row context is, let alone context transition.
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Do you know of any good CZcams channels that can teach all these wonderful skills, Bas? I really want to learn How to Power BI.
Mine? Lol
Seriously 90% of applications had date table wrong? I am speechless 😶
that's how "easy" it is to get in the top 10% of all applications ;)
❤❤❤
😁
Do you really still have this privilege in the Netherlands of choosing the candidate you want ? Not any more in my country. It is more often these days that the employer has to be able to please the candidate, not vice versa.
got a remote team so that opens it up to many more people
What country is that? I'm moving there 😂
@@HowtoPowerBIRemote teams still list SQL as one of the major requirements for a PBI job, although it is absolutely not needed, don't they :) ?
f*ing genius
😊
