these riders are good, no one can deny that. but if you look at the thousands of riders that are JUST as good or better, but just cant afford the horses and to compete at this level and it's really just not fair. If every rider could afford these same horses, I can bet there would probably be a whole different set of maclay finalists
...and this is where it all started. My sister saw this, fell in love with it all, and what do you know, she's one of Frank's newest students. It's pretty cool though, and who knows, if there is ever a Horse Power 2, I might get to be on TV! :D
As an equestrian, but of the broke nature, I know these riders have the most money and that's why they're here. I love and hate this sport because money is such a large factor.
Man these girls have worked their butts off to get where they are! I have just bought my medal/maclay horse and she is in training as we speak! I can't wait to make it to these girl's level.
No Horse Power was made before/during the 2005 Maclay and there hasn't been any new seasons of Horse Power since then. They should make another season of Horse Power! It's the best show EVER!!! =]
you dont have to have a lot of money to go to the maclay. if you rlly want to go to all the big shows you have to REALLY want it. i dont have a lot of money especially in the economy today. i volunteered to get riding lessons 7 days a week on my horse training myself wasnt enough. if u work at ur barn for lessons it also gets your strength up a lot! and u get a better bond with your horse.
for what everyones talking about, how expensive it is, its going to be super expensive no matter where you are, but if your really set on it, it IS possible. like right now, im at a small barn leasing a horse that can take me there rather than owning, working to pay for my lease and shows and choosing what shows i do very carefully. it can be done
I only ride once a week and i have been riding for 4 years. I am trying to go in shows. Show season (for my type of riding) starts in less than a month!! I have prooved that im good enough to go in big shows. If only my parents could afford all the shows I can go in
I have a warmblood that i found dirt cheap because he was supposedly a piece of s***, well after discovering some arthritis and previous injuries that were left untreated, and we were able to fix al that...he became the best horse at our barn....just goes to show you that this high level of riding is too often a money game and everybody immediatly judges the horses they come across from the outside, without actually getting to know the horse and how it works and if it really has what it takes
well what I have to do is I've worked out a lease with my trainer, I get free rides and lessons on her horse that I'm going to start showing in these shows soon. but to get that i have to help her at the smaller shows with her other students, bathing, grooming, tacking, schooling, and warming up the other horses. i also help her during lessons, raising/lowering the jumps, moving jumps, setting up courses, all that. and on top of everything i also clean stalls every afternoon. its takes a lot of-
and if you want to go to the maclay you should start out on smaller shows and for extra practice go to the hampton classic the jumps are beautiful, challenging and will get you ready for the maclay. it may seem like a lot of work but its worth it. ive been training for the maclay and i will be going to the hampton classic at the end of the summer as my last show before the maclay so see some of you there
all horses have a lot of potential and yes Warmbloods are flashy and showy but any horse that can jump a 3'6 fence and look good should be worthy of Maclay as long as the rider rides well too. :)
I wish I had this kind of money to afford great trainers and great horses. Though I love my horse and wouldnt trade him for anything in the world EVER. But i wish my barn at least had a sand ring or an indoor ring :P
@horsegirl71794 Like Maggie :P. (which was why I was rooting for her) I agree mostly, but they really do have the core position that only comes from quite a lot of practice.
I think these girls have a lot of talent and passion but this TV show kind of misses the point of the bond and the time. You know? Like, you don't need a half a million dollar horse to get here.
I'm sure that the reason they called Lindsey the longshot is because anyone who hasn't competed in the Maclay before and doesn't get to ride at a competitive show barn all the time doesn't have as good of a chance of being able to win the Maclay. I'm not saying she is a bad rider or isn't as good as the other riders...of course she just as good as the other riders, she just doesn't have experience or some of the advantages that the others have riders have...it's not mean...it's reality!
haha =) but I agree, i mean they have to be good to jump that high and control their horses and stuff but the horse has a big part in it. But also, riding a horse once might not show much of him, but its riding him all the time that will show if your good or not :P
@sportsbabe27 Wow....I ride with Harry deLeyer's son Harry deLeyer Jr and I show on the A and AA equitation circuit...and he only charges $400/month for board......
@horsegirl71794 I know you posted your comment like a year ago buttt... no horse is completely push button... I've ridden the green and the nice A circuit horses. they are both difficult, just in different ways. What's wrong with owning nice horses anyways?
i know already that brianne ended up winning, but why did they just assume that one of them would win? "This year, one of these teenage riders will win the Maclay Championship"......
@horsegirl71794 Those horses are not push button. I have ridden a few horses at that level and have watched many horses at tha level and heck lot of them are not pish button. They are fancy but you cant just oint them at a jump and they will jump it they need confidence. If you watch the whole show you will see there are refusals and falls. Even the top horses are not push buttons. Like the barn Im moving to has been to maclay many years and the horses they take their are far from push button.
well, you need to have a lot of money to reach all this, they offered me a free horse, wich was worth like 100.000 dollar, and I still didn't get it. and I'm not learning to much without a horse, so you definitly need to have money to get all this!!!
i dont think u hav to be well known to get a lease...more likely youur trainer haas to be iin a good network to get a good horse like logan for example. but i agree even if you r a working student its still expensive but catch-riding is a solution but u have to be good at it because they want their horse sold. maria is a good rider so it worked out fine. and maggie had to be good at training ponies or-else her little business wold not be very successful.
yea i wasn't saying that you have to be rich or any of that other stuff all i was saying is that she didn't have a big trainer helping her and she wasn't as talented/experienced as the other riders so she probably didnt have as high of a chance of winning a national medal final
I wish theyd make another season of this. Such an amazing show.
these riders are good, no one can deny that. but if you look at the thousands of riders that are JUST as good or better, but just cant afford the horses and to compete at this level and it's really just not fair. Who's watching in 2019?
As an equestrian, but of the broke nature, I know these riders have the most money and that's why they're here. I love and hate this sport because money is such a large factor.
100% agree
A push button horse is only pushbutton if you know what buttons to push.
It would be awesome if they keep making this show!
Man these girls have worked their butts off to get where they are! I have just bought my medal/maclay horse and she is in training as we speak! I can't wait to make it to these girl's level.
I remember this show! I used to watch it all the time!
If this show doesn't come back, I'll write an angry letter.
No Horse Power was made before/during the 2005 Maclay and there hasn't been any new seasons of Horse Power since then. They should make another season of Horse Power! It's the best show EVER!!!

I wish they would do another season!
-work to do this if you DONT have the money, but its not impossible. if you REALLY want it, theres always a way to get there.
stacia was his kid who turned into his wife but now they are brocken up but he rode as a junior.
for what everyones talking about, how expensive it is, its going to be super expensive no matter where you are, but if your really set on it, it IS possible. like right now, im at a small barn leasing a horse that can take me there rather than owning, working to pay for my lease and shows and choosing what shows i do very carefully. it can be done

frank madden is amazing!!!!!! i was in a clinic with him! it was soo fun!
training/prepering for the Maclay right now..hope to go and qualify by 2011.
I LOVE THIS SERIES I HAVE TO BUY IT!! :D

at 2:14 they are at the VA horse center!! thats so awesome!
What song is the theme song?
and thank SO much for putting this show up!
Not trying to be rude... but they don't seem like the BEST teenage riders to me... they seem like the luckiest...
They should make a tv show like this for dressager riders!
Well you learn something new everyday. Because I know that the mini CET is 3'3 (I'm doing it next year, hopefully) so I thought it was 3'6.
Easy there, Sparky, I could have been replying to madicarr. I understood you.
I think these girls have a lot of talent and passion but this TV show kind of misses the point of the bond and the time. You know? Like, you don't need a half a million dollar horse to get here.
honestly the only reason you need a half a million dollar horse is for looks because some tb's can take you just as far.
I'm sure that the reason they called Lindsey the longshot is because anyone who hasn't competed in the Maclay before and doesn't get to ride at a competitive show barn all the time doesn't have as good of a chance of being able to win the Maclay. i saw nikko at regionals in 2006
He didn't come out of nowhere for in regards to finals winners - Stacia Klein (Madden) won a final or 2 training with him.
haha =) but I agree, i mean they have to be good to jump that high and control their horses and stuff but the horse has a big part in it. But also, riding a horse once might not show much of him, but its riding him all the time that will show if your good or not :P
@Sarah Foster ...you are SO right
@wannabediva100 I think when they aired it, it was after they finished filming everything
anyone know the theme song? it's cheesy but it's cute!
Agreed. But I thought the CET was 3'6? Or is the finals just 3'9?
Do you know what the first song is that introduces everyone? I have been looking everywhere for it and I haven't found a thing. Thanks!
THEY are not the best. THEY are the damn wealthiest.
Jealous?
It’s true, as a middle class equestrian striving to be on the circuit, my family has realized it’s just impossible to do it unless you are mega rich
@sportsbabe27 Wow....I ride with Harry deLeyer's son Harry deLeyer Jr and I show on the A and AA equitation circuit...and he only charges $400/month for board......
OMG lucky!!
Is it just my computer or does the sound not match up with the video?
@horsegirl71794 I know you posted your comment like a year ago buttt... no horse is completely push button... I've ridden the green and the nice A circuit horses. they are both difficult, just in different ways. What's wrong with owning nice horses anyways?
they arent doing it again /:
I agree. My mutt does just as good and I have seen some really gorgeous thoroughbreds do amazing as well.
not only be a good rider
you first need to have a horse!!
and you wont get any further without a horse
*first*
and third you dont have tto ride 7 days a week to win that yes u need practice but u can take days off as long as when u do ride u work hard!!
I totally agree with you
the words aren't matching the video
i know already that brianne ended up winning, but why did they just assume that one of them would win? "This year, one of these teenage riders will win the Maclay Championship"......
@horsegirl71794 Those horses are not push button. I have ridden a few horses at that level and have watched many horses at tha level and heck lot of them are not pish button. ugh and i wish i could ride 7 days a week :P
Yea my board is about $400 a month

I wonder where these girls are now in their riding careers.
The the who won the whole thing is a pregnant whore and the rest had 000 $$$ Need I say MORE!
@@jmc1987jcgc no... brianne is a successful trainer and does the grand prixs
@horsegirl71794 That is sooooooooooooo not true. Those girls work their butts off to get around the courses. They make it look easy.
no shes just leasing him
sooo true :))
i dont think u hav to be well known to get a lease...more likely youur trainer haas to be iin a good network to get a good horse like logan for example. but i agree even if you r a working student its still expensive but catch-riding is a solution but u have to be good at it because they want their horse sold. maria is a good rider so it worked out fine. and maggie had to be good at training ponies or-else her little business wold not be very successful.
yeah, i know. It makes the truly horse crazy people look like they don't know what to do with a horse. you know?
i hate how fist of all they make it seem like no one else had a chance of winning and two how they make it so dramatic!!!
Did Lillie Keenan buy Logan?
No.
I wish I had money....
thats not always true. you are making it sound like brianne goutal for example is not a good rider. she is fantastic
equitation riders dont get endorsements or sponsors
@eliza671 lol. keep dreaming, sweetheart.
yea i wasn't saying that you have to be rich or any of that other stuff all i was saying is that she didn't have a big trainer helping her and she wasn't as talented/experienced as the other riders so she probably didnt have as high of a chance of winning a national medal final
You have to have rich parents.💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸
Who peed in your Cheerios? It's a CZcams video. Chill out.
I'm sorry, but for me the top honor in junior riding isn't to win Maclay. It's to win American Eventing Championships.
