- Today’s Urban Valor story brings us Marine Corps veteran Corporal Paul
Parkhurst in this veteran interview.
Paul takes us through his life before joining the Marines, while in
the Marines, and the struggle of transitioning out of the military after
witnessing traumatic experiences.
Paul recalls a war story where he was shipped off to Kuwait in 2003 in
preparation for the Invasion of Iraq, just 2 months after joining his fleet.
As part of Task Force Tarawa, Paul battled the mental strain of sleep exhaustion and stressors of war intensified by the reminders of the price of battle as his convoy drove past
dead bodies along the roads.
He shares with us the psychological effects of leaving for a second
deployment immediately following the first and highlighting the impact of
being subjected to horrific circumstances. Paul's war story also reminds the audience
that leaving the service -- which for him happened 9 days after returning
home from Afghanistan -- does not mean leaving the stress and anxiety
behind.
Paul courageously speaks about the consequences of war and the necessity
of seeking assistance regarding mental health, which could manifest into
physical ailments.
To those watching, this episode will be a reminder of the impact war has on
combat veterans while in combat and even more so after coming home from
combat.

Go on let's hear your story and thank you for your service.
Thank you both for your service and God Bless!
Did he use the word “legit” as much as he does now?
I was in 2/8 motor vehicle system operator 1 then in initial invasion
Anyone, and I mean anyone diagnosed with PTSD should sit down and listen to this hero.
As a combat Vietnam Veteran as soon as this video started I saw PTSD.
Thank you, thank you Marine.
May you stay safe.
Peace to all 🇺🇸
Yeah can see it.. he does a good job with his breathing.
My Dad fought on Tarawa,Saipan, Tinnian....😊
I’m so proud to be able to say that I’m an American. And it’s these kind of men that represent the very best of this country. Thank you so much for sharing some of your story with us sir. Thank you for your sacrifice’s. Freedom does not come free.
yeah i mean the armed forces are the only thing taken seriously by the world. everything else about america is just a big joke
You'd still have the same freedoms you have now. Iraq and Afghanistan was a waste of human life. Totally unnecessary. Just look at Iraq and Afghanistan now. Is it better than before? Far from it. Hell, the Taliban are back in power!
So yeah, sacrafices for nothing.
@@omarab837 wrong
@@omarab837 I have never made a comment like this before but it's so appropriate to say... your a IDIOT!! If you think leaving Saddam Hussain in power or not avenging 911 in Afghanistan was the right thing to do your a fool.
Did I miss something ? Nothing happened in his story. I wouldn't even want to hear his "story" having a beer in a bar !

My heart hurts for these guys ! The military does not take care of them the right way! This is the same story every veteran has . They gotta figure something out so these brave men aren’t suffering silently ❤

Holy shit! It's Paul! I know him!
Wow what an honest heart felt look at a life that most people never experience. He is the kind of man I would want as a neighbor or colleague.
Awesome video my sister served in the Ohio on Army National Guard and she served in Iraq from 03 to 04. She was a 88 Mike transportation.
I have only respect for our military and veterans those guys go trough a lot .God bless you all .
🙏🇺🇸
I clicked on the video bc of the AC-130 in the title but I really appreciated the video and the story, every part of it, so thank you
I was an EMT for 6yrs and ran calls everyday with PD and SO. The anxiety of dispatch dropping a call on you is definitely real. Especially when it's a GSW or MVA. I ran so many cardiac arrests i stopped counting. The stigma is real. Like "this is what I signed up for" so you just do the job. I decided to step away after that 6yrs and focus on myself but I miss it everyday. I feel ya, brother! Thank you for your service. Both military and in law enforcement.
Same thing happened to one of my friends joined the marines lived in Georgia got stationed in Camp Pendleton for 8 years
❤️
I was there at the same time, pretty close to them. I think the airfield he’s talking about is Talil airbase near Nasariyah.
1/227 Avn Reg… Ft Hood. I was there brother. God bless you. 2 tours man.
Word has it that maintenance company wasn’t cleaning their weapons and were unable to fire back when they were ambushed in reference to the Jessica Lynch story…
Salute🇺🇸
Semper Fi ! 🇺🇸💀⚡️⚡️
I was on the Barbour County in the 80’s and I did cool stuff with the Marines and a little of the seals. That was bad assed.
The Taliban greatly feared the AC-130. They called it the green monster.
semper fi brother
Semper Fi 🇺🇸
This is some good shit. Keep it up man!
Thanks!
I guess you told the truth on your dream sheet, bro. LOL
They always station you as far away from you desired duty station as possible. I requested Oceania, VA and NAS Jax but got sent to Whidbey Is WA which turned out to be a really good thing. Loved it there.
Brother,, Thank you for my Freedom.. Dam you jumped from the frying pan right into the hottest fire in the Country. I Applaud your Bravery. I will pray 🙏 for you daily my friend.. Keep fighting for that 100% Disability, You Warned it you Deserve it. God Bless 🙏 you and your family. Amen

Let’s go!!!!
Looking forward to this!
Thank you for your service brother 🙏🏻🇺🇸
“A lot of doors where wearing sandals and had beards got a introduction to the wrath of the breaching shotgun”
Did you guys ever find any WMDs ?
“No dumby your infantry “😂
🤣
31:57 brings the story of the AC-130 Gunship
Now you could ask him how the water at Camp Lejune tasted.

Kilo Co 3/9 1/80-1/84 US Army 1996-2013...Semper Fi!
What did u do in the Army?
Bro the thumbnail and then the tittle 🤣
America can never stop 💸🇺🇸
Great interview….this is an outstanding young man. His service is very appreciated…in both, the military and police force. That said, 99.9% of this video has nothing to do with the AC-130 taking out the Taliban. Still a great interview, just the same.
Thanks, I was looking for the part where they talked about the AC-130. Not sure why the clickbait. I'm sure his story is equally as impressive without having to add misleading titles.
@@chrisc2683 💯
@@chrisc2683its not clickbait all the interviews he just picks a part of the story to use in the title. All the interviews are long form and its hard to fit everything into a title so he just picks one interesting thing. Because of the long form I don't consider it clickbait.
Vitamin B1 supplement is helping me, about 2-300 milligrams, Safe non-toxic. Vitamin B-6 also, but it causes flush, heat and redness and some itch. About 80 mg, 200mg is too much. Though apparently, safe non-toxic.
The base is Kuwait was probably Arifjan later it was Ali Asaleem. Lol, dude asks a Marine,”what were the showers like?”
Funny, I got 10% automatically, giving yes no answers and wanting to get out of there. Years later after finally seeking professional help they gave me 50% for PTSD. 0% on everything else
My only criticism is that corpsman hate to be called medics.
👍
zero integration! I get that, after military I was contractor in middle east then couple years in Africa for ISR platforms. Predators and Reapers (drones) but back home life is so normal compared to Congo or Niger. I would have to check myself at home to follow rules because we had carte blache overseas. zero integration.
43:35..Suffer in Silence
I'm a US Army Valor w/ V-device winner from Iraq. Where & when did you earn your Battlefield Valor? I earned mine after an ISIL Sucide Bomber drove his truck through our secured perimeter simultaneously detonating a 1,300lb improvised explosive killing and injuring dozens of US Army Mechanics and other Air Cavalry Employees! We lost comms, so. Me being a my brothers keeper. I ran into enemy fire to try and start-up an inoperable electric generator. At the time I thought the batteries were the problem. So, I in the heat of battle while getting shot. I made a run to where I stashed batteries for an emergency. Batteries weren't helping that destroyed generator. So, we found a different comms device. Then I being a Trained US Navy Corpsman furthered my honorable situation by providing aid to every injured or deceased soldier at that FOB. I then furthered myself more by getting an AC-130 GunShip Mates Position. That's where and how I came in contact with Paul Parkhurst. That's also where I started having an issue with his illegal involvement in US Military conflict. I say such because I grew up with The Hurst Family who owns Hurst Automotive Parts. They are all legally blind. As you can see. That guy in the video isn't!
I brought an Army buddy to eat at Charleston AFB chowhall once and he was pissed. He didn't realize. I nevet had a waiter at our chowhalls but I know the Affes staff of whatever they were would take our plates and wipe the tables. I guess that kinda is like having waiters... shit
You really can't call this a click bait video, but why call it about ac-130's when you have seconds of talk about the title?
Take the firemans test✌
🇺🇸🦅✌🏻
Hey this is my friends dad actually I didn’t even notice until
I really took a look at his face
Nice! He and I served together.
I didn’t even know that I’ll ask him about you
T32 tanks?
Not all of this guys stories seem to line up
The only time I had to rub elbows with marines I got blown away by a truck bomb shitttt
They want to make you uncomfortable...
So in-between the location and especially the weather it contributes to that...only an assumption tho
I was talking about how they send you away from home during b/camp etc.
To be fair I don’t think anyone would have a chance against an AC-130 lol
If someone from another country came into your neighborhood and started killing people would you call them a terrorist? 🧐
is this interviewer a sixth grader?
I’m not sure he’s correct in saying there was IDF in Afghanistan
There was
@@LitCentralMillennialXLIII sorry the IDF deployed troops to Afghanistan
The title of this video is very misleading.
Yeah. The title is disgusting, really. No wonder people hate Americans.
Off question, he mentioned they didn’t talk to women but they played with the kids, did girls play too or just boys? I’m unaware of the culture.
I would love to hear more about their civilian interactions. Please ask more questions about it in future interviews!

Next video..How the Vietnamese lost to the US...
Who’s this boot on my screen?
haha
Asking for psychic help, these days? Just might get your 2A rights taken away from you. Just sayin. I live in commi California, and I'm shocked we can still own any guns.
Thank you for your service 🇺🇸
