I heard Leonskaja play the Brahms 2nd in the mid 1990's in Salzburg and was hooked. Brilliant pianist!

Dank aan de organisatie van Klassiek aan de Rijn om dit op zaterdagavond 11 maart in de Cunera kerk in Rhenen ten gehore te brengen. Je zou denken een aardige generale repetitie voor de uitvoering op 12 maart in het concertgebouw. Zo klonk het zeker niet. Het enthousiasme was er niet minder om.

Eine traurige Reminiszenz: wir führten dieses Konzert als Schüler vor Jahrzehnten mit dem Jugendorchester in meiner Heimatstadt auf; der Dirigent (Schüler), der auch dieses Orchester gegründet hatte, ist als noch junger Mensch einen schrecklichen Tod gestorben; das Orchester hat sich verlaufen. Die damalige Pianistin (Schülerin) hat auch keine Karriere gemacht, ich habe sie vor einiger Zeit einmal, fernab von der Musik, in traurigen Umständen wiedergetroffen - danke, Margot, noch im Nachhinein für diese Erinnerung aus der Jugendzeit.
