Bro!!! Life saver. I’ve been trying to figure out this problem for two years and your video was the first I saw that addressed it. I literally just did everything you did on my ‘13 SXT AWD and now it turns like a beaut!!! Thank you so much! Grab a beer, and cheers mate. Hero of the day, today!!!
Unreal..saw a guy performing this procedure at a self-serv pump as he and his family were travelling on I-75 and, frankly, Dodge should be ashamed of themselves for this design which I still find unbelievable...wow, a true engineering blunder if I ever saw one!
The standard method is to suck out as much old fluid as you can, pour in new, turn wheel stop to stop several times, suck fluid out, refill, and repeat until fluid is clean.
Thanks man!!! I have this exact problem and will be doing what you did tomorrow. After watching the video and reading the comments, it is the same problem I'm having... stupid dealership couldn't figure it out!!!
"I need some Brembos" HAHA I lost it! After helping so many people find this stupidly designed power steering pump, you still make me laugh every time with a random comment that has nothing to do with the video. Awesome Video bro, love your channel, keep it up.
Never did. I was rear-ended about 2 years ago, so right around when this was posted. Since the car was in a shop getting fixed, I proposed finding one in a bone yard and replacing it, which is what they did for me. The damned pump cost me about $600 and I think labor was $350-400. Worked like a charm, though.
why don't you just let the power steering pump pump out the old fluid while running, while continually add new fluid while your buddy is turning the the steering wheel to lock to lock until the discharging fluid runs nice and clean, the stop and add fluid if needed or remove fluid if to full. works for me.
Thanks for the video man. Thought I was crazy not being able to find this. Where did you find the scoopes on your doors? Last where did you find the chin spoiler. They look good. Nice car bud.
Thanks for your video, I was searching where was the danm steering fluid reservoir in this car. Have only experience in germany cars. but man, you should never run a steering pump without fluid. If you wanna clean you need to make two or four fluid changes starting the car always with full reservoir and new fluid. Steering pump running with air, always keep some bubbles in chamber forever and is the beginning of ugly noise there and eventually lost efficiency. That is why mostly steering pump when is replaced for specialist is pre charged with fluid using specials tools for avoid air bubbles inside before mount in car.
Mine has the same feeling of getting really hard to turn sometimes while going in reverse but I want to think mine is a bad control arm. Was your problem fixed? What was the cause? Thanks for your video
Have power steering fluid checked every 20k. This will save a lot of money and headache. The dealer won't look at it unless you ask. I put 80k on my 2014 RT and found out that my power steering fluid reservoir was almost bone dry and never has been checked. It has been serviced at the dealership since I bought the vehicle. Your steering will feel numb, rough and noisy when low. I was fortunate to only needing a flush at the tune of $260. You can do this yourself cheaper I know, but I was under a barrel and needing my vehicle asap. Hope this helps!
I don't want to bother you but this not seems to be hydraulic pump. It is electrohydraulic and you should use different fluid (much more expensive) :MS11655
I have this issue on my 2014 Challenger Rt, sudden left turn or left u turns cuts off power for a few sec, does not happen with right turns. Can u please advise
You shouldnt run the motor without fluid. Also are you sure you used the correct fluid? This is a EHPS system that requires MOPAR Hydraulic Fluid or equivalent meeting MS-11655, such as Fuchs EG ZH 3044 or Pentosin CHF 11s.
PLEASE HELP. My 2012 Challenger RT leaked out the power steering fluid and I got a "service power steering" message. The vehicle was towed home. Now with the leak fixed and pump installed. The pump won't engage in order to bleed to system. I've checked fuses and all connection plugs. The error message is still displayed and can't be picked up and cleared with a regular OBD2 scanner. Do I need to have the dealer reprogram/flash the pump? Thank you so much in advance
same problem on my ‘13 SE Charger. Just finished flushing and putting new steering fluid royal purple max EZ and it’s still marking a sweaking noise. Any suggestions?
Ramon Luis Francisco Santos I added about 1 and a half bottles. Took it to my trusted mechanic and he said it’s the whole power steering unit that causes the noise. This was my first power steering flush to this car. My car has about 116,000 miles.
2012-14 SRTS still use the belt driven power steering system and the v6 and rts have hydroelectric power steering system so thats why dodge mounted them behind the wheel liner.
Omg, I did this like 5 times, and it's STILL filthy.. I sucked so much fluid out, that I had to vacuum pump the air out. The weird part is thait turns super easy, like it's a Cadillac
What I’ve noticed on several videos is you guys are turning the wheels to get the old fluid out but y’all aren’t turning the wheels with the cap off after filling with new fluid for one the system is going to take the fluid you fill which lower the fluid level you put in and two turning the wheels with the cap off with bleed the lines taking the air out the system that’s why you had that issue and why you had to add more fluid plus you can’t go by what you took out you were low to begin with
I have a 2013 Dodge Charger and today the service "power steering system" message popped up and the steering wheel got real tight on me. The mechanic at the nearest gas station stated that it might be the pump which has to do with the hydraulic but I know better than to trust the gas station mechanic. I wonder should I do this first
It ended up being my whole pump. It was cold I didnt even want to bother getting down. I found a trust worthy mechanic who ended up flushing my shyyt, calibrated the system and we looked up the factory part 😞💀$1400 for that pump piece.... Fluid should be flushed and changed every 30k. Guys I need help I got a dodge charger 2013 n when I turn the wheels it makes a squeaky noise. Also when im driving I hear a noise like metal with metal n I believe is the ball joint on the right side. Any advice. Last year I finished paying it so now I gotta start doing some maintenance into it.
What type of issues were you having? I have the same system and am thinking of doing this. *EDIT* Looking at the fluid you removed, it seemed to be very contaminated with solid particles. I wonder if it's an issue with the pump itself?
I stuffed a lotion nozzle in there and squirted the quart into a water bottle because the pump I bought didn't fit :p turns like brand new now. Make sure to turn your wheel lock to lock before you do it
I am sure you can find some in autozone, because I bought mine as a kit and it came with everything. I would recommend just buy a new one so it can fit properly. I believe they are around $15
@@MoparGuy1625 you need to turn the steering wheel from left to the right about 20 times to get out the old power steering fluid from the power steering rack and then filled it up with new fluid and again 20 times turning steering wheel from left to right.
@@mariobross1420 That's what he said he did, he just didn't show it all on video. After the first bleed and fill, he went for a drive to do another bleed and fill.

I agree. I would never buy another dodge vehicle. Dumb engineering

Good video man I like your videos since there’s not much about our cars I have a 2013 and keep more vids coming 👍🏼
Thanks for your support man, I will try my best to keep them coming 👍👊👌

Great video. I will be attempting to do this over the coming weekend. Where did you buy the pump?
Was it not stiff since you didnt bleed the system?
How do you know when a fluid change is necessary ?
I have the 2011 dodge charger and what kind of fluid do i need
where did you buy the pump ?

did it make a humming buzzing noise?
How many miles did u have when u had to do this?
Thank you so much
Good job...You should nvr run pump low or out of fluid..I was told to use electric power st fluid from mopar..
What rotors do you have?
Is your charger awd or rwd?

one quart bottle is fine right?

What happens if u put regular steering fluid?
That will definitely destroy your power steering pump

What are the name of them wires because i need some
They are called Fluid Transfer pump, I bought it from autozone.

Mario Bross how do you bleed the whole system??
@@MoparGuy1625 you need to turn the steering wheel from left to the right about 20 times to get out the old power steering fluid from the power steering rack and then filled it up with new fluid and again 20 times turning steering wheel from left to right.
Mario Bross cool. Thanks bro!! Gonna do it this weekend
