Hello Richard. That455 Rancher is a nice little design. I have the same thing but it's the 2255 Jonesered. My advice is take off the carb and remove the limiter screws and do a muffler mod. Sounds crazy but mine Pulls a 28in bar Great. Stock it would pull a 24in bar but they respond Well to muffler mods you can't properly tune them unless you remove those caps.

@@joshuajohnson4396 personally, I run my saws stock. I'm not much of a mechanic or gear head, respectfully. The 20 inch .050 gauge bar and 3/8'' pinch chain is plenty for what I need. We have a lot of balsam fir, some hemlock, a bit of cherry. The cherry and hemlock are a little girthy but the majority of my saw tasks involve balsam fir. The fir is only a foot in diameter at best, that's old growth for these parts. The balsam tend to die and remain free standing. I take them down a little at a time or somethings a good rain storm uproots them or they parish in a snow storm. I'm not a profession but I love the hobby and swinging an axe. Its very relaxing and calming.

When it was time to get a new saw to replace my 365 special (became too heavy for me to lug/use for more than an hour) I called my tree crew over for a day as I needed to do some large chipping. The owner was nice enough to let me test drive 3 fairly new husky saws I was considering. The 550xp, the 555, and the 562xp. I told him not to pre warm any saws that day as I wanted to cold start and run all 3.
At first look and feel I was sold on the 550xp. It was light as a feather. But after starting (or trying to start) and running them all, I fell in love with the 562xp. I also liked the 555 but it lacked the grunt and zing of the XPs. He had two of the 550xps and one didn't start and the other was very hard to start, and just felt cheap in my hands. Things were loose like it rattled apart. I ended up buying the 562xp w/24“ bar and 0.058" chain (less stretch) and love it. Starts easily and runs strong in 20" hardwood.

Oh, Buckin'! Bless you! Your love for others sure runs deep! You know, homeless children can often be traced back to fatherlessness. It's more than just the lack of a dad in the house. There are plenty of children who are virtual fatherless, by lack of involvement and connection. And not to minimize moms, for it's so important for children to see their father showing true love to his wife, because she is so very important too. You are such a wonderful example of love in action! So many men just need to learn unconditional love (not to be confused with permissiveness. . .) I don't want anyone to think that I've "arrived", but I want to keep growing along my life's journey. I know this, and still have plenty of room for improvement. Keep on sowing the seeds of love and kindness!

I love the "bucking with a short bar" in the title. It looks like a 20" bar. That's the maximum recommended bar length on that saw. Surely it would pull longer bars albeit not buried but in that size wood. It's the combination of .325 setups not offering longer than 20" bars normally in addition to most of this size saws does not oil well enough to push it any longer than 20".
Personally I'd love one of these little saws with a lightweight 24" bar or even 28" .325 for a reach aspect. Keep the saw in a comfortable position while blocking and limbing smaller wood. Not for burying the bar.
I'm out East, so while the "stand up and buck" holds true everywhere and I'm a believer, the most common time we have to reach is actually when limbing our shorter but far "stemier" trees that crown out far more than your straighter taller trees. These smaller saws really start to show their worth.
Love these saw 'reviews' as you really aren't showing bias and show how you use them not trying to sell them.

I felt that bran new out of the box i had to adjust the tension a few times but after that it ran solid for a month with out doing anything but keeping it clean. I use my 550 xp mark 2 for bucking
And unless I'm looking at a log more
    Than 12 inches in diameter it's a
Very capable saw. This saw cuts
Beautifully a 16 inch bar. Less
    Weight and chain to spin.

God bless you Billy, keep spreading the word. Like me, the streets are my church. I'm in el paso tx and you've probably already heard of the influx of immigrants.
1st of all, there not as many or ill as the media or the politicians claim, we're not being taken over.
These Humans However they too need help and is why I say the streets are my church. I don't need 4 walls, the people out on the streets are my 4 walls.
    God bless you billy.
