      @darkaquatus Před rokem +31

Well, yes and no. The forcefield does work in such a way that the amount and the speed of which you ascend very much matter. That's why the cave raiders have to slowly ascend back up after an excavation to limit the negative effects they will have to suffer from. So immediately going back down again after you start feeling the effects probably do help, even with the curse of the 6th floor. But she does eventually die, so it didn't really matter that much.
I realize all we can do is speculate, because things aren't really explained or even explored in the show. This is actually a serious point of criticism I had for season 1. They just rushed through the entire thing for no good reason. The mysteriousness of the abyss and the main characters exploring it and facing the dangers it contains should have gotten a bit more love, I think. Just rushing through the first 4 floors felt really anticlimactic to me. Even veterans, who have been doing this work for many years, struggle with this. And only a handful of people managed to get to the 6th floor and survive. Yet, these untrained and inexperienced children just ran down there like it was nothing. I think the descension we see in season 1 should have been spread out over 2 seasons instead so we could have gotten a closer look into what the abyss actually is and how it works. Right now the abyss seems a lot less mysterious and scary, which is a shame.

...I'm surprised, Faputa instantly realised, that Riko's Soul isn't.... "normal". Maybe it's because Riko was stillborn on the 5th (or was it the 4th?) Layer, or because she was revived by the Course-Warding Cage...
But DAMN IT, Vueko getting hit by the Curse of the 6th Layer AND Pakkoyan's Sacrifice to save her made my really REALLY sad... poor Girl. Aside from Irumyuui, she's the one with the worst Pasts in the second Season...

As Nanachi explained it in s1, the curse affects you as you ascend. Stop ascending, it won't affect you further. Vueko was thrown by Pakkoyan down into the village, where the force field could not reach. But the damage was already done, and while she didn't change any further, it still ultimately killed her.
It's not explored, but I reckon Pakkoyan and Vueko were lovers previously. There's one single panel in the manga showing them, um, cuddling to say. I think it might have been discussed further elsewhere, but I haven't seen any of that.
Another thing to remember with Wazukyan: Again, it's not paid too much attention, but everything came as a result of him. When Riko is attacked by the villagers and saved by Maa, Wazukyan asks if it was tough for her or something like that, implying he knew and maybe had something to do with it. It's also noted later that he planned to have Riko use a cradle of desire, the very thing that caused Irumyuui to changed this way, in order to allow the villagers to continue to roam the Abyss once more and no longer be trapped. Wazukyan was the secret villain, the whole way along.

Vueko and Irumyuui were far and away my favorite Season 2 characters and I remember on the first video I said I wanted to see Vueko and Irumyuui have happy endings. Honestly, despite the bittersweetness of it I'm satisfied with what they got.
Vueko getting hit by the curse seemed like a lame way to end it on the surface, but dig a bit deeper and it's fitting. By that point Vueko was questioning whether or not she was even still human and getting hit by the curse proved to her that despite everything she was still human, which I got the impression brought her at least some comfort in her final moments. But the thing that really got me in the feels was her last conversation with Faputa and that Faputa had no memories of Vueko because Irumyuui treasured her memories of Vueko so much that she wanted to keep them for herself. Vueko didn't die in misery; she died knowing just how much she truly meant to Irumyuui. She had been beating herself up thinking that she had let Irumyuui down by eating her kids (even under protest), not stopping the others from eating her kids and getting locked away, effectively abandoning her (even if she was inside Irumyuui's 'head'); so for her to learn that Irumyuui held none of that against her and still loved her more than anything brought her peace in her final moment and showed her that she actually had been there for Irumyuui all along and that through each other they both had in fact found what they had been looking for since Vueko escaped her fat bastard abuser and Irumyuui left the abusive natives all those years ago. That coupled with the shot of Vueko and Irumyuui's gravestones side-by-side, together forever counts as a happy ending in my book and was basically the 'Mitty Dies' of Season 2 for me in terms of emotional impact even though there was an actual Mitty Dies scene a few episodes earlier. I mean sure, they could have both not died, somehow reverted back to their pre-Mockwater human forms and lived happily ever after growing old together, but this is Made in Abyss we're watching here, that's not how it works. Peace and happiness in death along with burials symbolic of the two being together forever are as close as you're going to get.
Pakkoyan's death also hit pretty hard, but the anime screwed it up pretty damn hard by not doing anything to show that they were an item prior to that scene, so when you see Pakkoyan crying for Vueko you might get the vague inkling that she loves her, but by that time the scene is already happening and some of the impact is lost. Luckily I knew they were a thing already due to people talking about a certain missing sex scene panel, but if you're an anime-only who doesn't know that then you're going to miss out on some of the impact the scene is supposed to have. Much though I love Season 2 I do feel it was an objective narrative flaw for there not to be anything showing their relationship in episode 7 or 8, even if it wasn't that specific panel. Pakkoyan threw Vueko out of range of the curse, which caused it to stop taking effect, leaving Vueko with some of her humanity still intact for her final scene.

I can unterstand they cut out the sex scene. The Anime already barely dodges the Lolicon blames people throw at the author. Having a yuri sex scene with character that drawn in a chibi style would not make a good case for the anime^^
I also liked Wakuyan as an "antagonist". Seeing his trying to somehow save the village even though he knew it would end like this. And seeing him accepting that Fabuta would carry on their dreams. This was a truly good written antagonist. As someone who did was seemed nessesary to protect Vueko and his people.

I’m calling it. Lyza somehow transferred her soul/spirit into Riko. That’s why she constantly wants to go back to the abyss since Lyza’s physical form can’t leave until Riko returns. It’s the reason the whole 7th layer being the darkest part is because everything Riko believes about her mom is going to be a lie and find out she’s super evil now. And the reason Reg had his name in the first place is because Lyza named him Reg, and when Riko named Reg it’s actually Lyza remembering what she named him. The whole reason Reg went to the surface in the first place, to return Riko to Lyza so Reg can have Lyza back. But he forgot.
I swear I think something is gonna happen along those lines. Not Riko being a reincarnation, but kinda like a vessel like how Bondrewd uses his umbra hands.

I think he used all his value and his body in those weird branches and then he died.
Edit: actually all the villagers died by using all of his value, Belaf used his value to give Nanachi and Faputa the memories and other things, the other villagers give his value to Faputa by feeding her their bodies, even Magikajiya gave all his value to use Faputa's body and btw his was his most precious desire, to have a body and not only a recipient, and as Vueko once said: when you found your most valuable treasure then you lose your own value and your adventure stops. Faputa has to be my favorite character of MIA s2 because of how complex the character was. She was born with revenge in mind yet also was innocent and playful with Reg. She is very temperamental, only dealing with the extremes of her emotions. But the character became much more complex when Belaf gave her all of his memories. She starts to regret what she did but at the same time not because she still has a purpose. On top of all this, she has to deal with her friend who gave her a promise and a gift but doesn't remember her. In my eyes, Fabuta is an emotionally immature little girl who gets thrown all these different emotions simultaneously and doesn't know what to do with them. I enjoyed seeing how she wrestled with her goals and the new memories she got.

Oh to answer your question: although Reg is still the my favorite character in the show and I loved finally learning [a little] more about his backstory, my favorite of this season is Faputa. I just love that a creature seemingly born with the sole purpose of revenge and destined to a life of hate and misery could find greater meaning in even their lives. This ties back to Reg as it is mainly him that makes her see that. In such a dark story it seems to be a cool ray of hope in the midst of all that dispair. While she doesn't skirt her fate the resolution isn't nihilistic but surprisingly hopeful, and I hope she does in fact truly join their party.

You can see Irumyui in her village state a bit like mitty. Cant communicate, cant move, cant do anything really. Not much left of her mind at that point either. She tried to help the villagers and thus became the village. But then Vueko was hooked up to her and that made her understand the horror of what was done to her. That anger then spawned Faputa.
It took Faputa a long time to destroy the village because she grew up feral really, and couldnt get into the village. It's only when belaf let her kill him that she got any idea of what happened before she was born. And i guess she also needed to absorb the power out of all the villagers, because only then with basicly all villagers dead is when faputa could destroy the village/irumyui. That is when she finally died.

Vueko's arc was fulfilled. She blamed herself for everythink that happened to Iyumi because she can't make decisions. But thanks to Riko she regocnized she did make one important decision and how much she enjoyed her time with all the other.
At this point there were not many storys left he could tell with her. Vueko also had no reason to continue further into the abyss. Her destiny always was the golden city. She had fullfilled her desires. (What usually means character die in this plot)^^
If she survives it actual makes not much sense Fabuta continues downwards either. Because it would be a perfect set up for a happy end for the two. (Both staying together to rebuild a new home)
PS: She is also an adult. And this far only children joined the crew. I think he also just doesn't want to add a adult to the group:)
Riko is the frail human of the group. Having a frail adult that can't do much either would weaken Riko's character as the optimist that moves forward despite her weakness.

This anime just seems like a constant ripping of the watchers feels. I've never watched this anime an I don't think I want to. I don't think anyone can persuade you to like it if you decide its not for you. Narrative pain is an acquired taste, for sure. At the end of the day, what makes it bearable for me is that the despair isn't all encompassing. You have both pathos and levity and the contrast of those bright moments with the dark ones. It almost verges on the edge of diabolos ex machina sometimes, but manages to pull just short of it in my opinion.
That's why I keep reading/watching at least. I'm working my way through The Black Company book series right now and whoo boy, that's some good despair and hopelessness right there. Delicious.
