@@Javmon9 His timing is so bizarre that I have to think he's being intentionally awkward. His jokes are sandbagged and he keeps telling them. He doesn't chime in on a topic until everyone's moved on. Knowing Howie's brand of weird humor, I almost feel like he has him there to throw a wrench into the whole thing just to see how people react.

Here for Bill. Lou and Howie need to work on their listening skills. Howie especially needs to let Bill finish his thought before asking more questions.
Some guests can adapt to Howie really well and some don’t adapt and just stay themselves wherever they go like Bill. But also both Howie and Bill are from the comedy world and different styles of comedy so it’s hard for them to bounce off each other. Watch Howie with non comedians and he takes over the room.

I've been trying to figure out lou's absurdist, off kilter, flow killing humour and it gives me the same kinda cringe inducing feeling as like David Brent or Michael Scott from the office did. It's weird that I still find it funny after a while, even though my immediate reaction is to be slightly uncomfortable and a bit angry at the character. That said by the time "I read a book about cacti" came up I was shouting wtf while laughing my ass off.

4/4 on top with his hands, and believe it or not, 23/16 with his feet. Try and wrap your head around that! The polyrhythms sync up every 4 bars.
Ok I’ll try and it explain for those of you curious…
4/4 is the time signature of the song, it’s what everyone in the audience and the band is bopping along with. The drummer is playing that groove with his hands…..now while that is happening, his feet are playing a pattern of 23/16ths. Now that may seem absurd, and trust me, it is, but that 23/16th FITS into 4/4 once every 4 bars…..think of it this way: 4/4 (lowest common denominator in math) times 4 is 16/16. So the 23/16 syncs up with 4/4 once every 4 bars….
this drummer’s crazy feet are doing 23 notes in 16th note intervals during those 4 bars. So, that feet pattern matches the 4/4 hand pattern ONCE every 4 bars.
Oh, and btw. Even the drummer had difficulty mastering this song, and was unsure if he could play it live. It took him months to master it to the point in which he could play it reliably every night on tour. The definition of next level drumming!

Having the adult perspective, the child’s perspective who grew up with that adult, and having to actually hatch things out and come to mutual understandings on things (even like something like the Mushrooms example for micro dosing for anxiety and depression). Then I watched the interview.

Bill has trouble getting through to Howie. It's really interesting to watch these two legends. Their energy doesn't mesh well in some ways. Bill is a VERY mature conversationalist that can read people very intuitively. He understands that Howie isn't picking up on a lot of what he's putting out but he knows how to navigate the conversation so well. Year after year he is becoming such a wise person. I'd like to meet the guy. Howie is amazing in his own way, they just don't mesh perfectly. Great podcast BECAUSE of this.
