Love your videos man. Spent all weekend watching many of them and learned so much!!. Getting ready to toss some turbos in my 03 Silverado with a 5.3L. Im working on routing my hot side and installing my wideband, wanted to make sure I got it installed properly and I seemed to reclall learning that angle is important but didn't remember details, watched a HOLLY video specifically on installing wideband sensors and they didn't even mention that part! But within the first few mins of your video your clarification when you said about the 9 to 3 o clock angle is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you

Appreciate the explanation, I’m welder/ fabricator professionally so comfortable welding, but I am only a hobby tinkerer with my vehicles, so I appreciate you explaining where to add the bung for the wideband

Great video sir. Very professional. Just wanted to throw something out there for those of us who don't have a welder: AEM also has a no-weld bung option and it actually works! P/N 30-2355-XXX. No gimmicks. I did an install vid on my channel if anyone wants to see more on this no-weld option. My AEM UEGO wideband works perfectly.

I have a set of xforce 1 3/4 extractors that have 2 Bungs each side just before the cats get bolted on, I have factory o2 in the ones closest to motor and the next bungs about 4” behind them, is it ok to use the afr o2 sensor in the rear ones? Thanks bud love the vids. Gives us confidence to have a crack at this ourselves
Sorry if is a dumb question but I'm learning, what if you are working on a customer vehicle, and lets say that they just want you to tune the maf and they don't want actually do a permanent wide band install, what do you suggest in that situation? I guess you take one o2 sensor off and temporarily install the wide band in that spot to be able to read and collect the data? Thanks in advance, great videos, learning a lot!
Thanks for the video, I have a question on the Innovate DLG-1. According to the directions it says to weld the bungs 24” from the collector. Do you know if that is required? Or why that is? I have seen a lot of installation videos of people not doing that without any problems. I will be installing them on a foxbody, and don’t like where 24” puts the O2 sensor. The stock location of the O2 sensors are within 6” of the collectors. And like I said I see people using the stock locations and just wonder what the reason for the 24” from collectors is. I believe the stock O2 sensors are narrow band, maybe that’s the difference?? Thanks!

Just got done putting wideband on my 1994 s10 3rd gen 5.3 swap
. Not sure how important but my instructions said set bung @ a 15 degree angle towards flow . Reading lean at idle now . Guess I better watch some more of your vids!
Just wanted to comment on the wide band I bought by mistake , seller says it can’t be adjusted it’s just for viewing, I told them I set up a tune with some basic parameters do you think it will try to adjust with me putting afr corrections and maf frequency in that scan
So 2holes for O2 sensor and one for wide band sensor,is it matter which side you will be installing the wide band sensor ?! The reading for lean and rich will be the same for 2 banks?!

Kyle, what Wideband would your recommend for an off road buggy. Thinking the AEM you recommend in other videos is the one but I can't decide. I have hptuners and assume I'll do serial rs232 as I didn't go "pro".

Kyle, does it matter how tall the bung is? Innovate says to use a one inch tall bung for a bosch lsu 4.2 sensor and I noticed a lot of stepped bungs are less than that. They mention longevity of the sensor? Thanks for all the great vids!
It can, so I would go with recommendations as there are some considerations due to heat and exhaust exposure

i would think that a pin hole would not cause an issue when it matters (under load) as there is positive pressure in the pipe.
Can you place the wideband to close to the narrowbands? I’m working with limited room for placement before the cats.

So long as there isn't a cat, but you might get some delay in your readings at part throttle

By leaks, I believe ya know what you're talking about, but I believe ya kinda got the concept a little backwards.
Adding outside air would probably cause the sensor to read lean, but I believe the exhaust heat and pressure should take care of any unwanted outside coming in.
If I had to guess, maybe during the whole cat conv. save the world thingy and having the exhaust pulses evacuating the pipe, maybe certain pollutant gases and fuel vapors escape out of the piping through the leak, and maybe that's why the wideband 02 readings could get thrown off.
Well, I'm just speculating, because I'm still trying to further my knowledge on this topic as well.
And thus why I was watching your video...😄

Hi kyle can u clarify something is an afr sensor the same thing as a wideband sensor?
Yeah, AFR is just one of the readings, they all read in lambda and then convert to AFR if you're using AFR to tune
So when buying a gague should i just buy an afr gague or do i need a lamda aswell?
Question Sir. We did a 5.3 swap on my 96 Silverado. Just added a GT45 turbo and the manifolds are flipped and modified. Where do I install the upstream O2 Sensors ?
After the turbos, that's the important part, I'd say at least a foot away if possible

do you only check one side? or would you put bungs on both sides, and tune with one side, then check the other?
I only do one side, but if you're not going to go closed loop again it's not a bad idea to check both. If you are going to do closed loop one will get your with in a couple percent of the other and the narrow bands will take up the slack.
@@GoatRopeGarage i know ppl use the tailpipe clamp which isnt great for couple reasons, but how far off will readings be if you just put a good bung after the cats, after pipes merge together? i have a very easy place where i could install with still on the car there.
@@zparnell It varies based on the condition of the cats and stuff can be almost no difference to up to .5
I'm disappointed there is no mention of sensor protrusion into the exhaust stream nor ideal location.

Nah, on a factory ECM we don't have cylinder or bank to bank fuel control.

Why do u have 3 holes? I thought u would block off the original al o2 sensor hole and then just drill a new one for the gauge but u have 3 holes there?
the front o2 still work the wideband is only for tunning by hand rear o2 can be deleted if you dont run cats
The best advice I’ve ever heard is in this video- get good penetration, and make sure there are no air leaks.
The pipe is under positive pressure when under load which is when you really need to know the afr, a pin hole leak would not affect readings under load.
In prep for my kooks headers, I quickly welded in a bung for my Ballenger wideband. I'll master tuning with the stock exhaust first. Harbor freight welder and tons of spatter, wheee!!! The stock sensor stripped out so actually 2 bungs. i.imgur.com/0n5pjRa.jpg

The cheap bungs are terrible, I went through 3 for the same reason.

Since those are stainless pipes and bungs - hopefully stainless wire got used.
