    As music is dying in todays society, my heart yearns for music from this wonderful group as much now as when I first heard them in the at '50. From Dave Guard to Stewart to the replacement members they were simply the best. They stood the test of time and still have a following out there that any musical group would envy.

    The best American folk group ever. They polished traditional music, wrote a few modern pieces, but worked to make their natural talents give the best possible performances.
    All the originals are gone now, except Bob Shane.

      And he''s gone too. Just sitting here a couple of times a year to pull up some of their best. The never sang a bad song.

    A favorite trio since before I was old enough to go to the Hungry I or drive a car. I was fortunate to hear many of the folk groups live, in clubs, college gyms, and big concert halls, but I was never in the right place and time for a live performance by the either of the first iterations of the trio. Those first four guys were and are the only KT trio. Sic transit gloria, the younger generation will never know what music can be as a personal experience with singers who can actually sing, missed notes and all. No auto tune, just good harmony.
    What I wouldn't give to attend another Limeliters or PPM concert holding hands with the 16 year old redhead of those long ago days.

    Amazing cover of Eric Andersen's classic song. Love the Kingston trio. They were among the first records I ever bought or were bought for me by my grandparents.
    Even when the Beatles came along, I still play all of Kingston Trio's records--no matter what my other friends would say.

    ANOTHER FAVORITE OF MINE! THE KINGSTON TRIO WITH JOHN STEWART! I WILL ALWAYS LOVE THEIR BEAUTIFUL AND TIMELESS MUSIC! I STARTED LISTENING TO THEM AS A CHILD. WHEN I GOT OLDER, I SAW A LATER VERSION OF THE TRIO WITH BOB SHANE, GEORGE GROVE AND ROGER GAMBLE IN CONCERT IN THE 1980'S! THANKS FOR SHARING! R.K.3/14/2021.

    No one wrings more emotion out of a lyric than John Stewart! And his singing is like ringing a bell. The album "California Bloodlines" still makes me cry.

    “Fast Freight” by The Kingston Trio. Look it up and give a listen. So appropriate to the sound of the DPU.

    The Weavers, the Limeliters, and the Kingston Trio were the greatest groups of all time. Keep all your rap crap and heavy metal. These groups knew music!

    My personal favorite of this was done by John Denver on his "I Want to Live" album, in 1978.

    In '63 I made the march from Selma and wasn't sure if it had made a difference at all. Eric's song assured me we had made a difference.

      Eric Andersen has written this song in 1964 for a friend., He was not at this march.

    A wonderful song of Eric Andersen (1964), but for me the best version was recorded by Judy Collins on, her #5 album..

    What are thirsty boots ? Boots with a thirst for travel .... or some kind of moisture wicking walkers ?

    • @Workingcockers
      @Workingcockers Před 3 měsíci

      This song is in reference to the Civil Rights marches and Martin Luther King. Thirsty boots reference the tired feet of all those who worked tirelessly for equal rights during the 50s and 60s
