- Today, I'm sharing about my first few makes with crochet. There were the mediocre of times and the less than mediocre of times, thankfully, it has drastically improved since the beginning. Hope you enjoy!

Hello Cindy, I am so glad I found you. I am coming from Caroline for the love of crochet. She spoke so very highly of your channel. This video was hilarious. I crochet and Ive just started using my knitting machine. I also enjoy amigurumi and I have keep my first projects on display for encouragement. Your are totally right the more you crochet the better you come. I really enjoyed your video. I needed that laugh.

Oh I so relate! The person who taught me crochet only taught me a granny square. I tried doing rows, or in the round by my self, losing stitches along the way because I didn't know what I was looking at and didn't know stitch markers. I wasn't taught tension either so my stitches were chaotic. All my beginning work got ripped out though. I eventually learned from CZcams and now love crocheting! So happy you made it through the tough beginning too! ❤
I’m so glad we got to have CZcams! I’m like you everything was what I could figure out alone. I had no idea what half of this stuff was in the beginning. So glad we found our way and joy! 💗💗
Hadn't seen this video yet! I thought I had watched them all 😊. Oh, how I feel you! My beginners projects aren't on display for everyone to see 😅, but it's true that it gets better and better! If you want to learn, you will! You just have to persevere! That's what I kept telling myself. You made me laugh with your dc stitches for your blanket! Me, I started by doing some coffee cozy and gifted them to everyone I knew! So I practiced the hdc a lot! It was a good way to practice the tension...
Bless you dear one for making it through my first video. And how lucky are we to have friends and family that accept our gifts full of mistakes and imperfections. It’s a sign we are truly loved, when they love our “firsts”. 💗
Cindy, Cindy, Cindy…I absolutely love you! I rarely comment on anyone’s video but I just had to for you. I have watched most of your videos at this point and you make me laugh so much. I can totally identify with your thoughts and I am convinced we were separated at birth (and years, lol). At 63 I just started crocheting a few months ago and amigurumi is my love. Watching this video has really encouraged me to give myself grace for the things that have not turned out so well. Having seen your most recent videos first and the quality of your work it was helpful to see where you started and know that I will get better. Thank you for being you.

Ok I need to add another comment. The wool blanket in Texas had me dying. I’m originally from Texas. I don’t ever remember it being wool blanket cold. Now Pennsylvania. Yes we can use wool blankets here. 😂😂😂😂
You’re right, it is NEVER EVER, cold enough for wool. Fiber matters…and to quote my old friend GI Joe, “knowing is half the battle”😂🤣

So much, that now from the start, I'm gonna binge-watching all your videos!😄 I'm an amigurumi lover that 99% of the thi gs I crochet since approx.13 years! You're absolutely smart, passionate, funny and very pleasant to.listen too when I crochet! I"m in Montreal, Canada, most of thebti.e always comments video Iike, and my first language is French, so you will see funky sentences, but most of the time I think you will understand!

I've only just watched this... Ive just started teaching myself... I love your bunny! He is a beautiful mess like all of us... No i love the not perfect toys. I have done two different legs to two different patterns. Now I have started a belly of a bear! I did a blanket but same as you the bottom is not the same as top... Hope to finish the bear!!!!

Girl, you are hilarious!! I’m about a year behind you in crocheting. I learned to crochet with the Crochet Critters book. I made that rabbit on my very first try at crochet. I affectionately call her Roadkill Rabbit.🤣

I know it was supposed to be a rectangle but in the fashion/bag world there’s definitely bags that look rectangular but the bad is wider than the top… so your bag is perfect in my opinion 😊

I'm trying to get back to crochet and knitting... I did textiles at college. But we only produced samples.. So I'm a dab hand at squares and rectangles 😅
But I want to make actual 'things' ... This is the most encouraging video I have seen.

The sunset blanket looks beautiful the colors are totally sunset!!! I’m also loving the colors of the star blanket!! A star blanket is on my wishlist of things to make!
I completed one blanket which was a circular granny blanket but I didn’t have a very good pattern, there was no stitch counts in the pattern, so I never knew how many stitches I need in a row so it’s a bit wonky… but my younger sister really liked it so she took it to college and has it in her dorm room (it’s her first year 😊)
Have you redone the sunset or Star blanket now that you’ve learned more?
I’m thinking of redoing the circle granny blanket.
That Star blanket really burned me. I’ve never tried it again. But look up these two designers….coastal crochet. She does these amazing and unique designs and has wonderful patterns. They are a challenge, but you learn soooooo much. She usually includes videos for stitches as well. Another great set of patterns I love is by Hooked on Sunshine. I think they are a group of designers. And the patters look so hard, but I promise, they aren’t but are absolutely gorgeous with great directions and help in videos and in their group as needed.
