I had WAY too much and now i'm freaking out..
I can't get a doctor to take my high levels of b12 seriously. Its been pretty consistent between 1200 to 1400. I don't eat processed food, i am not drinking energy drinks, im not taking vitamins and i don't eat a ton of meat. I have numbness tingling legs arms hands, morning headaches, frequent migraines, pain, exhaustion/fatigue brain fog.
I’m experiencing the same thing….😮
Thank you so much for taking the time to address this issue! Do you realize how hard it is to find information on high levels of b12?
You are so welcome! Yes I am realizing that.
@@swintegrative thanks 🙏 so much for this information. Google is making me scare with different types of information…
Thank you so much Doctor I am scared
I was on 150 my new md suddenly change it to 1000 daily and I was stupid enough to take b complex with it, I took them only with a sip of water never drink liquids throughout the day now my level is 14000
20x more than normal level
He asked me to have another test in 3 m i have no symptoms
The rest of my blood test normal
Internet information is really bothersome
Thank you Doctor
@@swintegrativeI'm taking B12 every day, and mine is 1000 MCG. is it too much please help😮
@@me888ize probably just from taking it
I'm not taking any supplements, have compound heterozygous MTHFR mutations, and by B12 is routinely 1700 to 1900
I’m sorry that you are dealing with this, but I was feeling like I was the only person with B-12 this high. Mine was over 1600. I’m waiting for my doctor to call me back.
Yall look at trying out some lithium orotate. Lithium is needed to transport b12.
I’ve been given B12 injections, 6 weekly for 23 years via my diagnosis from my GP I can’t believe they’ve let my levels so high when it’s just as dangerous to have high levels as it is the low level I presented with. I was told I had pernicious anaemia and would need life long injections. Just shows GPS can make mistakes and now I’m so worried about my levels been so high 😢
If you are getting injections and it is high there is no problem especially if you have pernicious anemia.
I kept taking my supplements except for 12 hrs before my test when I had to fast. I was taking over 1000 ug of methyl B12 and I have been doing this for years. My B12 was over 1400. Now I know why and should have probably stopped them at least 3 days before.
Yes
Hi. Thank you for the info. I began taking b12 shots because of deficiency. However I recently got tested and I have it really high now (2000). How can I flush the excess b12?
I'm guessing it's what causing my palpitations, sweaty hands, insomnia at night.
Just takes time
Educational skills
High B-12 and high platelet count 68 days till first appointment with specialist USC. appointments are very hard to get anywhere in California
I tested b6 a while ago and my levels were incredibly low. She has never seen such a result in 40 years. Which B6 test is reliable and does B6 build up in the body? I've seen some information that it actually can build up. I take p5p.
Just ordered the book. If I have high levels of b12 (573pg/ml) and good levels of folate 15.4ng/ml and I am taking an NMN molecule do I still need to be take something the TMG to help with the methylation of the nicotinamide?
I had oral b12 and tested the same day 600- intentional to see my levels
The following week did an injection tested same day level was 1100…
So I know people are testing when using the supplement and being told their levels are high..
That being said.. I was less than 180
Yep it depends where you are starting from. Thanks for sharing
Happened to me. lab never said to stop taking them before the test. i was taking over 1000ug sublingually.
Level was just over 1400
Hello!
Im a 22 year old female and I got some blood work done yesterday and I got my b12 level at 1,778 right now. I have been taking extra strength b12 supplements (5,000 mcg/tablet) as well as a B complex solution that contains B2, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, and Pantothenic Acid everyday for about a week and a half. All before knowing if I had a deficiency or not. I understand that was a mistake and I should not have started taking anything without asking a doctor. My doctor has not gotten back to me so I consulted doctor google and of course it told me I’m dying of cancer. Could this just be because of the intense supplementation I had the week before my appointment yesterday? I still plan on contacting her again if she doesn’t respond in the next 48 hours but it’s really scaring me.
Yes more than likely it is from your consumption of B12
Is there a way to lower my b12, my diet is basically white meat and carbs, I don’t eat many vegetables or fruits…. I don’t drink a lot of water would that effect my bloods?
Hi doc, quick question. I only take 27.5 mcg of B12 daily and yet my blood work shows an elevated serum B12 of 1100 pg/ml. Would you say my supplement caused this or would something underlying be going on?
One would want to recheck off all b12 supplements
My level is 388 so i am deficient?? In july i have checked my vitamin d3 level which 16mg along d3 i have checked my b12 which is 388 and i have symptoms of mood swings sadness and body pain
Dr... I am 28...my platelet count 4.4, PDW 16.2, P _LCR 10.3, vit d 13.8, vit b12 1157........I am worried... Is this count a problem.. Pls reply
Yes, I was wondering was mines due to inflammation... Because my other levels look normal.
The book goes into this in more detail.
Where do we get your book?

Hi , yesterday I received my bloodwork back. I have a slight elevation in B12. it read 1064 and my doctor said it should be between 250-950. My doctor didn't seem concerned as the rest of my blood work came back completely fine. She did mention that if I am taking a supplement I should just take it every other day. I have been taking B complex for a few months that has 400mcg of b12. I did not take it the day of the test...and before that daily supplement for about three months i took a different B complex that had 250mcg of vitamin B12... I never had low b12 before (I was actually told it was great before) but just assumed we should all take it... Could the supplement with that amount be the reason for the elevation? I am a hypochondriac so google has not helped.
It's the supplement more than likely.

Please tell me what do you eat i have very low b12 Please reply
Hey please help! My child is 6 and his b12 level is 1200!
Hes been having blood tests every 5/6 months to keep an eye on it as it was high last year and then came down slightly and has now gone right back up.
He’s also iron deficient. What could this mean? Should I be worried? I dont know what to do
same with my little boy! he is 5 I am so worried.
Best to follow the advice of your local doctor and or see a hematologist. Some people just have high b12 as a matter of genetics and it is of no consequence.
Could it be pernicious anemia?
Hi Doctor, I really would appreciate some advice. I got the flu around with December which lingered for a few weeks and then straight after got some gatro issues thay are still ongoing, my eyes became sensitive to light but that seems to have resolved. One of my early blood tests after becoming sick showrd a B12 level of 1300 twice the amount of the upper range of 650. I don't take any specific supplements maybe just a general multivitamin, also in the month or so before i got sick, I was eating around a pound of chicken wings every day. Could the inflammation from my viral infections or the eating so much chicken wings be the cause? I've probably done three or four blood tests and all the other markers were normal apart from my Ferratin being high also. Also an abdominal ultrasound showed a mild fatty liver. Please can you advice based on your knowledge. I've really become strict with my diet and I'm due another B12 tests in a couple of weeks. But the anxiety is killing me after reading things like high B12 can be an indication of something like leukemia. Thank you in advance.
What I would tropically advice one of my patients in this situation is… just retest. It could go up slightly for multiple reasons including taking a multivitamin close to the blood draw or inflammation from flu. The fact that ferritin is high suggests some inflammation too. This inflammation can trigger specific white blood cells to make b12 binding proteins leading to more in blood and less in the cell. I hope that helps!
I’m taking 1000 mcg b-12 daily as I was deficient in march. Got a blood test done yesterday to test why I may be getting rays bruising, those came back normal.
I was also taking 325 mg(65 mg) ferrous sulfate for low ferritin every second day. Ferritin level shown back to normal.
Also was taking d3 2000 iu daily, but that’s still low.
Yet my b-12 test showed >1,500!!!
I don’t know if that’s just form the supplement or not? Shall I worry.
I be eating foods rich in all these nutrients, plus was taking those supplements.
Cause like I also feel weird physical symptoms on and off: hot flashes, pimple break outs, heart racing on and off that sometimes gives me a chest ache that radiates to left arm and weird chest pressure sometimes, out of breath sometimes, tiredness, joint aches, head aches, hair loss, unexplained weight loss, dry skin, the easy bruising.
Is it safe for me at all to just stop taking the iron, and b-12 supplement myself all together?!? I won’t get bad withdrawal symptoms or dependency symptoms/complications. And get deficiencies all over again if I’m to just eat foods rich in these all if I’m to quit myself. I told my dr about this on mychart, but she didn’t respond yet. So idk what to do!
I don’t know if starting tomorrow I shall stop taking b-12 and iron. And can I still safely eat foods rich in these?!? If I had these test results?!?
If you are taking b12 it is not something to worry about typically.
I ended up skipping it today out of fear because of what my test result showed. As I don’t know if the test result was inaccurate and it showed that cause I took the b-12 supplement a few hours before left for that test(though I take it first thing in morning), or if that’s a sign of something more serious.
Especially if I’m feeling weird physical symptoms on and off like drowsiness and tiredness. (I mean unless that’s cause I get a heavy female cycle. So now idk if I shall also stop taking my iron supplement since that got to normal levels too cause I don’t want to risk iron intoxication,, or keep taking it especially if get a heavy flow that tires me out.
Hello, how are you doing rigyt know? Any updates? My b12 is too high and my iron is on the lower side. I experiencing a lot of hsir loss🙁
my b12 is back to normal now, still having hair loss and a bunch of other weird symptoms though. 😞@@renatamercelina5859
Have been using b12 1400 mg since 1 year, today tested was high 850 nmol/n. is 1400 mg that high?
Not especially.
Hi dictor I have bad anxiety and watch all your videos and google everything…I used to party a lot and inhale nitrous oxide through balloons aswel as smoke and drink…I paid a clinic for a vitamin drip and b12 and iron injection…my platelet count, red blood cell count, haemocrit coubt are all slightly elevated and don’t know if it’s due to b12 deficiency as I’ve had tingling and cold feet, neurological issues, anxiety bad and laboured breathing…my b12 serum is 1400 and I genuinely have bad digestion as dyspepsia and hiatus hernia….could u actually be deficient in a few things and no intrinsic factor….be great to hear your feedback I’m from London England doctors have no clue here
Yes people with digestive issues often are deficient in more than one thing.
Sounds like u got a lot going on so this may be useful

Ive been trying to find info everywhere. So much is on deficiency but my blood tests said >2000 and I havent taken supplemments for a couple weeks before the test. I looked at my supplements and just between 2 i was get 1600% !!!! Plus its in energy drinks. I never realized gettjng too much b12 could be a problem since its always pushed as the solution to fatigue. Meanwhile it was an iron deficiency making me tired. I also have ankylosing spondylitis so maybe inflammation contriubutes. Idk but I'm stopping all supplements and energy drinks except for my iron. I hope it doesnt take too long to get my b12 down.
keep in mind that high b12 is not an issues for most people if they are taking b12.
Hello Doctor,
Im from Holland and have a question: im a 38 year old male who had an elevated Bilrubine at the beginning of the year its was 69 where 21 is the Max range. My ultrasound didnt show abnomarlities and my alt, asp and ggt where all fine. AST wasnt done because in Europ they cut it off as a standard procedure. My billirubine then dropped to 31 and then increased to 41. All other enzymes stayed Just fine. I even Did a MRI on own costs. It was without contrast liquid but also that didnt show no signs of any forms of hepatology.
My GP send me to an internist for liver, stomach and colon deseases. He said i have Gilbert Desease.
My main concern is that i have cirhossis of the liver that is overseen. I drank alcohol in the weekend for 15 years never was a daily drinker. Do you think that my worries allthough the diagnoses of Gilbert Desasee is an realistic?
Regards from Holland
Gilbert’s syndrome was a a real thing and if u don’t have gallstone it makes sense
@@swintegrative Thank you very much. My GP thought of that at first sight but the ultrasound did rule out gallstones.
Hello. I have been taking a 5000mcg tablet sporadically for the last 4 months after starting a new drug for metabolic syndrome (metformin + dapagliflozin). I received my bloodwork yesterday and the level is 1616. I have been feeling different with a light headache and some dizziness. I am worried. Please give me some advise
The high level is from taking the b12 tablet
What should I do if my B12 levels (no supplements and all other blood values normal) have steadily risen to 6000 from 2000 and then 4000? Doctors keep poking and prodding and scanning (including colonoscopy etc) but they cant tell me why it keeps going up. It's been 3 years now. What do I do?
Do thyriod scan .. my mother had same problem
This is the same problem I have. Fortunately I am not too high yet and the last time I tested I made the mistake of testing the same day which the doctor who ordered the test never explained to me

You're welcome!
I had elevated B12 and stopped supplementing 3 months ago. I noticed a small fissure in the center of my tongue this morning. I've never had that before. My b12 was 2900 back in June taking 5000mcg daily. I think I'm MTHFR as well. Small dose once a week?? Would that be OK or wait? I don't want the fissure to get worse and develop other issues.
Sounds like you feel you still need to take B12. If u want to see your levels normalize then you have to stop. It's hard to say what u should do since I have limited info. Good luck!
Why a book called "Don't be deficient," when the topic is "What To Do If You Have High B12 Levels??" A 1 minute video? Just to sell the book? WHAT DOES ONE EAT AND NOT EAT WHEN b12 LEVELS ARE TOO HIGH???
You may want to take a look at some of the high b12 videos in more detail. High b12 is not a problem in and of itself. It’s what it may be telling you about what is happening in your body (when you don’t take b12). It’s not about the diet to eat to lower it. Although you are welcome to do that animal products have the most b12 btw.
The book details the whole range of issues with b12 both high and low levels and also when your b12 levels are high in your blood but low inside the cell. A big chunk is about high B12 but a bigger chunk is about low B12. Good luck to you 👍
Hello can you tell how much b-12 and b -6 is safe per day? I am currently taking 2000mcg of b -12 and b-6 - 80 mg. Please let me know thank you.
No I can’t because everyone is a bit different. You can use the Rda as a guide on the low end but the top of the range for daily intake can vary a lot and change based on unique health issues.

After taking only 1 tablet b12 is 800
tablet is methylcobalamin 1500mcg ,folic acid 5 mg
And pyridoxine hydrochloride 20 mg
This table
After one tablet next morning I took him for blood test his b12 is 800
How it is possible sir
should I continue tablets he prescribed this tablet daily 2 for 1 week sir please help me 🙏
If he took the b12 close to the test, the b12 tablet raised the level some.

How about when u have low b12 levels and blood work are not a real read out as to having low levels. Low levels are more dangerous then high levels, hence severe neurological defects...FACT!!!
Agreed and thanks for the comment. The book goes into a lot of detail about this as well. It is certainly a much more common issue to have low B12 than high B12. It is also true that the high B12 is not an issue in and of itself. It is simply a sign something MAY be wrong. Whereas, with low B12 there can be long term consequences from the deficiency.
