    I can't get a doctor to take my high levels of b12 seriously. Its been pretty consistent between 1200 to 1400. I don't eat processed food, i am not drinking energy drinks, im not taking vitamins and i don't eat a ton of meat. I have numbness tingling legs arms hands, morning headaches, frequent migraines, pain, exhaustion/fatigue brain fog.

I was told I had pernicious anaemia and would need life long injections. Just shows GPS can make mistakes and now I’m so worried about my levels been so high 😢

    Hello!
    Im a 22 year old female and I got some blood work done yesterday and I got my b12 level at 1,778 right now. I have been taking extra strength b12 supplements (5,000 mcg/tablet) as well as a B complex solution that contains B2, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, and Pantothenic Acid everyday for about a week and a half. All before knowing if I had a deficiency or not. I understand that was a mistake and I should not have started taking anything without asking a doctor. My doctor has not gotten back to me so I consulted doctor google and of course it told me I’m dying of cancer. Could this just be because of the intense supplementation I had the week before my appointment yesterday? I still plan on contacting her again if she doesn’t respond in the next 48 hours but it’s really scaring me.

    Hi , yesterday I received my bloodwork back. I have a slight elevation in B12. it read 1064 and my doctor said it should be between 250-950. My doctor didn't seem concerned as the rest of my blood work came back completely fine. She did mention that if I am taking a supplement I should just take it every other day. I have been taking B complex for a few months that has 400mcg of b12. I did not take it the day of the test...and before that daily supplement for about three months i took a different B complex that had 250mcg of vitamin B12... I never had low b12 before (I was actually told it was great before) but just assumed we should all take it... Could the supplement with that amount be the reason for the elevation? I am a hypochondriac so google has not helped.

    Hi Doctor, I really would appreciate some advice. I got the flu around with December which lingered for a few weeks and then straight after got some gatro issues thay are still ongoing, my eyes became sensitive to light but that seems to have resolved. One of my early blood tests after becoming sick showrd a B12 level of 1300 twice the amount of the upper range of 650. I don't take any specific supplements maybe just a general multivitamin, also in the month or so before i got sick, I was eating around a pound of chicken wings every day. Could the inflammation from my viral infections or the eating so much chicken wings be the cause? I've probably done three or four blood tests and all the other markers were normal apart from my Ferratin being high also. Also an abdominal ultrasound showed a mild fatty liver. Please can you advice based on your knowledge. I've really become strict with my diet and I'm due another B12 tests in a couple of weeks. But the anxiety is killing me after reading things like high B12 can be an indication of something like leukemia. Thank you in advance.

    • @swintegrative
      @swintegrative  Před 4 měsíci +1

      What I would tropically advice one of my patients in this situation is… just retest. It could go up slightly for multiple reasons including taking a multivitamin close to the blood draw or inflammation from flu. The fact that ferritin is high suggests some inflammation too. This inflammation can trigger specific white blood cells to make b12 binding proteins leading to more in blood and less in the cell. I hope that helps!

    I’m taking 1000 mcg b-12 daily as I was deficient in march. Got a blood test done yesterday to test why I may be getting rays bruising, those came back normal.
    I was also taking 325 mg(65 mg) ferrous sulfate for low ferritin every second day. Ferritin level shown back to normal.
    Also was taking d3 2000 iu daily, but that’s still low.
    Yet my b-12 test showed >1,500!!!
    I don’t know if that’s just form the supplement or not? Shall I worry.
    I be eating foods rich in all these nutrients, plus was taking those supplements.
    Cause like I also feel weird physical symptoms on and off: hot flashes, pimple break outs, heart racing on and off that sometimes gives me a chest ache that radiates to left arm and weird chest pressure sometimes, out of breath sometimes, tiredness, joint aches, head aches, hair loss, unexplained weight loss, dry skin, the easy bruising.
    Is it safe for me at all to just stop taking the iron, and b-12 supplement myself all together?!? I won’t get bad withdrawal symptoms or dependency symptoms/complications. And get deficiencies all over again if I’m to just eat foods rich in these all if I’m to quit myself. I told my dr about this on mychart, but she didn’t respond yet. So idk what to do!
    I don’t know if starting tomorrow I shall stop taking b-12 and iron. And can I still safely eat foods rich in these?!? If I had these test results?!?

      I ended up skipping it today out of fear because of what my test result showed. As I don’t know if the test result was inaccurate and it showed that cause I took the b-12 supplement a few hours before left for that test(though I take it first thing in morning), or if that’s a sign of something more serious.
      Especially if I’m feeling weird physical symptoms on and off like drowsiness and tiredness. (I mean unless that’s cause I get a heavy female cycle. So now idk if I shall also stop taking my iron supplement since that got to normal levels too cause I don’t want to risk iron intoxication,, or keep taking it especially if get a heavy flow that tires me out.

      @swintegrative  Před 19 dny

      You may want to take a look at some of the high b12 videos in more detail. High b12 is not a problem in and of itself. It’s what it may be telling you about what is happening in your body (when you don’t take b12). It’s not about the diet to eat to lower it. Although you are welcome to do that animal products have the most b12 btw.
      The book details the whole range of issues with b12 both high and low levels and also when your b12 levels are high in your blood but low inside the cell. A big chunk is about high B12 but a bigger chunk is about low B12. Good luck to you 👍

      Agreed and thanks for the comment. The book goes into a lot of detail about this as well. It is certainly a much more common issue to have low B12 than high B12. It is also true that the high B12 is not an issue in and of itself. It is simply a sign something MAY be wrong. Whereas, with low B12 there can be long term consequences from the deficiency.
