    Cary, it was great seeing you at the show. Thanks so much for putting this together and for sharing your thoughts. For all the folks that are interested in the standard cabinet with coin door, I think you will like what we will be showing in the coming weeks. Thanks again!

      Keep thinking outside the box! TPB is doing things nobody else is or has even considered. Mad props for that and the game looks fantastic. I saw it at TFP 2023 and WOW, what a difference. That said count me in as someone who would rather have the traditional cabinet. Mainly because I see that polycrab top as a liability that will scratch easily and cost way too much to replace. I also like the idea of a coin door and prefer the larger cabinets aesthetic. I can't wait to see you in Houston (if we go, not sure yet) or TFP 2024.

    I know Chris Turner from college. I think he was a computer science or computer engineer degree if I remember right. Back then, he was working for Lockheed Martin and would compete in robotics obstacle course competitions. We also played Halo 2 back then, and he's unbeatable at Mario Kart. He's very, very smart.
    I remember his smart vending machines like 10 years ago and I'm glad to see he's still an entrepreneur.

    Just a clarification…..Cary said the removable glass was “Plexi”. That’s incorrect. “Plexiglass” refers to acrylic (comes from an old tradename for acrylic sheet) and is now used synonymously with acrylic. The plastic that Turner is using is polycarbonate (PC) and it’s a completely different polymer family - has much high impact resistance than acrylic.

    The price made this dead in the water sadly. No way can you justify spending over $9k for this when Alien Ripley edition for under $8k. Turner offered an arcade edition with coin door. So at least he listened.

    I applaud the attempt at innovation. That's what we should all want. 100% agree on the "I'd rather spend the $20 then create another login". It AT LEAST needs a google/apple Pay ability. I'm a little shocked by the price.

    My friend and I went to the Pinball Palace a few days ago and they had just about every Stern machine and even had older ones upgraded for app use, but neither of us used our Stern Insider iPhone app. We just played the machines and enjoyed the games. FYI: they have the fully modded Rudy's Nightmare 2.0 and Whirlwind Total Chaos pins fully restored and polished. I have never seen those in that good of condition. They looked brand new!

    Turner pinball was the only one I asked that you look into while showing us the expo. The first time I saw it online it caught my eye because it was different. Now that I see why it is different I can totally say that there’s nothing wrong with new engineering of cabinets as long as the product can still compete along side “the norm” out there. For home use the smaller cabinet would be fine for me. For a route it would need a coin door and you could offer the app too. I think that app should be a product in itself that all companies that want to have their pins on a route use as long as the pin owner doesn’t get taxed for using it like credit card companies do to small businesses. The theme is different, but who knows till you play it.

    Thx for the video. I do agree but am a a little more cautious (still getting totally roasted on pinside for not hating XD). - -One "no go" for me is the lack of service buttons and reliance on an app for that (that is an additional app and not the payment app). That IS a welcome addition, but only an addition, since noone of us wants to have a "brick" sitting at home when the App is long gone.- (That one has been corrected, there is a fallback option/ no mandatory app.)

    Here in the UK, it’s rare that pinball machines on location take coins. Mostly, you use a stored value card for the whole arcade, which you tap on a device attached to the coin door. Or, alternatively, you have to download a dedicated arcade app. Mostly, I don’t carry cash, so having to change a note to feed actual coins into a slot feels weirdly antiquated.

    I'm honestly impressed with what TPB is doing. I played it at TPF and this version looked nothing like it. What really like. I really REALLY like how TPB is thinking "out-of-the-box" on a lot of ways. They are doing things nobody is doing. From the playfield design, backbox, intranetworking, and plenty more. The game itself looks great. Again it's lightyears ahead of where it was at TPF 2023. What I don't like. The #1 dislike is the polycarbonate "glass". That "glass" isn't going to last, no way. Especially if this is on location. It's going to get scratched all to hell in no time. I like everything else about the glass and realize it won't work with heavy tempered glass. But it's not going to last and how much will it cost to replace? I can replace tempered glass for $50 and when cared for it will last a very long time. I also don't like that there's no coin door. PinApp? Oh no, say it's not so. I see forever feeds to use this, especially as an operator. I do see advantages and plenty of disadvantages. Ugh, and the cost? Yikes... Yes, give me the option to buy it in a traditional cabinet. The higher cost also tells me that that polycarb top is going to be Expensive to replace...

    Wow, the amount of "man, it looks like a kid's toy" comments here shows how stifling to innovation this hobby is. Bros, the cabinets on pinball machines are wasted potential. The massive cabinet that houses the playfield has too much empty space. Even the backbox, without an arcade setting and needing it to attract new players, is mostly an empty cabinet. And then the new Sterns have those stupid briefcase clips on them for the lockdown bar...
    Now, I get it in terms of price. But I love the approach of less hassle maintenance and disassembly. If they could get the cost down to the price of a Pro or lower, then they may have something.

    Good on these guys for innovating pinball. They are open to making the ‘old style’ cabinet if you listen to their Expo presentation. That would take about $1000 off the price I believe. So there some major problems with this, is there a way to service the machine without the app? If not then this game is gonna be worthless when eventually pinaccess is shut down (which will someday happen). The price they want coupled with stupid app requirements make this machine a no-go

    So if this game is on location, I can just reach down and hit the handle to lift the playfield glass? Won't that be bad having customers get into the game? Why do companies tout removability of the playfield and head as a good thing? You shouldnt have to remove the head or the PF on a new game. Maybe if it's 20 years old and you're doing a restoration but that's not gonna happen on this game is it... really? I want my head to stay on the game at all times. When Im transporting the game in a vehicle I wanna fold the head not have to remove it and have 2 large things to act as projectiles in the event of a crash. $9700? LOL Naaaa.

    Differnt = bad in a well established form factor like Pinball (I mean, people still think Multi Morphic looks a bit wierd)... it's gonna take a lot for people to be comfortable with a new form factor.. having said that. Application to play = NO! poor user experiance, cant be spontainously played app may dissappear down the line / need to be updated obsoleting the machine for location play. Also, having used Plexiglass for a few projects... nope... not a good choice...

    • @TurnerPinball
      @TurnerPinball Před 10 měsíci

      Just to clarify, the app is not required to play or maintain the machine. Also, we are not using plexiglass / acrylic, but are instead using polycarbonate. It is a different material that is much more durable. It is the material used in "bullet proof glass".

    Cary, the playfield glass idea is not that great to be honest. Those contacts they use are NOTORIOUSLY unreliable. Like most of the innovations here they have been tried in the past. The frame also gives an optical illusion that the playfield is smaller than it actually is. Most of the innovations are solutions looking for a problem. Some of them might solve inconveniences we bump into sometimes, but not all the time. Such as yeah, I've had to shimmy a game around to get clearance to slide out the glass, but its not a very common issue. So they've come up with these innovations that don't amount to much and very likely add new problems down the road.

    • @MidniteClimax
      @MidniteClimax Před 10 měsíci

      I will say the game shot and played surprisingly well. It could use a little refinement still, but it was a decent game overall. Even in a standard cabinet this is nowhere near a 10k game, absolutely nobody would buy it, but at a proper price without these "innovations" they could possibly carve a small niche in the hobby. Also dump pinaccess, although I doubt that'll happen because it seems like Pinaccess is their endgame goal not actually making good games for people.

  • @DerbyWentToDisney

    Don't understand the whole premise of the machine being able to be taken apart easily as the design/selling point. I'm not in the habit of moving my pin collection OR doing playfield overhauls on a weekly basis. The object is to play them. Not to move or disassemble them daily. $7k is laughable. More like $900. They are doomed. Arcade 1UP 2.0
