    How come your tap water looks off colour in the fermentor? Before you added the extract

    • @SimpleHomeBrew
      @SimpleHomeBrew  Před 4 lety +1

      Sorry I may have missed the step about adding the water to my fermenter using the mostly empty can of extract. The off colour comes from the left over extract that was in the can. Waste not want not. Cheers

    Thanks for all the videos! Very informative! About to put this one down but just wondering how do you find the kit yeast oppose to say the Nottingham Yeast etc?

    • @SimpleHomeBrew
      @SimpleHomeBrew  Před 3 lety +1

      It's good but it is the kit yeast and it doesn't live up to Nottingham in flavouring it just doesn't.

      @@SimpleHomeBrew Thanks for the reply! I've got this brew on now probably about a week away from bottling. I used the Nottingham yeast and added some Cluster Hops to get the flavour along the lines of the Queensland Bitter. Cheers 🍻

    Another good video mate, being a Queenslander I’ve never tried that extract, but I really like the Morgan’s Pacific Pale Ale, brewed that a few times. On a side note how’s the Gigging coming along ? Keen to know who your favourite artists are ? Cheers & keep up the brewing Gav 🍺🍺

      Thanks I recon Morgans Pacific Ale is one of their best kits as for the band stuff I gig almost every weekend and love it now i'm with a great band. I like all kinds of music from Led Zeppelin to the Beatles, ELO and a lot eighties artists like phil Collins and INXS , Cold Chisel. Thanks for asking. Keep brewimg. It's great hobby. Cheers

      As you can imagine Gavin, my gigs have pretty much stopped during this pandemic. I love listening to a lot of different bands. I am going to sound old here but here goes. I Like. ELO, Beatles, Cold Chisel, Eagles, Coldplay, INXS, Pink Floyd, Phil Collins, I don't mind listening to some hard rock when I'm in the mood. What are you into?

    • @gavinbuckett260

      Just put down a NZ Pilsner this morning. My favourite artists are a diverse group like yourself, here goes. Van Halen, Genesis, Def Leppard, any band Sammy Hagar is in, Rush, Journey, Huey Lewis &The News, The Cars. Sad to hear about the drummer from Rush, Neil Peart passing away, in my top 5 drummers of all time.

    Hey mate - how do you rate your extract brews vs the all grain brews?

    • @SimpleHomeBrew
      @SimpleHomeBrew  Před 4 lety +1

      I feel that all grain brew craps all over extract brews big time. Don't get me wrong you can get a great beer from extract brewing but nothing beats all grain.
      What about you what do you think?

    • @abernethybrothersbrewing3838
      @abernethybrothersbrewing3838 Před 4 lety +1

      Simple Home Brew it’s been a long time since I did extract - have done fresh wort kits in more recents years and found some of them have been really good but have focused on all grain as main method

    Hey Pierre, what temperature did you ferment that at? how do you control the temp? TIA

    • @SimpleHomeBrew
      @SimpleHomeBrew  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi I had the fermenter in my house which is around 22 °c for a couple of weeks. I normally sit the fermenter in my fermentation fridge at around 20°c.. Thanks for asking

    I’m just wondering here. Why are you brewing these Morgan’s beer kits and you have a grainfather? I’m intrigued that’s all 😬.

    • @SimpleHomeBrew
      @SimpleHomeBrew  Před 4 lety +1

      Don't worry I'm doing these kits for fun and to learn. I will be doing a brew on the Grainfather very soon. It is definitely not being neglected.

    How come your tap water looks off colour in the fermentor? Before you added the extract

    • @SimpleHomeBrew

      I rinsed out my extract tin as I filled my fermenter. You are seeing the result of that.
