there are ways to speedrun lucilius beyond this but for this guide i wanted to make a strategy that was widely accessible regardless of team comp

A little bit of advice when he Gopherwood arcs there's a Fragmented square against the wall to the back right looks kinda like an L
he'll completely miss you until like the very last dash just dodge it or walk a bit more to the right and there's no threat at all
One small thing to note, on the THE END enrage cast, he actually summons the three swords again. It is only 10% left so he should die soon cuz he is just standing there, but those three swords have claimed many lives that got tunnel vision and did not bother dodging. Watch out for them or get a 100% link attack and kill him

Agreed, this game is designed poorly. Hell, the rewards aren't even upgrades, they're side-grade. Underwhelming for a boss who can piss you off with its Max HP reduction debuffs. (When Celestial Form begins)

I mean yeah.... in monster hunter you don't just stop playing after you kill fatalis... you keep fighting monsters because you want to. Every small upgrade for charms is just min maxing.

Awesome video! Running Lancelot with untouchable and i literally can dodge the entire fight without fof. Hope they add more hard bosses soon
It seem people doesn’t know that during the final rebellion phase where the circle goop chase you, if you overlap the circles with the circle that chase your teamates, when they explode they destroy each other (not leaving behind the goop) leaving you with more room to run around free of the goop.
In my attempts, Yodarha is one of the BEST characters to use for Lucilius. Good DPS, Mirror Image to the entire party, AND a move that makes him INVINCIBLE during its long duration while ALSO being a good distance closer AND being one of his most damaging moves. Add his easy to pull off Triangle (Y or RMB) counter and he's definitely a good pick.
His parry counter is not easy to pull off especially for multi instances incoming attack, I think you have to dodge even after perfect parry
@omnilothar with mirror image, it's safe, and practically free to attempt and continue the damage. If you have perpetual rotation (I forgot the name of the move, it's the one that refreshes cooldowns if you have max shrouds) you are practically invincible, ESPECIALLY if you have good teammates.
Parry into perfect dodge get invincible that’s it
@@arttizkappa2588 You get a bit of damage from parry invincibility +the safety of the perfect dodge during the aoe move if you need it. That's only if the aoe lasts longer than invincibility from counter.
For melee players, I highly recommend learning the timing on perfect dodging the red AoE centered on Lucilius (the chariot mentioned in the video at 9:40). It gives you amazing uptime because you can also ignore the red AoE puddles he drops after he does the chariot attack.
Yeah, with Zeta you do not want to be in the air looping during bubbles from above or when he starts glowing red, you will die.
It's hard to use Zeta against him 😢

I play this fight as Vane with my Rampart ability and last night i was online. Had 3 random Lancelots in my party and it was the funniest thing just me saving myself with my bubble and them only joining it when they got tired of tapping 😂.
Bro Vane is a LIFE SAVER for my hands as a Lancelot main. I know I can give it a rest for a few seconds with Rampart. 🤣🤣🤣
Was doing something similar with a friend but my bots will just chain the SBA's.

As a vaseraga player, and I'm sure other characters can do this, but I learned when he does the pull in attack pretty well so I just start charging then release for the I frames

As a Ferry main I kinda realise that her ca bar is decent when you casted Umlauf while doing aerial barrage but ya it become meh with just aerial barrage.

The red multi cut has a red flashing “✨” Once you see that just dodge right after.
Yodarha is actually pretty good if you time your triangle/Y right especially when lucilius uses his red sword attacks and when he drops the orbs and having hymm of the hundreds and flashing void was really good against paradise lost if you suck at dodging, i only lost twice as playing yodarha and right now its pretty much easy now i have 2 alpha sigil thats lvl 14 and 2 gamma thats lvl 12 my luck on getting the tears is really low😭
you didn't mention during the aoe slow for Celestial if 2-3 people have the aoes close enough, and dodge at the correct timing that entire space won't have a slow on it.
It's still wild to me that they got away with such a huge Jojo reference with this guy.
I'd like to add that doing 4x SBA chain has merit (and my preferred method). Doing a 4 burst gives you 100% Link Gauge (in this fight only, probably because of Sandalphon). I'm a fan of using Link Time often to push phases and beat his enrage.
a 4 burst gives you 100% link gauge in every fight. in fact, a singular sba always adds to the link gauge, 4 just fills it to 100 every time

The one best strat I find is probably the 1:1:1:1 SBA with SBA gain abilities like Nimble Onslaught. This strat basically skips all cutscenes except for the first overdrive especially if everyone capped 2 Alpha sigils. After the 4th single SBA, the 1st player basically gets it back.
Though the word "speedrun" isn't quite speedrun in this strat LOL since you have to watch at least 20 SBAs. This strat is good for the last achievement where you cannot use any items.

@@johncreed7436only one I know you can’t block is if you fail to stop him from unleashing his power when he has a meter filling up, the one that cuts your HP down. Other than that, I’ve been able to stop everything else

Thats it easy, you basically wont die and keep the damage high.
If you can add Glass Canon would be even great but side effects could be fatal if you dont have another Poten Greens around to avoid Dizzy status, if you are great dodging then use it without fear)
my only wins from this fight is by using infinite dodge Lancelot to dodge everything and then unga bunga him with a team of Id, Rackam and Katalina but she can be replace with Siegfried for myself. I love just perfect dodging everything he has to throw at me :3
Save your sba till after you are forced to use it. Then whenever he is about to use paradise lost hit him with a sba to cancel it
don't understand why you would skip gopherwood ark, it's significantly easier to dodge then any other of his moves
I run a high stun Vane, and I just cancel all of his paradise lost (not counting the 85% 4 link required, obviously)
after the first Paradise Lost getting cancelled my comp usually just Link Time him > Full Burst (this should refill most if not all the Link Energy) > final rebellion 1 > then once he comes out of that we either link time him again right away, or wait for him to attempt paradise lost and just link attack him into Link Time and I've had teams push him so hard from this down to the end
and in once case we almost skipped Final Rebellion 2, Gopherwood and The End, getting him down to 3%
getting two Link Times with a strong team is usually enough to blast the boss
still doesn't shorten the annoyingly long midfight cutscenes
also Sandelphon just literally fucks off after the 85% paradise lost and does nothing else for the rest of the fight. Thanks "buddy"
I cannot finish this fight online, for each cutscene mid fight, theres a chance the connection falls, and the boss stays locked at overdrive state. The rest of my chars are not geared enough. So frustating.
If you want to cheese it just use Lancelot tbh. Did it with A.I no problem. Except it's not fast for me cuz my DPS isn't optimal. Took about 18 mins per run.
Friends told me I needed to play a different character then Vane. Just in case. I was like na, Vane is best boy.

You can't 17:58
There is a communication wheel function that lets you tell AI hold or auto SBA
If you use controller then it should be select and right stick up
You simply just toggle it auto for one SBA then immediately toggle it Hold
Don't forget to Turn off Override Hold for chain burst option
@@shinnleammle8416 u didnt get the question… the point is to do a sba right after if finishes and the stun but with cpu u cant cuz they dont do it unless everyone can so u have to w8 for that char to go around 70% its just a waste offline… better chain it all…

Katalina's biggest issue in this fight is that you are guarenteed to lose Ares basically every single pact strike bc you WILL be skill sealed by the orbs if you dont dodge which means you cant chain additional pact strikes, and if you do dodge obviously you lose ares anyways. He fires these orbs fucking constantly so even at infinite hp -100% damage taken you still just cant play Katalina
I play rackam with glass cannon, less is more, enmity, collat damage, duration and provoke and stand as far away from boss as possible and use collat damage to reduce hp to 1 + duration to speed away when he comes at me with the swords (and try to hit as many mines as I can with duration), just to make it as hard as possible not just for me but for everyone else XD
I'mma just TLDR the whole video and make it even simpler for people.
Run 2 Vanes and use double bubbles to basically circumvent ALL of the wipe out mechanics he has to offer and laugh. It's that simple

Kinda crazy to me that katalina still can dodge or block while Aeres is out. I thought it was a bug but they didn't touch it so that makes me think it was intentional?
I think she can only keep Ares and dodge while under the effects of Azure sword
because she cant dodge or block with Ares out unless you have Azure Sword skill so i have no idea where you heard it was a bug
Can this fight be done with base 11/15 non+ sigils and no terminus? Only asking cause I really do want to clear but I've had zero luck getting sigils worth a damn, I've 43 clears of Proto with 0 terminus drops and Dragon's Dogma 2 drops in 3 days, which is going to take up my life for the next 2-3 months and I want to clear this fight at least once before that happens.
I imagine that if it could, calling it an uphill battle would be an understatement. You could have a strong 3-man carry you while you dump into utility just to survive. Having them cover the DPS gap shouldn't be too hard depending on character selection and aggression. At the cost of ruining immersion however, I'd recommend getting a quick run down of his mechanics/minigames. Not always true but it can be very telling of the reeult when there's a guy who gets downed on the initial Paradise Lost phase 2 times before the fight even really begins.
We had a full squad of friends one of them was like this one of my friends brought vain and I brought Kat so he would invul paradise and I would invul on mines and big spirit bomb and we cleared now we just gotta farm him now :))
@@milliardo188 I'm currently working on gearing Vane in prep for this fight. I'm a Captain main but Vane being able to no sell several mechanics is extremely appealing to me for this fight.
Trying to get all his weapons up to 150 and finish up his masteries. it's tough being on a time limit.
@michaelcampbell1170 yea vain is REALLY nice to have in this fight not having to deal with Paradise is a game changer. I hope everything goes well with your farm (although I do like the enthusiasm, remember he isn't going anywhere, so there's no rush. ( I know crystal farming can be draining)
@@milliardo188 Oh I know, worse comes to worse, I'll throw the Eternals at Lucillius once I've had all my fun in DD2. Hell, I'd be happy if Bahamut would just give me a terminus weapon or if I could find a few rainbow slimes to get me some ingots so I could finish upgrading everyone's weapons.

try joining a session instead or hosting one with target set to lucilius. works everytime and people are willing to repeat the quest alot.
You can clear the Lucilius fight with any character in the game, EXCEPT with Ghandagoza. Unless you're getting carried by the other 3 in your party.
I’ve cleared with ghandagoza multiple times already.. don’t need to be carried just need teammates that aren’t dying repeatedly and draining the critical gauge. Which applies to clearing with any character

I know people have said this fight is easier with AI cuz they can perfect dodge, but this fight makes doing so miserable. They can never clear the 12 labors in time. I've also had multiple instances where all 3 of my teammates have full sba at Paradise Lost and I'm at 60 cuz I used mine to stop his last one but they still hold it for some reason. I've had much more success playing online now that people have learned how to deal with this fight.
Easy fix for kat, let ares stay up after a dodge or block. They practically killed the character with the “fix”
Ngl.. I've legit be afking this fight with lance, yodarha, narmaya and Cali. It takes a bit longer but I fr chill while doing something else (scummy yes I know) lol

I main Zeta, Kat and Ferry... Ferry got exorcised in this patch and the other two are not that great in this fight. I can't remember the last time I got such an L in a single patch of a game

I 1st tried Lucilius on 1 HP most the fight doing this cheese ass strat and my A.I. all using sub optimal ass sigils too. Lancelot too good. Lol
Good luck doing those skips with randoms online. Still didn't finish it after a week due to most people dying like flies.
Good thing I made this guide for randoms to pick up the strats and learn dodges :^)

Farming with a pre-made? How about an AI guide or best three team mates? I have no pre-made group and online players die phase 1.
my hope is that this will be adopted for public matchmaking the way the 2 SBA chain thing was adopted for Proto-bahamut.
with that said, a lot of the strats for this fight work with AI except the staggering SBAs Sadge
if you want best AI teammates, Zeta, Eugen, and Narmaya/Io/Rosetta are actually good for this fight
You can have full control of your AI team mate SBA
Toggle off Override hold SBA fo chain burst
And set SBA activation to Immediately
Then at battle simply toggle it auto to let AI use SBA then toggle it hold after 1 char used it using communication wheel , if you use controller it is hold select button and right stick up

AI can cheese, you can easily turn on and off there SBA usage while it's set to automatic. You just hit the emote screen and square to toggle SBA usage on or off. It takes like 3/4 of a second to do it.
Too bad you lose uplift, cooldown and cascade to use new sigils. Rip

Katalina is actually good in this fight, at least for me. I clear this raid with her almost consistently (unless teammates decides to fuck around)
party wide invincibility + some quick cooldown/cascade management can get her damage so fast that the little window of able to destroy his HP bar without care would make you skip towards the mechanic triggers.
