  • There are several ways to get a better stateroom after you have booked. I’ll explain the wait list option as well as the move up program.

I would try the wait list but not the move up (bid) process for a two reasons. (A) With the wait list, you get the points for the upgraded room. But with the move-up program you get the points for your original room even if you pay as much or more than you would have if you booked the upgraded room originally. (B) With the wait list I can reject the offer but not with the move up program. Why is that important? Because I'm very particular about the cabin. I make sure the sitting area is the veranda, not by the bathroom. I make sure it will be quiet enough to sleep by picking a cabin that has cabins on all sides (up, down, left, right) and by making sure there are cabins across the hall so it is away from noisy crew stairs and areas. You might get lucky with the move up program. But I think there's a better chance that you would get a cabin that, for good reasons, no one else wanted.

If the move up bid price is per person, what do solo sailors pay? Double?

We weren’t sure, but according to the Celebrity website, a solo traveler would have to pay double. 😕

Please LMK what excursions you did on your Alaska cruise. Traveling on the Apex in July. Totally clueless. TYIA

We have it on our list to make a video about excursions in Alaska. We will do one this week. We have found several great companies that are wonderful for everyone, including wheelchair users. Stay tuned!

Are the staterooms you bid on forward?

I called celebrity tonight and the representative told me if your offer is rejected they keep the amount you bid, is this correct? It sounded inaccurate.

No, that is incorrect. If your bid is accepted your credit card is charged right away and you are upgraded to the new room. If your bid is rejected there is no charge and you stay in your original room. Sorry they gave you the wrong information.
