Very nice to hear that I have inspired you in some way! Mandolin will for sure be easier for you than for someone with no musical background. Often times though when I see a guitar player pick up a mandolin, they don't approach it with proper technique. Guitar technique is similar, but has to be modified to get the best tone and facility on the mandolin. Honestly, regarding other styles, I play pretty much any music I hear and like on mandolin. The acoustic mandolin sonically won't be as successful competing with the volume and tambour of loud amplified instruments and drums, but you can play any style in an acoustic version. I started as a young kid and fell in love with the instrument and it's tone. So for me, I have a different type of pursuit going on with a deep respect for the instrument. Cheers!

@@isaaceichermandolin Hey Mr Eicher appreciate the feed back . Uhm that’s fine I would love to get this instrument and make music on it no matter what . I like the sound of it as well . I think it great for song writing and personal musical phrasing . I play predominantly in churches , with that said I wouldn’t expect to play mandolin there but I will if ever I get one and learn to play half as good as you lol . I do like jazz and gospel and blues. I notice jazz is great , classical , bluegrass and country folklore for mandolin . But I don’t see too many on gospel ( contemporary gospel style ) or RnB / neo soul style . But I do hear these styles in your solos because I hear hammer ons, double stops , etc when you play virtuoso style . which is cool . I have notice that the approach is different like you mentioned . So what mandolin would you prefer for beginners and what book or teaching aid you would suggest for newbies ?

The mandolin is incredibly versatile ! If you can think it, your mandolin can play it .
