- This is the journey of seven elephants across the country to their new home at Elephant Nature Park. Thanks to all who joined with the Trunks Up campaign and contributed toward their freedom. Thanks to team Khun Meaw Warattada Pattarodom and friends who helped to free elephant Hom Nuan, one of the seven. When many hands join together, not only can we accomplish great things, but also share in the joy of elephant's Trunks Up Forever.

Actually, what's horrible is it's a scamdemic. There is no virus. It's exosomes produced by the body's own detoxification processes. Poachers hunt them with wire snare's and the government doesn't want them there and won't came up with any money for rescue.

@Frankie horrific is right the poacher's trap baby elephant's and there beaten to obey and sold to the trekking camps the trekking camps buy the babies cheap they are scum as the baby elephant's don't all survive the breaking and then the year's of work if they do the government politician's take bribes so the trekking camps aren't made illegal the foolish people say return them to the wild is giving poacher's a way to make money the camp's are the problem till there shut down elephant's are always in danger there's a trekking camp across the river from ENP there elephant's try to escape to ENP some have made it to freedom but are returned to there cruel owners who put even more chains on them they want to escape so badly but get no help when they do.
What a major effort to keep the elephants calm, provide for them and keep their stress level down. Great job!

Agree. And when they had to call the former mahut(?) to calm the two who were anxious at the start of the journey that tells you more about this man. I don't think that eles should be ridden but sadly they still. There are caring owners even if you disagree with the concept. He did the right thing.

It is GOOD that they released these elephants into Lek's care, but wielders of bullhooks, chains and other implements of torture, who will force the calf seen in this video at 1:21 through the deadly and brutal Phajaan/Crush/Torture Training, are Not good people. We are thankful these 7 elephants are now in Lek's care, but we mustn't elevate abusers and torturers to that of "good person."
The best part about this was watching the chains come off. Knowing that they will be free and not have anyone ridding on their backs.

People with money do donate, the pool the Elle's cooled off in was donated and payed
for by a woman supporter it was needed for the dry season when it's always in the 90s and no rain ,the government could help with land donation but in Asia they want a bribe elephants being mistreated is not something they care about.
I always say if I ever won a bunch of money, places like this and DSWT would receive huge donations. Same with places like Takis' dog shelter over in Greece. All of these organizations need help and they deserve it for what they do.

You can't buy Elephants, land or food for the elephants with a statue or medal. Financial help by the goverments for the elephant owners so that they can stop the riding business and tgey can buy land to set their elephants free so tgat tourists can observe them in their natural habitat abd serve them instead of being on their back. No medal and no statue but recognition by the Thai goverment, that is the highest honour for all work Lek, Derrick and all vollunteers at ENP do.

@@LindaEll89 this is Asia remember, the trekking camp's bribe the politician's that's why there not outlawed just land is not freedom it's easier for poacher's to trap them and the farmer's of surrounding land kill the elephant's if they try to eat there crop's in this age there's no simple answer crooked politicians will not buy land without a bribe ,logging co. are after the land to to rescue more elephant's ENP needs more land but need's tourist money and that's not possible now and don't even think the government will help with money for land there in business to extort money so that's no option I'm sure you mean well but in real life your solutions are not possible the government from high to low is on the take bribery is the norm I've lived there and paid off a few it's always expected if elephant's suffer politician's don't care they want there payoff so all the easy answer to the problem people are no real help with the if they just do this everything will be great , corruption is hard to beat so if you have and answer to that then you can talk about government money or setting all the elephant's free to roam free and happy.

They look very happy swimming. The elephants liked the owner and were comforted by his presence during the trip
He kept them 'healthy' enough to keep exploiting them. They were a valuable asset, nothing more.

Gotta say, the elephants look in immaculate conditions, well fed. We may not agree with making money off animals, but the guy looked like he took care of there every need. Kudos to him. I hope he manages to earn money and survive this pandemic.
You are correct. Those elephants were in beautiful condition. That he parted with them when he knew he could no longer afford them says a lot for how he cared for their future too.
And his presence calmed down the nervous elephants. Says a lot about their bond.
We shouldn't judge about humans making money off animals! There are people who sell rides on horses and ponies. These animals aren't used to having humans ride on their backs so they are broken in just like how the elephants are broken in to let humans ride on their backs. Who are we to judge?

We are hypocrites ourselves when we judge the Thais for exploiting elephants when people in other countries, including our own, also exploit animals! I was never condoning the ownership and cruelty of elephants, in fact, all ownership of elephants should be banned and punishable by jail! Not only should we ban elephant riding, but we should also ban the riding of other animals such as horses and ponies! These animals also go through the cruel breaking-in process for them to submit to humans riding on their backs. Our ancestors needed to ride horses as a form of transportation but in today's world, an ATV (all-terrain vehicle) could do the same thing a horse can!

These beautiful creatures of nature have been looked after even though working . Due to COVID they are now really being looked after. Sad news for the rest that are still being poached xx
So intelligent, such strong family bonds, critical to the environment as they forage and provide for new growth and sustenance for many in these complex ecological systems humans depend upon for life and are often ignorant of. Those who care for these elephants weight the world towards good.

Elephant's aren't the only animal's rescued , dog's hundreds of them, cat's ,cow's, Buffalo's, bird's , duck's, geese, horse's, any animal in need is taken in and given housing, medical care ,feed, and all the help adopts a dog and is raised as part of the family they go with the elephant's every morning and the elephant's accept them as family.
