- Today I revisited the pay-to-win minecraft servers we duped on, to analyse and see if we actually did any damage to them, and see if they are doing better or worse months later...

Bruh I already play on that w sever
I might check it out later since I’ve been super bored
can you dupe on donutsmp?
Rather depressing to see that some of these servers have not only recovered but also grown. It is honestly quite painful to see Purple Prison still spamming themselves everywhere.
fr, I played on purple prison when I was little because they advertised themselves everywhere to be the best server ever
I think, dupe makes worsen situation by making servers more known for casual public.
I swear when I search for any category of minecraft server purple prison will always show up despite not being any of what I searched up
@@mrshhh_2002 fr
Rather good, you meant. Those admins have families to feed, you inconsiderate prick.
Mojang when servers have guns: 😭😡
Mojang when a gigantic server encourages underage gambling: 😴
Microsoft and Mojang
What you’re forgetting is that mojang is owned by Microsoft, I wouldn’t be too surprised if mojang doesn’t have much control over that
@@zoompipes_twin2889 i would agree with u
The thing is, everything now days encourages kids to gamble. Go toy shopping nearly every toy has some sort of mystery or surprise aspect to it.
That's every community managers ever
Regarding Microsofts stance on gambling.
A server I play on was recently forced to remove the /lotto command (a lottery using in game money). Yet the SAME Microsoft Employee had no problem with the crates on the server.
Pick a lane Microsoft.
Lotteries are illegal in many places, (EU/AUS/NZ) and if Microsoft wants to keep having services there, they must abide by the laws. Whereas the crates do not technically fall under these laws.
It's slightly unclear, but from my experience, it seems that if you replicate casino like games at all then it's against their commerical usage guidelines, but elements like loot-boxes and crates are fine
So they dare to ban you from minecraft if you are "offensive", griefing, have a skin they don't like or simply not "0+ fetus friendly" player, but they are completely fine with gambling and P2W?
Well, I guess for microshit this is very much "kid friendly"
@@TheMisterEpic It's not gambling if it's in a shulker box that says LEMON KEY CRATE.
@@thebombplayer2986 but.. lotteries and gambiling are a massive industry in Australia and New Zealand.. check up Gold Lotto and Lotto NZ
Makes a lot of sense that the dupes don't do much long term damage; it's not about money, it's about sending a message.
Honestly the thing that most surprised me was that that one Twitter user who liked literally every tweet containing "Minecraft" was actually the one who founded MelonSMP, I got taken back seeing that name and profile picc
What message? The servers will run as always, isn't like the dupper made a real damage. The owners won't think "maybe we went too far", so it's uselles at best.
Because they are badly made...
Instead of calmly burying copied items in various places for two or three months and then announcing to everyone that there had been regular sessions of copying the best items on the server for the past two months which would have to result in a two-month rollback, which no community would agree to, youtubers copy items, make drama and the admin quickly patches the bug, fires up the backup from a few hours ago and the problem is solved. The community shouts that they lost a few hours of game play, the youtuber has a video and the server as you can see continues to work.
The fact that people can spend over 1000 on a video game is beyond crazy
@@Strelac1337 Money laundering doesn't seem like a wise, people have gotten themselves marked by death from mob bosses before by not providing the repayment.
roblox
I wish I had that kind of money. I'd spend it on way better things than whaling for p2w Minecraft servers 😢
guess you've never heard of world of warships
@@Im-BAD-at-satire Thats not money laundering, but getting money from a loan shark
Lets say someone gets money and no one tells the gov(untaxed income) - he finds a bank accepting it without question - to get it without raising suspicion, he lets other people pay for his stuff(a lot and overpriced)
Thats money laundering
As a OG player of Purple Prison I have some information
1. The server is dying the number of people is going down. There is a lot of people but they are all afk with the /afk
2. They finally removed the thing that was saying huge sell -90% on everything.
3. To talk about the p2w aspect. There is 2 type of player. 1. The player that his just axe pvping by buying thing on the store wont help when you axe pvp if your not good at axe pvp it wont make you better. The other type of player is the player that is just getting stacked in item and money but some of these players they are buying in the store to get more money. Like the player called luvrainex that bought 400 create for $2400.
4. Some of the mod are corrupt sometimes in the ffa /ffa the mod are helping some player.
5. The mod are banning the wrong player. When someone is cheating and we can clearly see it they wont ban the player. But when you are just good at pvp your getting banned. Like today they banned 2 people that was not hacking me included. Yes I got banned because they think am auto click but am just doing 9 cps and the real cheating people that are hitting us at 5 block are not getting banned.
6. The MOD are just toxic people that dont care a single piece of the player. And the mod wont be punished because they are all friend with the owner.
The server is dying so it would be a good time if you want to attack it. So pls can back and dupe on it and finish it they also added a new command /gw and am sure there is a dupe glitch in that. if you need a hand let me know.
If you want to destroy these servers you have to distribute stuff over a longer period of time and not just drop everything in 5 minutes.
If any of the first few people report it, then it’s over. They drop so much so quick so it gets rollbacked instead of staff taking it out of a few people’s inventories
@@BlueyyMCjust leave them in chests/furnaces/minecart
Hide them so they would be discovered on a longer timespan
This is something i always thought of. Impresses me how they can do all of this stuff but not think of this once
@@BlueyyMCyou could easily keep stashes hidden around the map, come back on alts and slowly take the items from the stash and distribute them
That would be too much work for them
The problem with your duping is that it is a temporary solution especially since you only did it for a short time which can be solved by doing a rollback. Imagine if you duped then waited for 2 weeks or so before distributing it, or even slowly crashing the economy by selling the keys little at a time. Just providing possible reason why they failed.
Also, your videos make them more popular due to exposure. Though, these exposure also raises awareness that can prevent others from falling for these scams.
Anyway, kudos to you guys for making an effort in preventing p2w servers from exploiting others.
Like an underground activity like mafia
Bro knows how to crash an economy💀
Hopefully a dedicated group of players 🌚 can dupe on Donut SMP again
me and my friends are trying to take it over so if u know any dupe glitches lmk!
@@thskosmicx. many ppl are trying although i designed a 1 tick expendable lag machine to get donutsmp
inspiration? cubicmetre's infinibore
@@thskosmicx. it works by dispensing 100000 tnt at once and forcing them to take fall damage then retract the blocks and they will take fall dmg again so it will crash in 1 tick due to the tnt and it will last for 80 ticks (although since the game is slowed down it will last a couple minutes) before finally exploding a shit ton of slime blocks (low blast resistance) and launching a bunch of sand outwards. this will cause about 10 minutes of lag,
@@thskosmicx. donutsmp got a chunk thing so im trying to find a way to use tnt to launch more tnt outwards considering that the infinibore works up to 100000 blocks it should cause significant lag but also requires about 250000 tnt

I really like it when P2W servers are duped on, Although it doesn't change much. It sends a message.
One must imagine Sisyphus duping in P2W servers
I think gambling with crates on servers is fine as long as the only way you can get the ‘keys’ is by completing in game quests, or doing stuff in game without spending any real money
next time you should try duping and hiding the duped items on random places near spawn, so the mods wont notice and if they try to rollback they would be forced to do a day/week rollback, then you can do real damage
you know that this way a cheater could easily steal them right?
@@pixelcreators4425I think hiding chests below lava pools is still working to avoid xray users' attention
also I think they can store shulkers of duped items in their ender chest
@@pixelcreators4425 That's actually a win as long as they've hidden enough drops. It's quiet distribution which could be enough to cause persistent economic damage.
@@cris_sadnah, there are clients that literally highlight inventory blocks - chests/barrels/dispensers etc
Yeah I think they should commit to actually damaging a server. Hide insane quantities of items in multiple stashes across the world, and then wait months or years. If some get found it will slowly erode the economy, but after enough time has passed you can get online and use any stashes that survived the long hiatus to trash the economy, then wait for a rollback of a week or however long and do it again.
As long as they don’t figure out where all the stashes are you can keep messing up the economy forever, hopefully causing a reset of the survival area (or a rollback of literal years lol) both of which could actually kill a server.
yes I have wondered what happed after you guys duped on those servers
Well, I don’t really know what you’d expect. Duping only really changes things for a week, and giving attention from a CZcams video is just more fuel to the fire
Yeah, that's the thing. They mean well, but by giving the servers attention, it means that people will find out about them and maybe play on them. The antiP2W is a double edged sword where it exposes the servers and creates awareness, but it also tells people that those servers exist at all and might inadvertently bring in more players. I just wish there was a better way to do it.
It's actually cool that Zedar(?) still has the wall thing setup, small easter egg to the duping
You should interview the biggest donors on these servers
I know what the video's title gonna be - "Today I talked to the dumbest people on the planet"
to make the damage permanent, you can simply just dupe a lot of items, and come back after a few months, then distribute. rollbacking several months would probably immediately kill half of the playerbase due to all their hard work being gone
man this is one hell of a dilema before we had to pay people to be kept in prison and now they pay us to keep them inside the prison thats one hell of a change
I think it’d be wise to dupe in moderation and slowly ruin the economy over time. Then rolling back would result in a huge loss of builds, and everything people cared for. It’d truly hit a server hard
@@TorchCTI Alright thanks for that info. I wasn’t aware of these plugins and wish I had them when I ran my Minecraft server, since some people found a dupe vulnerability and went to town.
p2w server videos are always fun to watch
I love all the AVO references in your videos, really gives me those early 2010 flashbacks to minecraft griefing
Oh no its a filler episode 😭
7:40 🎉🎉🎉
Let’s gooo!!!
I wonder if doing this consistently could cause some actual damage, yet that would be very time consuming
The problem is finding dupes
@@moofurg I didn’t think about that, cus every time you would need a new type and it would take dozens of dupes to cause harm
almost every server does backups every few hours, you cant do actual damage unless you get on a dupe for hours all over again after they roll back to the old save
Some dupe strats revolve around during a fuck ton, hiding the items for weeks or months, and then distributing them. Even if they backup it won't get rid of the items
I love how you always upload at midnight for me
I dont think theres any excuse for pay to win mechanics. They could easily go down the wynncraft route and make their loot boxes only contain cosmetic items, but that actually takes effort
Minecraft when servers have guns: we will ban you.
Minecraft when servers are p2w: nothing ro see here.
It is sad to see that minecraft is focussing more on unneccesairy things than preventing people from being scammed.
czcams.com/users/shortsrS671pFiKA0?si=W4RNX8PSWsw_JMUj
My theory is that they're getting a kickback, like those P2W Bedrock servers they promote.
Now imagine the kind of damage people could do to these servers if something like Bedrock exploits were capable of occurring in java (ya know the minecart + command block thing) I don't think it'd be as simple as a roll-back to fix someone deciding to nuke a server w/ something like that.
Why shouldn't a rollback be possible)
How do I do this
Hollow Knight OST makes the video so much better. Good job, MisterEpic! Even though most of the servers didn't change after you duped, you did a very good job!
i smiled as soon as the ost started playin
3:57 "Stop ruining kids fun" They say while silently introducing those same kids to a future gambling addiction
Snapcraft isn't bad these days. I think SalC1 did an entire series on it. They still have crate keys etc, but you can get those through voting, playtime rewards etc, so you don't have to buy the keys. Only money I've spent on there was to by the VIP rank so I could Silk Touch my spawners to move them, and I didn't even need to do that as a day later I got a voucher from my daily vote keys which won me a voucher for the power to silk touch spawners lol.
“Well known smp” I have never head of this outside of your channel
I feel like lagging out a server is much better, less of a hassle then dupes, just as much panic from the more trying to figure out what the heck just happens to their server
I remember the good ol days when you would spend diamonds on some redstone/command block machine to gamble. God I miss those days
TheMisterEpic uploading again right before I'm going to sleep
Hi I love your videos I watch every new video you upload and im subbed. keep up with the good videos.
nice work epic, cant wait to see what you do next in the duping series ;D
*when you get banned on 10 accounts due to an IP/Constant ban*
@@NotDIY??? Fym "Constant" ban
lol I just realized I used to play your server originally after being the first server I kind of chose at random when I first downloaded tlauncher... Pretty funny and crazy to see just how much it changed.
Even if you're not gonna defeat the problem, the best we can do for anyone is make them aware of it. So I support the honest ambition.
i wish all the servers that are p2w just shut down or thier player base just leaves them
i wonder if the new eula enforcement will burn these ptw servers
new?
Atleast here in Germany we already have that for years
sounds like time for round 2/3 for some of these!
yup
Doing damage to servers-> dupe, wait a week, distribute through accounts, wait a month, everyweek distrubute some throughout the server
Unlikely to work, once you have been caught once, your dupe stash and duped items are as good as gone
Duping is not enough. We need to see genuinely server-destroying exploits and attacks being used against these servers. Lags, crashes, destruction, etc.
Was actually cool having you guys dupe on fantasy🤣
Melon smp is actually shutting down next weekend, so somewhat there was an impact 😂
I think you guys should try hiding stuff over a longer period of time
Finally got to see a video right after it's upload
"ruining kids fun" more like saving parents bank accounts from going broke 😭😭
i was wondering why a little bit ago why a server i had played on had changed so drastically... (for the better) the community of the server patched the holes of the p2w nature before that. they were nice.
I found and used a donutsmp dupe for ages but was banned after it was discovered. Basically you could sell an item on the /ah for a negative value, then buy it on an alt and gain money instead of loosing it.
The only thing that would make those servers change their ways would be constant duping and crashing. If you literally can't run the server then there's no money to be made. But of course keep finding new exploits as they patch them is just not effective at all. Not to mention all the accounts getting banned.
“Learn what p2w is and stop ruining kids fun” got me laughing hard 😂
9:05 Video clip from Team AVO on ChaosCraft. Good vid!
1:34 OMG THE BROTHER OF DOGSTEVE, DOGSTOVE!!!!
ive waited for this for a while
Well you say you can’t do long term damage, I say there’s always a way (a legal way) just takes some thinking a hard work, I don’t think there’s a P2W server out there that you can’t crash, keep up the good work.
I would love to send a notice to Microsoft on Twitter or something asking why they encourage underage gambling. Then when they say they don't, respond with lists of screenshots of the different servers shops showing the crate spinners and flashy effects, explaining that these servers are using roulette wheels to decide an item to give to players which you pay for spins of to receive unobtainable items and flashy cosmetics. See how long they can ignore it when it starts getting spammed at them
You saved my day, comrade. Thanks.
Out of curiosity, is there a way to add crates to a server, but make the keys 100% earnable, and not paid for? Maybe even a craftable item with rare items you can get through actual play. I want to do a small very modded minecraft server mostly for members of the discord for a species I own and a few friends, and crates look like they could be a ton of fun, if they are earnable through game-play. I don't wanna make money with a server, but I do want to have a lot of fun with friends with a server and add lots of fun goals to work towards. One of the ideas that I had was maybe find a way to tie the Identity mod in with a crate you earn, and that could be a way to earn new forms as you find keys in the world. There's a mod that can refresh loot in chests, and I might see if there's a way to randomly hide chests throughout the world (Refreshing) so that there's always more to do... though I need a coder for that and that's hard to find. xD
(Also considering Origins as well with lots of different origins to play as)
I don't want it to even really be a public server, just a small server for a bunch of buddies with a few fun functions.
MisterEpic great banger video once more and btw the youtuber SB737 has a minecraft server that has crates, kits and more just telling you if you want to make a video about that
Mojang when P2W servers: I sleep
Mojang when pixelated guns: real shit
Used to play on a server called Aspiria few years ago, totally pay to win, ranks of like 100$, fortnite like season passes, op crates, the highest rank would give you free op loot with like all enchants at 10, fly and godmode.
Got bullied off it because i claimed abandoned buildings (they would unclaim after like 3 months of not playing) and were mad that i was bricking their server with like 70 hoppers because it couldn't handle my storage system
This is the video I have been waiting for
That team avo clip was a huge whiplash lol
glad to see calebissalty getting more recognition
I don't even play Minecraft. I haven't played for 8 years. But man, I love watching you stick it to those P2W server owning SOBs
the amount of money spent on the server shop includes vouchers that players can win by being topvoter for example, you have to take that into account
It's depressing to know that nothing we do will ever save parents credit cards.
The main issue is this:
1: Kids are gullible, and parents aren’t giving a damn on what their kid is doing, and giving the kid their credit card.
2: Money makes the world go round
3: No one cares as long as they get money. No matter how immoral. People today just don’t give a damn. No morality. No common decency.
So you gonna do Activision next since there lobby’s get easier on cod with the purchase of packs?
I remember when purple prison first opened I made a server review on it in like 2013
czcams.com/video/6e-RHjpWz3I/video.htmlfeature=shared 9 years ago I made this oh lord 😂
You're way too forgiving to these servers, if a server needs predatory micro-transactions to stay up then it shouldn't stay up. There is no such thing as a "good balance" between pay-to-win purchases and cosmetic ones. There is a reason the kinds of monetization in these servers are considered exploitative. People genuinely get hurt by these kinds of practices, and regardless of whether or not they "need" to have those micro-transactions to stay afloat, the consequences are still felt.
Personally, I lost a lot to a LOOONG term gambling habit I picked up from TF2 back like 10 years ago, and children even younger than I was fill these servers. It may seem small when you think of it as just one random minecraft server, but it's not just one minecraft server, its a trend. At best, players are given a worse experience because they are competing, not just in pvp, against people who have made purchases. At worst it creates an eco-system where players are manipulated into paying money they can't really afford by the constructed gameplay loop that all but requires them to pay to make progress. Either way it's monetized in a way that disregards the user experience, the players, it's dishonest for any server like that to pretend like it matters to them how good it is for the pockets it picks.
Good to know that you managed to destroy everything in the last one
qwertyuiop is pronounced like kwyre-ty-op (y is pronounced like и and op is pronounced like a short о)
I was listening to the end of the video and noticed that it was the Minecraft Christmas mashup music
I don’t know anyone knew that existed
Btw could you make a video on the old mashup texture packs and worlds?
Upload another video on how much servers earn, but also try to give an estimate on how much they must invest, and how many costs they have to keep it running please.
That's kind of impossible, the only way I could find that out is by asking the server owners, who won't tell me
@@TheMisterEpic It's true that obtaining precise figures on server earnings and costs can be challenging, especially without the cooperation of server owners lol. I didn't really think this through before commenting, but I wouldn't mind a part 2 of you having a look at how much certain Minecraft servers earned monthly. I am sure many people would be interested in even more server data similar to this. It doesn't necessarily have to be about how much they earn, etc. It could also be about player involvement, server tips, how to advertise (not in an extreme way, such as purple prison ofcourse lmao), server performance, and more... I don't mind you uploading whatever you want though
You said damn! :0
Real love to grind-to-win servers that have coins in game you can get from gringing for creates and other stuff
You have more subs now than the population of Wyoming.
the thing about crates and loot boxes, is that even thought its most definely gambling, the gaming industry does not view that way
i was a melon smp player and i want to say a couple of things about the server:
1. the old management was the one who ruined the server put in its p2w state
2. the old owner did a complete reset to the server and killed half of its player count than the old owner sold the server
3. the server is shutting down (sadly)
It sucks seeing a lot of the OG videos, and then going and doing almost the exact same thing to servers that I wanted to make changes, and seeing that at the end of the day it didn't matter or change much :/
To have minecraft do maybe anything to these obvious P2W servers, im sure alot of players would have to report them enmass and maybe put them on the spot during a live Q&A
Purple Prison has a channel that shows up first when you look up things like “lava rising server ip” the videos are titled “lava rising minecraft server ip” and the ip is literally just purple prison.
Lets be honesf. You could so tons of more danage with a long term plan and less important items been duped. Thats how setverd decide to have a "new season"
I like that you have respect for the P2W aspect that almost every server has, i think there's a super fine line between exploitation type P2W and P2W so you can continue to run the server. I don't think the average person knows how much it costs to upkeep a server, especially if its a larger one.
We hyped
me and my friends played the old melon sesson it was p2w but averged way ore players and i found it way more fun
i got small PTSD attack for dota ost used in your video
Love your pfp lol
Mista White just needed to open a Minecraft Pay2win server. None of that car wash stuff.

That 13k players online mineplex 😭 miss those days
Hypixel Skyblock after a massive dupe happens is probably the only place where big dupes actually do stuff
imagine someone breaking into your store shooting your merchandise and stealing all your money cause customers need to pay to get their product
What I see from this is that the server ironically grew in size, thanks to the fact that you were inadvertently promoting it on your end. When something is said to be really awful, people will want to try it out themselves. This also leads to them becoming hooked on the server. So basically, you kinda took the liberty to attract players for them at no cost, except for providing a minor speed bump in the economy.
I can assure you that my videos do not contribute in the slightest to any server growth beyond a minimal spike the day or 2 after I upload it
@@TheMisterEpic Not accusing you of anything! I still find it interesting that the servers grew in size after a brief economy nuke. Take care :)
There's a reason these servers and companies are so pay to win nowadays, the majority of players don't care.
The actual reason is because most servers need to be pay to win to stay afloat, most do not need real money gambling though
Purple prison sounds like a money laundering operation
